      it's good to see too that new Kansas album is awesome. I got the CD.
      but of course you know the traditional people there crapping all over it cuz it doesn't have you know who??
      just like after Steve ferrone was in the band drumming for Tom Petty for 24 years before Tom died they still not got over Tom firing Stan Lynch back then..😂😂
      of course I've heard people say they haven't listened to The Rolling Stones Brian Jones died and it's like really.
      be safe Jeff

    Ronnie is a nice guy and a great singer. I met him after a show in Boise Idaho and saw him again in the Salt Lake City airport. We talked about how great the Boise show was vs. the Wendover show a few nights later. Kansas is still great live. I am a true fan.

    Man oh man!! This was wonderful. Amongst all the great things he said, one of the things I liked the most is how he compared Kansas to a sports team that changes members but you remain a fan of that same team. That was pure gold and what a way to shut up the so called die hard fans. Their new album is FANTASTIC, I downloaded it the same day it came out and have played it non stop on an everyday basis. Pete, you do such a wonderful job interviewing this guys, just letting them talk about what they do and love doing, no bs, no controversy, no negative things. Great, great job, you keep hitting grand slams man. Thank you!! And Ronnie, when you get out on tour perhaps you can swing by Guatemala 🤞🤞

    My wife and I drove down from the Bay Area to Paso Robles, California to see Ronnie and Kansas a couple of years ago. The night before, Kansas's equipment truck had been involved in an accident in southern California and left the band without their stage setup, and worse, most of their instruments. They spent the day cobbling together gear they borrowed from local music shops (not easy in a small city in the middle of nowhere) and from their opening act. In spite of all the chaos -- and the unfamiliar instruments -- Ronnie and the guys put on a killer show for their fans. Now that's professional musicianship at its finest!

Great interview with Ronnie 😁👍👏 was really happy you asked him about the Beacon show and recording it (gave myself a Christmas present and flew in from California to see the show which did not disappoint one bit). Also enjoyed the question/answer about which songs Ronnie would like to play (yes 100% play No One Together- actually wouldn't mind if they played the entire Audio Visions record live 😁 how about another 1 off where they play SFA and Audio Visions together?😉😁👍) Thanks again Pete! Platt mentioned Kansas' audiences growing: Platt is the reason, the band can do the older songs Walsh couldn't do anymore because his voice was gone. Add in the new songs, great, invigorating show. Walsh's last years, the shows were the same 10-13 songs, got a bit dull. The newer band players are fantastic to boot, the bigger ensemble brings a richer sound that a five piece ensemble ( as Kansas was from 2000- to Walsh's retirement) couldn't

      Michael Baucom - Platt is great, but you have to give it up to Zak and Tom also. What I appreciate is that these new guys were not hired to just cover the old classics. They have all brought vitality to this band with fresh ideas for great new music! In the years before Walsh retired, Kansas was turning into just another old nostalgia rock band, but they have been reborn.

    • @michaelbaucom4019
      @michaelbaucom4019 4 года назад +2

      @@JosephFrancisBurton Amen. Didn't mean to downplay the other new members' contributions(Zak and Breslin are the primary songwriters now) I was primarily focused on Platt and his comment about Kansas' audience growing, his being in the band was the first step.
      Kansas will stay Kansas as long as Phil Ehart is involved, not just drumming ( amazed he's still going), but as business manager too. Kerry Livgren once called him "the brand guardian".

    If enthusiasm sells, Ronnie and Tom would get the prize. Kansas is a band again. Prelude Implicit was not a bad album but it was not one of my favorites. Honestly, I'm not sure why. It reminds me of "In the Spirit of Things" in this respect--which is an album I do love and enjoy. Both were missing something. This one sounds great. It feels great. Whatever was missing was restored. Perhaps the tornado of creative juice was the missing ingredient--and sounds like the product of one of those efforts. It's different lyrically, but it's respectful and fresh at the same time. Kansas is a band, again. Thank you Ronnie and Pete for another stellar interview. Best wishes on the new release, Ronnie, Zak, Tom, Phil, Rich, Billy, David. Blessings to all of you.

      At least you're willing to give the new material a try unlike many old school Kansas fans who want to pretend the last two albums never happened. I love The Prelude Implicit, in particular Rhythm In The Spirit and Visibility Zero. Throwing Mountains from the new album is also top notch.

    • @musicnerd8969
      @musicnerd8969 4 года назад

      @@shawnminnier6117 I've been a fan since the 1970's. I believe Pete has summed the situation up very well. I know why people are not so keen on the new line-up--but you're right about people not moving on to new approaches. People age and mature--and need space to grow their own craft. This line-up isn't the original--but it is a new original. People should give that idea some serious consideration. I believe this is Kansas' best work since Monolith, really. But I have to give it a few more spins to be sure. I like it a lot.

    • @jessew1133
      @jessew1133 4 года назад

      @@musicnerd8969 I think I had a similar experience with The Prelude Implicit. I thought it was a good record, but not great. I mean I really enjoyed the record, but it wasn't going to stay in heavy rotation. At one of the shows I seen live (I've seen them about 9x in the last 6 years) they played Summer (now one of my favorites) from TPI and something clicked. I had to go back and give TPI another listen and realized that record is really really good. Now in saying that there is no doubt the new record is definitely a step above and I have been playing it non stop since I got my hands on it. Cannot wait to see them live again and hear them play these new tunes live! Cheers🍻👍😁

      @@jessew1133 With a wink, a nod and a tip of my hat, I hear what you're saying. Like all organic things bands will mature in a variety of ways. With this release the current lineup has demonstrated inflationary maturity in a large amount of compressed time--for all the reasons Ronnie just explained. I think this is very consistent with my opinion--and we're really singing on the same page. Cheers.☕️☕️

    Great album from a great band; saw then for first time during Masque tour in 75- i know their are a lot of Kansas fans that don't except anyone other than Steve Walsh or Kerry Livgren; what i would say to them is act as though this Kansas is a brand new band and with a open mind, listen to this new Album and the previous Album and i think you would find this version kicks ass too.
    I didn't think when i heard Walsh was retiring that i could go on listening to Kansas, but i did and elated that i did. The new guys in the band are phenomenal players; Greer and Ragsdale have been around along time and then you add in Zavvi and Bris and you have incredible lineup- last time i saw Kansas and I've seen them 8 times, i knew by listening to Walsh's voice that it was time to jang

    For Ronnie- re: his comment about "where did everybody go?" theaters clearing out. That's because far and away the majority of the bands/artists retreat backstage and don't want to or bother to interact with the fans. I saw Pat Travers just a few months ago, and word went thru the crowd that he would come out and hang with the fans afterwards... there were probably 100 fans that stuck around to chat, take pics and grab a photo. Let the fans know you want to interact and they will be there "to grab a sandwich". But if you shut us out, why should we hang around?

    It seems really dated talking about the pandemic now. I'm glad that chapter is over.

    this singer has never given me goose bumps of any kind; there is no passion in his vocals to my ears; he plods along and for a lack of a better explanation he sounds like he's going through the motions even though I know he is not which is disappointing because Kansas is still a great band; he is just not emotive and too laid back in contrast to the vocals I've been accustomed to from this band
