The Hammer Effect is a great ball. For me it’s very predictable. I just bowled a 279 with that ball and my average keeps going up. I love the way it snaps into the pocket for me.
So far, I like the DV8 Mantra besides the Hammer Effect because it is a step-down from it and the Track Archetype Hybrid. I bowled a 244 with it a couple of weeks ago. I've been very consistent with the DV8 Mantra, and it fits my game very well, along with the Hammer Effect.
I have to say the Summit Ascent has been my ball of the year. Super predictable middle of the bag benchmark ball. Super versatile. Not too strong early like the OP but has really good continuation. I haven’t matched up well with my Effect yet. I think it’s a bit too shiny so I have hit it with 2k. Hope to see better motion from it. It definitely turns the corner tho!

@ It’s cleaner than the 3.0 and has more back end hook. You can start w the 3.0 and then move to the Effect once the widow starts to go high. They make a great 1-2 punch for a 3 game set.
@ Out of the box I didn’t match up with the Widow 3.0 at all either. It’s one of those covers that needs lane shine to truly maximize the balls potential. Now whenever I need to knock some shine off I hit it with a 4K pad, throw it once or twice down the lane and back to peak performance it goes.
Depends on the lanes on what ball to select. So I was having trouble getting the ball to finish with my Storm Absolute. I bought an Ebonite The One Reverb. It really has that snap I was looking for.
Hammer Effect, Track Theoren, Attention Star are probably going to be balls of the year. In my opinion, the Black Widow 3.0 is my favorite ball of 2024. I also picked up the Motiv Black Venom, but I believe was released in 2023.
My ball this year is the Outer Limits Pearl as it is versatile for me on all lane conditions and hits like a truck. At 67 years old I still have decent ball speed but also a good review rate. Since league started back up, I have had bowlers ask me what ball it is and comment about the motion to the pocket. Like a lot of Radical balls, this one is definitely a sleeper.
I would never try to tell anyone what to do on their channel, but if you were going to do a ball of the year, maybe break it down into 3 categories: Fresh, Transition, and Burn? And then as a fun one, "If I was bowling for a million dollars, I would use..."
Because of my slower speed and less rev's (Senior bowler) I hit the surface with a 1000 pad and it now is my game 1 and 2 go to ball, It hits better than anything else I own and with little effort I can play inside of the track and stay there with little need to adjust
@LuisNapoles that's how I felt about my Effect. Changed the surface on my effect to 1k/vise compound and it turned into a completely different animal. I was leaving 10 pins no matter how I adjusted. But I think changing the surface slightly made the difference.

@@LuisNapoles I neglected to mention one thing: imo, regardless of whether it's the Effect or the Vaporize (or any HK22C ball with polish), it's much better to have the polish removed. It works infinitely better for me with the box polish cover removed (with a 2000 pad).
Love the specs but so far the harsh reality solid, ebonite emerge pearl, and the eternity pearl been boosting my scores in league. Just shot 254 with ebonite emerge the other night.
@ yep someone that watches ball motion and is honest you spin the ball down the lane which makes everything look the same because you can’t bowl on anything challenging, you have more lines than a piece of notebook paper. Get some lessons learn how to play the inside of the ball because you really do a disservice to the ones who actually do take your recommendations because you show them nothing of what the ball can truly do.

I'm sure this ball is great, but SPI has come out with numerous home runs and you don't review them anymore accept for the Phase AI and it was like it killed you to be positive about it and that ball is Unreal for everyone that I have seen throw it.. Review them all so the opinions and comparisons are honest and real.. just my thoughts...
“I don’t think there’s anything close this far”. Beg to differ. The Attention Star (and who knows about the new Star?); the Phaze AI; Ion Pro, and several others are not only “close” but some are probably better - Attention Star, for sure. So, as much as I respect Luis and his videos, especially his recent comment on string pins (would you rather have no bowling centers at all?), I don’t understand his fanboy enthusiasm for the Effect. A good ball for sure, but I’ve seen several bowlers for whom it just doesn’t work, and there are many (non-urethane) balls much better represented on the pro circuits.
It's just Luis' opinion my guy. You have yours, and that's cool. But you having a differing opinion doesn't mean Luis' opinion of the Effect is any less valid than your expressed "fanboy enthusiasm" of the SPI balls you mentioned.
Great opinion but way off the market by far...Asking anyone the Storm Ion Pro crushes the Hammer Effect by a freaking mile...and the Storm AI is way better ...Hammer Edfect can't even find people throwing it ever.....

Ball of the Year for me is the Attention Star. Love the motion. Hammer effect is a close 2nd. Can’t go wrong with either one.
I've seen so many throwing the Hammer Black Widow 3.0 this year to great scores, would have to be my pick for ball of the year in 2024.
Yup. I have one drilled pin down and it always carries and does the right thing on our house shot. By far my most consistent ball this year.

I had hammer ghost couple yrs and was unbelievable but upgraded to 3.0 and took me half yr to adjust to moving to left side cause hook was tremendous

Love my Hammer Effect. Have gotten some great score with mine. Shot first 800 with it. It was a killer at Nationals for me this past year as well.

I was late getting the Effect because the Widow 3.0 was amazing for me. But picked it up a few weeks ago and I have to agree the Effect is insane.

Hammer effect is trash in most bowlers hands I’ve seen. Attention Star, Ion Pro, Optimum Idol Pearl and Phaze AI all roll much better in my opinion.
I've seen the same with the Effect. People can't control it. Too snappy.
to me its a very niche ball but when it gets on the proper conditions the ball shines for me.
