Was never close to being out....very painful loss but made 1995 victory in WI so much sweeter...I think the first season Steve put the hook away...and the birth of the gutsiest bat we ever had Langer
Swings and roundabouts. Ambrose's wicket of Boon's at 2.50 is clearly impact outside the off stump. Umpires have a tough job and generally it evens out.
Good old times with Channel 9.. ppl talk about T20 ruining cricket but back in the time the scenario was the same with the big 3..apart from the aussies the rest have changed
Partisan umpires not enough to stop the steam roller combo of Ambrose and Walsh> Only Merv Hughes could glare down the umpire for giving him out when it was missing off stump and leg stump and hitting half way up middle
Not really. The last wicket was a bit dodgy but everything else looked good, there was a very difficult one off Shane Warne's forearm. No DRS in those days, all on the umpire.
Well, two of the greatest test finishes and both times the Aussies lose on questionable umpiring decisions. Any other nation would be crying about it to this day. These Aussies however are a tough breed of cricketers.
The match would have ended much earlier had Langer been given LBW. He was plumb twice early on in his innings. Nevertheless, One of the greatest matches ever. Good old days, when Men played like Men on fast pitches against lethal bowlers, unlike modern day flat track bullies, averaging 60 against helpless bowlers while hyper nationalist jingoistic commentators harp on their hollow achievements under the glare of their crony paymasters.
What a opening music cannot get better than this channel 9 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That CH9 intro... Brings me back to when SA started playing again and touring Australia... Yeah we lost but still, the memories yoh!
Terrific post match interviews - adults speaking candidly. Far superior to the media trained children who play the game today.
So true
Maaaaan this brings back memories. From the Channel 9 intro to the fact that WI back then had a decent team....miss those days
Seeing Richie always makes me smile
Wow one of the greatest days of test cricket
1000 first class wickets in 1993.
My God what a legend Courtney walsh was.
Nice catch by Dujon off McDermott's helmet to win the match. With modern video technology that would be given not out.
Thought so too.
*Junior Murray, not Dujon by the time this series was played
With modern technology Justin Langer would have been out too.
Langer was out a couple of times to Kenny Benjamin early in his innings
What goes around, comes around. Aussies are notorious for never walking in all standards of cricket as well as ball tampering and sledging.
Love May and Billy the kid! Love em all, great players and great times! Big Ambrose what a champion bowler
Ambrose was definitely one of the very best Gr8888 fast bowler.
One of the biggest competitors of Waseem and Waqar
Simply i will type only one word (great)
Was never close to being out....very painful loss but made 1995 victory in WI so much sweeter...I think the first season Steve put the hook away...and the birth of the gutsiest bat we ever had Langer
Ahhh the glory days of Test Cricket, it was my favourite era and T20 is an airport terminal in Dubai...
The way Curtly flicks the MOM check had be dying
Remember you etiquette, He is Sir Curtly now lol
that was a close one. Wouldnt mind going to see that next match in perth. I wonder if there's any tickets left
Tim May just almost had the perfect birthday ever.
Amazing all round match for Tim May and Langer courage on debut should never be forgotten
@ yeah hope so too. I was watching Ind vs WI and WI were completely dominated everywhere. Hope to watch them play good cricket again one day
McDermott "caught" off his helmet lol.
What a dirk harrrhaahhaaarrgaahar togg islander wow i hab wi easilee winninn
I think that umpire actually gave him LBW
he was officially out for handling the ball - with his helmet.
You forgot Justin Langer. The match would have ended much more earlier of he was given out too.
That was some poor umpiring both taylor and langer were plum lbw few times,Curtly would've had 450 wkts if DRS was there back in the day lol
Did you know that if the ball pitches outside leg you can't be given out?
Swings and roundabouts. Ambrose's wicket of Boon's at 2.50 is clearly impact outside the off stump. Umpires have a tough job and generally it evens out.
@@mikebarker6979 ahahaha i dont think he knows how lbw works
Curtly talk to no men! Except to the Late Tony.
Mark Taylor lbw to ambrose not given,Justin langer lbw to Kenny Benjamin twice, not given....
