    I like how you try to be fair whenever you give a game a dedicated review, looking at any positive aspects of a game while still acknowledging the negatives, instead of going full-on angry reviewer in these videos, which is something RUclips already has more then enough of.

      That’s the biggest thing for me when reviewing a game. If a game is awful, I’ve got no problem pointing that out. I won’t sit here and try to be sensationalist about it though. Every game deserves a fair chance when I review them, even if it’s ones I wasn’t fond of growing up, that I may perceive differently now. Glad you appreciate my review approach!

    Awesome review! I really appreciate it when a reviewer takes the time to compare different versions! The camera angles are kind of an issue for me as they frustrate me, so I'll have to pass on this one! I am grateful that you gave it a fair review, and I hope we'll see more of these in the future! Great video and keep up the good work!

      Thanks, Dan! Yeah, this game had fairly drastic differences between the GC and Xbox version, to the point that needed to be highlighted like I did. I do try my best to be fair with my reviews 👍! Glad you enjoyed it man!!

    The presentation looks great... too bad it doesn't seem that the gameplay keeps up with the high expectations. Those fixed camera angles are killer. I do like the satisfaction of the "final hit" on an enemy too, it would be very satisfying. The boss fights seem fun, although the beat 'em ups are pretty standard, I do like the unique ones with Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy's instant kill kiss is pretty cool. The cutscenes look fantastic. I think it's great that you had an entire section comparing the X-Box version vs the GameCube version. As someone who collects for both, that's a huge plus in a review to see which version of the game I'd like to buy. I've never heard of this game, so despite it's flaws it's one I'd like to try out now. Awesome review, GCG!

    • @GameCubeGalaxy
      @GameCubeGalaxy  9 месяцев назад +1

      For sure man! The presentation and cutscenes are great, and while the gameplay falls a bit short compared to that, I still enjoyed it enough to play it twice for this review. The fixed camera angles do hurt the game quite a bit, and takes some acclimating. I'm glad you liked the GameCube vs Xbox segment! I went through quite a lot to be able to capture the Xbox version footage myself lol! I may do this in future reviews if a game has drastic differences across platforms. Thanks for checking out the review man!!

    Excellent review! I can't believe this was considered one of the worst. I've seen so many worse games that this that this shouldn't even sniff that list of "worst of". Thanks for being a fair judge of this and looking at it with an open mind. That's why your channel is so great.

      Thank you man! Yeah, it’s not a great game by any means, but it is nowhere near this awful, unplayable mess it was depicted to be. Sure it didn’t become the game it was originally pitching to be, but I still found quite a bit to enjoy here in the end! Thanks for the awesome compliment about the channel and my approach man! That staircase-jumping animation is terrible 😀. Aside from the Batman, Forever font style of the game's logo, I could see why this was missed. I love hearing the technical differences between the GameCube version and the Xbox version. Great job.

  • @WalkBesideMe

    It's the Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero of Batman games. Does it deserve its infamy and reception? In many ways, yes. The foundation of the gameplay is so beyond broken to the point of being nearly unplayable and feels like the most obviously beta game released ever made (this game didn't even get an actual ad campaign like, say Batman Vengeance or Rise of Sin Tzu, it just dropped and not even a full priced release). BUT, the story, the visuals, the music, the atmosphere, even the voice acting (Joker notwithstanding) are all solid to exceptional. The cutscenes of this game are very impressive for early 2000s. My MK Mythologies comparison fits cos like Dark Tomorrow, that game is infamous for the horrible gameplay and difficulty but also has incredible visuals, story and lore, and atmosphere and is an important game in the history of the series. Both are bad games ultimately but have positives worth highlighting and NOT the worst in their respective franchises.

    • @GameCubeGalaxy
      @GameCubeGalaxy  5 месяцев назад

      That’s an excellent game to compare it to! Really nailed it 👍. MK Mythologies is a guilty pleasure for me…except for the Earth stage. That stage is awful lol. Thanks for checking out the review!

    Bro, I’m surprised that Batman Dark Tomorrow was originally going to be an open world game. After seeing the verdict, maybe it’s not that bad, I’ll have to see for myself. I will say that I had a similar experience when I played through Regular Show Mordecai and Rigby in 8-Bit Land (3DS) and thought that it’s actually a good yet flawed game especially because of the fact that it’s developed by Wayforward and it does look really good and plays well despite its problems. That’s an example for me regarding a “terrible” game that I actually enjoy. Either way Great Episode as always GameCube Galaxy.

    • @GameCubeGalaxy
      @GameCubeGalaxy  9 месяцев назад

      Yeah, it’s a game that has its faults for sure, some really bad, and some overly exaggerated. It was also a game that I actually wanted to replay after beating it, which is a good sign typically. I heard that Regular Show 3DS game was trashed by critics, but some people actually enjoyed it for what it is. Glad you enjoyed the review man!

    This is one of the most positive reviews of the game I've seen...and I've not played this game - just seen that outside of its somewhat decent production values and story...it's...bad? Bad to the point of including instances such as where you have to actually crouch to talk to two hostages so that progress is made, and of course that gliding section. Still, good review my man.

    • @GameCubeGalaxy
      @GameCubeGalaxy  9 месяцев назад +1

      I try to be as fair as possible in my reviews, even towards games that are supposedly “terrible”. There’s only been 1 game I’ve reviewed so far that has been an utterly painful experience to cover, which was Spirits & Spells 🤣. The game definitely has numerous issues, but there’s something about the game that had me coming back to it. Glad you enjoyed the review man!

