- The Leavenworth Adventure Park celebrated its grand opening on Thursday.
The park features Washington state's first Alpine Coaster. There are also giant trampolines, a climbing wall, a mining sluice and an impressive Alpine Slide.
Dave Moffett is the lead developer of the action park. His family owned and operated The Summit at Snoqualmie. His Alpine Coaster vision began in the 1990s when he started researching the possibility of adding one at his family's previous park.
“The Alpine Coaster is a bit of a rare bird,” Moffett said.

A total blight on the landscape. Signed, a local.
Yeah, they tend to locate in or near naturally beautiful areas like Mountains & forests. Usually with a bunch of other gaudy, plastic tourist traps that tend to congregate around places like the Smoky Mountains, Branson, MO, Mount Hood and of course, Leavenworth. Y'all in Washington have some of the most spectacular & gorgeous areas in the U.S. I'm deprived of natural beauty in Noth Texas!
Many of us locals here in Leavenworth did not want this EYE-SORE here but $$$ and the city council got their 30 pieces of silver for this mess and lined the pockets of the Seattle developer/owner.
The stupid *pRiDe_FlAg* should upset people far more than the coaster.
The alpine coaster is so stupid. Leavenworth is a beautiful city, why ruin it.
Being able to stop on the track seems like a really good idea.
That way you can piss off riders behind you that want to go fast. I always ride these when they're not busy so I can wait at the top & allow as much space as I need to not ever meet up behind slower riders since I always ride without brakes. They're governed to about 30 MPH so you can't go fast enough to tear your car off the track, or yourself off the car anyway.
The stupidest thing inventor do is putting brakes on it. So many crashes impact from behind... No other roller coaster in the world had brake on it except this one.
Looks like an accident waiting to happen... I'm sure it's constructed well, but there's a lot of room for human error/stupidity...
🙄
Only a matter of time....hope the owners liability insurance premiums will be enough.
I would definitely love to ride. This thing looks awesome and the views are spectacular😮
Soup of the day. Cold beer! 😂
i thught thu EDTING Ws VaRY TRAMATIC i eant un refendble
Just moved out of Washington for work. Miss Leavenworth dearly. Went at least once a year!
Y’all better not stop in front of me, you’ll catch some hands
Nice to see that Washington is finally getting it's own apline slide, in the mountains!
Looks really fun!
😻😻😻😻😻
Gentrification at it's finest, all thanks to the person who built it being a personal friend of the mayor, most certainly money was exchanged. If you think that isnt the case, there's a reason why the city was never able to explain why there was thousands of dollars leftover for the recent skate park construction, instead of it being spent on said park instead. Ltown is a legit scummy place, there's alot of people (locals too) who live in the area that have no problem taking advantage of others.
2-3 weeks advance reservation require ..
Not worth the $20 for a one minute ride.
It's absolute crap.
Narrator claimed it was a 4 minute ride - either an outright lie or he counted the pull up the hill? Regardless, I am not going to pay $20. Have seen videos of the ones in Europe, they are 1,000 times better.
Yes the lift is included in the ride time, for commercial reasons obviously. In New York some of these cost $50-something per ride!
i went on it pretty recently it was great very exicting!
Pray the fentanyl zombies never touch this town
They’ll eventually get there.
Y'all seen that too?
This looks so fun
Hell yeah
"A rare bird?!" Not really. There's currently almost 90 alpine & mountain coasters in the U.S. alone. Lots more around the world.
I live close to Leavenworth, so I’ve seen this thing in person. But judging by that thumbnail, you guys used that thing most definitely looks like a death trap.
They are extremely safe. All are governed to around 30 MPH.
@@crooked-halo not according to the outside experts that came in and evaluated it. They found multiple flaws and things that could be corrected. Including things like broken welds. The things that could be repaired were repaired. But I want to say the independent experts were still like “I would never ride that”.
@@pratorian I'm a wooden roller coaster hobbyist & amateur historian. I'm no expert on mountain coasters but I have ridden around 20 & know a bit about them. The Tumwater Twister in Leavenworth opened last June, so it's only 7 months old. The manufacturer, Weigand Sports, has built over 300 in 40 countries since 1975, almost 50 years. Weigand only employs welders who are qualified to the high industry standard of ISO 9606. It would be highly unusual for a new mountain coaster to have "broken welds." Further, I doubt an "independent expert" would publicly state something as unprofessional & irresponsible as "I would never ride that." He/she could be facing libel & slander. I scoured the web for anything that would corroborate what you have said, but found nothing. How about a link or citation of your information?
@@crooked-halo I live in wenatchee, so most likely the article I would’ve read would’ve been in NCW Life(i’m guessing most likely it was here, since they’re a little bit more neutral with their opinions) or the Wenatchee World. I honestly don’t remember. It’s just something I remember seeing somewhere when they first built it. Also, it might not have been a broken weld more than just a spot that should’ve been welded, and wasn’t, or something to that effect. And I wanna say that whatever was pointed out, was actually fixed very soon after. And if you actually looked and couldn’t find anything, maybe I’m wrong. Maybe I misremembering something. You definitely seem to have a lot more knowledge on the subject than I do.
What you said about the company that built them, that’s really good information to know. Thanks for sharing that part.
I’ve always thought it was an abandoned water slide.
"Always?" It opened in June of last year.
@@crooked-halo The structure was there before. It wasn’t open.
@@saulavila8792 Tumwater Twister, the mountain coaster in this video, was built in 2022-23 and opened in 2023.
RODE TRIP! I live next door in Oregon!
I love this town ❤
I would love to visit it, I live a couple hours from leavenworth
Is this open in winter??? We are booked at Leavenworth this winter. Please say it is so.
They had to open this a year after I moved away ;0; how cool!
Looks like fun. No need or want to visit Seattle anymore but Washington is still a fine state.
cool story.
As a Texan, I agree! Washington is one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. along with Oregon, Northern California, Colorado, Utah. We lack spectacular nature like y'all are blessed with.
1:40 Building's looking a little trashy
Yeah they need to grade that gutter off the wall so the water goes into the downspout and not onto the side of the building. Then pressure wash or paint that part of the wall.
The building is looking trashy?A little rain gutter water runoff and the building is trashy?
And have a pedo flag hanging.....smh
