This is the game of my infancy. I loved it so much. I had a Gladiator lvl 200+ with full Raane's (Yes, Raane was much better than Andiell), the Faldamar axe + the legendary axe that you get from a tomb inside a forest near Mascarell. I would use the thingy that does damage over time from distance to enemies, which procced fireballs from the Faldamar axe! My go to zone was farming the demons of Sakkara in the Underworld, there's a place where there's like x20 of them at the same time. I would get crazy crazy loot. I had legendary gloves that boosted damage by 20%. There's also a defensive build but sadly only works in Bronze. There's a mage skeleton inside a cave attached to Faerie's Crossing. If you have learned Disarmed you can get it. Even though that shield is Bronze only, is by far the best shield in the game, as it boosts all your resistances (literally, ALL OF THEM, physical, fire, magic and poison) by 20%. So you could run an entirely defensive build and become unkillable. I had all classes except for the archer, I thought she was boring. I spent 3 long years playing this game non-stop. Then Sacred 2 came out. I played it, finished the campaign and never touched it again. It was a bit buggy, it had an entirely different feel from the original game, etc. And I get the developers, they wanted to make an entirely 3D game (I know how that feels, it's always exciting), but it didn't turn out very well. I guess, whoever loves ARPGs, Sacred Underworld is a must play if you haven't played it yet. TIP: If you're going to level up the Gladiator, there's Jason's mask and Machete to be found in a forest near Drakenden. They are legendary items, they give lots of lifesteal and increased physical damage. I still remember it to this day. Those are the best items for the Glad until you have all your Andiell/Raane set completed and of course, your Faldamar Axe. Not sure if you will talk about this in your video, I'm only 3 minutes into the video, had to pause to leave this comment xD. I will continue watching it now.
For the sound with the voices being weak in the localisation you are absolutely right. The German original is really good. E.g. the Gladiator is voiced by the German voice of Bruce Willis, or the Dark Elf has the voice of Nicolas Cage. And a lot of the voice lines are much more funny in German because they simply didn't get all that well localised. Fun fact: the goblins speak their German voices in every language as far as I know, it's very funny if you can actually understand them.
For enemies running around/away - this is where special abilities come in handy, i.e - gladiator's Stomping jump or Vamp's Claw jump which have a stunning effect as well for crowd-control. Range characters and spell-casters have no such problems as I recall the Battlemage could cast even while stunned and the Wood-elf had homing arrows which are fire n forget type and silly OP!! All in all, Sacred is a truly forgotten masterpiece that I had tons of fun with :)
True, the german voice over is awesome. Almost all characters you can play are voiced by famous voice actors, like the german translator voices of bruce willis and nicholas cage for example.
As gladiator you need to invest heavily into concentration to reduce your combat arts cooldown. You max out heroic courage and then you use low level stomp jump or fist of gods. It's good idea to have stomp under 2s as cd becouse this way you can spam it and jump all over the map. Max out weapon lore, armor and concentration first and you are unstoppable beast who have no problem with dealing mobs that are running away from you. Also using two handed weapons deal much higher dmg. You will one shot most mobs very fast this way.
When I started playing skyrim, I somehow felt that sacred and skyrim feel similar, and no one agreed with me. And with your video I feel seen lol. And you're so right about Underworld being much less interesting than main campaign, though it took me awhile to understand why I didn't enjoy it so much despite the great visuals. I long for more games with close visual style with medieval themes, magic and comfort of realism in low-pixel style. For me, the only games which had something close are Divine Divinity and Nox. I highly recommend Divine Divinity because of its wonderful world, lots of secrets and some interesting game mechanics (though the second part after the ascension is so eerily empty that it feels like the game is a part of some horror project). The size of world is astonishing. I loved playing my Dark Elf with 2 blades :D Generally the underworld was a bit boring for me. Felt like the Demon and Dwarf are only suitable to this. Even though expansion added many good quests in Ancaria so i am not angry at Ascaron.

I think it's just a personal preference. For me with Sacred the main problem was that by default it will still stretch the 4:3 and it looks (and runs) worse than what you get with dgVoodoo. So you still need a mod to play in the original aspect ratio, but after trying out a few different settings I just liked the one you see in the video the best.
depends on the computer and what settings you change in the files i guess... on my computer it works fine on its own but it barely worked on my grandpas even though they are both from at least 6 years ago
Iirc, Gladiator has a combat art that locks the character. Some bizarre state is entered where the character no longer can move at all. It was covered at the official English forum before Sacred 2 was released.

The devs said the 8x damage increase was OP... They decided to leave it as is. sacred 2, they designed from top down. So they knew the maximum damage characters can deal at the start of the design process.

I never had a fireball set. I played crossbow gladiator and it was pretty strong :D

there is a PureHD patch, fan mad, it works realy well and keps the game original. but no crashes

It's sad to hear, that the voiceacting is so bad in english, since in German it has one of the greatest voiceacters of all Games I have ever played :)