      Thanks man! Yeah, this one get a lot of flak, but it’s not like it was Sonic ‘06 broken 🤣. The GC and Xbox versions contrasted quite a bit as you saw, and felt that needed to be showcased. It definitely could’ve been much better, but it also wasn’t anywhere as dreadful as many made it out to be in my opinion. If it did remain exclusive, and the dev team told the publisher they needed more time making their vision, then this could’ve been groundbreaking for its time. wow that part about Xbox vs GameCube is fascinating and great info. You would not believe how much I hear people claim multi-plat games from that generation should be played on Xbox if possible simply because it "technically" has the highest performance parts so IT MUST be the best version. But more and more, for some reason that probably takes a comp sci degree to understand, The Gamecube is the best version of a multi-plat. It's not every time but it's much more than I would have expected. I saw someone saying Sonic Riders on Xbox was the best version and it was clearly just a complete guess based on knowing the spec of Xbox are technically greater and upon looking it up, yes Sonic Riders was first made for Gamecube and the other versions are objectively worse like having worse quality textures or other issues.
    Speaking of Sonic Riders, I just started playing the romhack Sonic Riders DX and it's incredible. Have you ever considered doing videos on romhacks of Gamecube games? There are a ton of incredible ones and also overhaul patches that just fix bugs and provide Quality of Life upgrades. Such as, respectively First-person Luigi's Mansion or Skies of Arcadia Maeson,

    • @GameCubeGalaxy
      @GameCubeGalaxy  9 месяцев назад +1

      There’s this misconception that multiplatform games should be played on Xbox over GameCube/PS2, and there are numerous instances where that’s not the case. Honestly, this generation was still important to pay attention to differences between the platforms. Yeah, Sonic Riders is optimal on GameCube 👍. I actually wasn’t even aware of those rom hacks! I’ll need to look into these and do a potential episode on them! Thanks for letting me know!

    I prefer Vengeance, Rise of Sin-Tzu and Begins for my GameCube Batman fix. Personally I don't really notice the graphical differences of games on multiplatform unless you flip between versions or side-by-side comparisons (Doesn't changes my mind though) it's interesting about the GameCube vs. Xbox stuff. Kinda had a feeling Xbox will be 480p and have greater graphical details due to Xbox being a strong console, but ain't aware of the sound issues. I guess it depends on the person if the muffled music makes the Xbox version a dealbreaker or a fair trade-off for slicker visuals. Weird too considering Xbox is capable of Dolby Digital. Either a goof-up or Kemco showing their Japanese bias towards an American console like the Xbox, irony though is much more of their RPGs are on Xbox than Square Enix and Atlus combined!

    I never thought this game was as bad as people say but I'm not going to go out my way to call this a hidden gem. Lol.
    The story itself really kicks ass and the royal harmaonic orchestra did a great job the games soundtrack.
    Graphically it's a mixed bag. Character models look great, environments can range from good to bad. For example the streets of Gotham certain sections where property is on fire reminds me of the start of RE2. Also full transparency here because its probably my eyes but I hate those giant ice chasms.
    Gameplay is where this game really falls apart. Controls don't feel good at all. I've gotten more accustomed to them ever since I got this game 11 years ago but they will never feel good.
    The game tries to encourage exploration however this is good and bad. For starters I did enjoy finding unlockables in the game however there are areas of the game I would get stuck or sometimes I would get completely torn to shreds. (To shreds you say)
    The opening level where you graople on the rooftops of the game in many ways in my experience is like an initiation. If someone can finish that section without rage quitting or giving up they might be able to beat this game.
    Personally I do disagree about the infamous big red button. When I first played the game I had no idea about it so getting the bad ending after all that hard painful work felt like the game gave me a middle finger. Okay normally I don't like my emotions to cloud my criticisms of a game but this game i will give it special treatment.
    4/10.
    Now thats out of the way I want to say this was actually nice to see a more positive review of this game. I personally don't agree on the red button but it was nice to hear a different opinion.
    It was also really cool seeing the differences between the GC version and the og Xbox. I knew hot gen were the ones ported who ported the game to the system and just wow. It really must've been just a rushed port job. The lack of unlockables really surprised me the most. If anything you would think xbox version is the GC game and vice versa. Talk about not taking full advantage of the hardware. Not that it really took full advantage of the GC's power either.
    Anyways thanks for the review man.

      Fair assessment from your perspective when you played it 👍. Glad you enjoyed hearing a more positive, level-headed approach about this game! The differences between the GC and Xbox version are quite staggering, and I felt needed to be highlighted here. Thanks for checking out the review man!

      @@GameCubeGalaxy I'm not sure if it makes sense but this is one of those bad games it just intrigues me. Maybe it's the story , I don't know. Maybe once every year or so I pop this game in and give it a playthrough. I won't go out of my way to tell people to buy this game for their GC or og Xbox because the last time I saw this game at a store in my area $40 Canadian is way too much for this game. I got my copy I got mine for $2.50 CAD cib at EB Games. Lol.

      I definitely plan to one day! I covered it briefly in a hidden gems episode, but want to play it entirely to review 👍.

    Creo que Superman 64 tenía mejor cámara en muchas ocasiones a pesar del mal control, pero era mas cosa de fotogramas por segundo.

    Pero al menos Superman 64 tuvo una versión de Play Station que aunque fue cancelado, al menos es mas jugable, o Daikatana que tuvo una buena versión en Game Boy Color, este ni fu ni fa.

      While Vengeance and Begins are definitely better games, Dark Tomorrow was entertaining enough to play through twice for me. Yeah, the differences are pretty clear when seeing it side-by-side between versions. Kemco actually didn’t handle the Xbox version at all, and was sent to Hotgen Studios to handle. Thanks for checking out the review!