Was always the way before neutral umpires - Australian batsmen got at least 2 lives in Australia. Away teams needed about 15 wickets per innings.
@@goweresque i know...kiwi aussie english and even west indian umpires were bad but blame always went to sub continent umpires
It's one thing to be bias, but another thing to be bias AND corrupt, which the pakistani and indian umpries certainly were.
@@ket_wav1013 which Indian umpire is or was corrupt????
What memories 😍😘
Why is this called Billy’s Agony?
McDermott’s nickname
@Kevin because he was given out caught, but the ball came off his helmet not his bat
Yep off his helmet
Good old times with Channel 9.. ppl talk about T20 ruining cricket but back in the time the scenario was the same with the big 3..apart from the aussies the rest have changed
Nice catch of the helmet
Thank god DRS is available now
The commentater were very good very good imust give them that🎉🎉❤
Partisan umpires not enough to stop the steam roller combo of Ambrose and Walsh> Only Merv Hughes could glare down the umpire for giving him out when it was missing off stump and leg stump and hitting half way up middle
overall , umpiring well below desired standards.
Not really. The last wicket was a bit dodgy but everything else looked good, there was a very difficult one off Shane Warne's forearm. No DRS in those days, all on the umpire.
5:33 plumpest decision how is that not given
Goodness me, Merv Hughe's portliness was largely padding. I wonder why.
Ambrose: I haven't had much luck this summer
*gets nine wickets in next test*
Ian Bishop bowling and also doing commentary?
I was there. The crowd were singing waltzing Matilda. I didn't realise how bad the umpiring was.
Merv had a mattress under his jumper
Oh the days before DRS...
Lol, the Windies would have been celebrating long before they did.
Dude langer was out a million times for lbw. Yup game would've been over much sooner if there was drs
Who is Billy here now?
i want to know that
Craig McDermott's nickname was Billy
McDermott was never out
Drs what a godsend.
I’ll bet you that here in 2024 Sir Curtly would still give the current Australia team a spanking.
If i remember rightly the ball before Billy got out he hit the ball hard right into Desmond Haynes at short leg stopping the possible winning runs.
Well, two of the greatest test finishes and both times the Aussies lose on questionable umpiring decisions. Any other nation would be crying about it to this day. These Aussies however are a tough breed of cricketers.
They did not cry because they knew they had decision in favour of them too. Justin Langer was out LBW earlier but wasn't given.
The match would have ended much earlier had Langer been given LBW. He was plumb twice early on in his innings. Nevertheless, One of the greatest matches ever. langer was lbw 2 times.right match result
McDermott was not out
1st appeal appears to be out for me.
Justin Langer stood like a wall probably lacking his mates gilly haydos, ponting team full of match winners
I love the West Indies forever
I also love Langer forever
1 Run victory Australia and West Indies played well
Who's the Billy they're referring to?
Craig McDermott
To win downunder was hard work🎉🎉🎉😂❤
I know one thing. If there had the DRS in place then; Curtly Ambrose would have more than 405 test wickets. Cuz I know so
I don't think that Caig Mcdermott necked it...
Look at the frustrated Australian crowd 😂😂😂😂
Ambrose and that cheque lol
How many lbws not given
Only Cathes will count no lbw 😆 bcoz it won't be given out by auzzi umpires
Cricket was the winner
Unfortunately for Border Australia only had three bad days in Perth.
McDermott wasn't out. The ball hit the brim of his helmet, not the bat.
And Langer was out LBW. The ball was hitting the stumps deadly.
Great boowlers ; great West lndies !
where ambrose was bowling..outside off and full of width...
Wow....
So obvious on the replay that Billy didn't hit it.
Horrendous umpiring as expected!
Ye era tha jab sachin tendulkar ne run banaya tha. In Bowlers ko dekh kr aaj kal ke batsman ke paseene jayenge. Khaufnak bowlers west indies.
Interesting umpiring....
No easy runs !!!
Len king worst umpire
Darrell Hair had him well covered.
Border, always was pacemen's 'bunny'. particularly of Ambrose.
I disagree with you
Probably the last thing I'd ever describe Border as is anyone's bunny.
why so many indians commenting?
Terrible umpiring. Blatant cheating
