- Steve Waugh 199. He called it the greatest Test he had ever played in. The epic battle between Lara and Australian greats at their prime. Australia completely dominate the first three days of the test match.
Before the series began, Lara had been as close to disgrace as any cricketer can be. West Indies had lost heavily in South Africa, hardly putting up a fight. Then they were trounced by Australia in the first match of this series. Lara appeared incapable of stopping the slide. At last he responded by scoring 213 in Jamaica, an innings that caught the Australians off guard and allowed the hosts to square the series. It was the start of an astonishing sequence of innings from Lara. His range was extraordinary, like an actor who had played drama, tragedy and comedy in successive performances and triumphed in them all.
Australia dominated the opening three days of the Third Test. Steve Waugh set the tone with a rugged 199 as Australia scored 490. West Indies subsided to 98 for 6 before the fightback began with a partnership of 153 between Sherwin Campbell and Ridley Jacobs.

As much as I love this it was a bit of a bummer that the footage ran out at four wickets down, missing the Lara rescue and redemption act, but thank you for what you did show. Fantastic memories from an all time classic Test Match.

This is still one of the greatest innings of all time in cricket history. Nothing can compare to Lara’s 153 innings. You can talk about Sachin, ponting or whoever there was or this days.

People often forget Campbell's first innings 100! He played incredibly well!!!
People also forget Walsh and Ambi cleaned up Aus for 146.....when australia weren't attacking to get a big lead.

Elliott had a similar technique to haydon.Hayden struggled against great fast bowlers.dominated cricket when they were retired.
Hayden had a much better technique than Elliot! Hayden was still at the crease, whilst Elliott's trigger movements often got him into trouble against the moving ball!
It's not Hayden's fault that he was selected when he was! Taylor and Slater formed a formidable opening partnership! When Haydos returned, he scored runs after improving his game! I don't think his achievements should be discredited!!!
