- "Things Even a Monkey Should Know" is a weekly show about things EVERYONE should know about doing fixes around the house, yard and cars. This week I am installing/changing out the water line on the back of my new refrigerator. The people who delivered the fridge said I needed to call a plumber for this. No way!

You are not just a girl, you are a woman with lots of courage. you go lady!
" Water line thingy " Love it.
Do we have to use technical terms? 😄
Nice to see a woman explaining the easy steps! Great work.
I also see the resemblance to Elizabeth Montgomery. Both pretty ladies. Also gotta love the ones who figure out how to do things on their own. Very nice video.
Nice presentation Tamara, easy to understand and follow. Thanks!
What an awesome lady. I actually learned a lot. I'm gonna show that ice make line connection who's boss tomorrow morning.
Ha! Awesome. Did you do it? How did it go?
Thanks for the video! I know how to install a water line but wow your video was so refreshing. Such a handy woman!! Love it 🥰
Thanks girl so helpful I have been waiting for 6years to do this thank you so much
Thanks, this was very helpful. It matched my setup and was exactly what I needed to know.
You should have a show on DIY...you're a natural in front of the camera. Well done!
This was really helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this.
+jocelyn pietri So glad to able to help!
Your talk so sweet sliced my heart
Thank you so much for posting these instructions. This was exactly what I needed for my situation. The other videos made the process look so much more complicated (and I honestly thought it couldn't be as hard as they were making it seem). Great video! I am subscribing to learn more from you!
I just bought a new Wirlpool like yours, and have same run across about same distance from sink, I have to put a tee in my cold line to supply water. Thanks fo video
Thank you so much for the instructive vid, you rock!
God bless you, your word as it said monky should know, mad frige works nicely,
Thanks,.got all the help i need to set up my new fridge 🙂
Thanks for the help. Great advice. BTW Love your editing style. That kitchen is amazing. I wish I could get enamel cabinets. Beautiful color scheme.
Very helpful. Thanks!
I love that color blue!
At 6:25 of video you said the connection is the same, uhh ohh mine is not the same!!! The new ice maker coil I have (similar to yours) has a female end that is too small for male end (main water line). Any help appreciated?
Great video. Awesome presentation, and the beautiful lady in the video is pretty smart!
I like this girls videos, very smart and pretty, I can watch her all day ! LOL !
You remind me of Elizabeth Montgomery. Nice video.
Very close resemblance actually... Good eye.
10:26 best part of the video including special effects and everything.
Very useful and informative video.
Great video like always Tamara. I did that not to long ago but had to add a filter onto mine where I live in the country and have hard water :(
***** Thank you! I can identify with your hard water troubles-I have them too. I am almost (not quite) to the point of installing a whole house filter because I'm so tired of dealing with the water.
MonkeysKnow I need to install a water softener. I have two whole house filters but it don't help much.
Wow! Maybe I just need to go straight for a softener too. Thanks!
most modern fridges with water and ice makers come with internal filters also.
Nice that was amazing...
Very good
Magnificent
Always put the supply line connection for the refrigerator or ice maker at the WATER MAIN. This insures the freshest water possible going to the refrigerator or ice maker. The reason is that when you connect at the water main, any water being used, hot, cold, indoors, or outdoors passes by this location. When I moved into my home the former owner had the water connection at the cold supply for a little used lavatory sink. The water there was almost always stale as that lavatory wasn't used much. This is not where you want your consumable water coming from. The freshest water is always at the main.
This is well done. I'm going to try this next week. I subscribed and can't wait to learn more. Hopefully there is another how to video on installing your dishwasher. haha.
Ha! Well darn. A dishwasher is one thing I haven’t done yet. With the current dishwasher being 15 years old that may come sooner than later though. 😬
Just an fyi, they make a leak sensor now you can put behind your fridge to let you know if you spring a leak. It's a small box that goes next to the water line and in the case of a leak, the moment it gets wet, it sounds a really annoying alarm.
A couple of comments. First, no need to empty the cabinets, if you have an adapter splice the new line with old line after disconnecting the old line and then use the old line to pull the line in place; if you don’t have an adapter (most homeowners don’t) just splice the lines using electric tape or even masking tape, just be careful when you pull. Second, you should have the line laid in place before making the connections and last, don’t overtighten the pressure connectors as it can damage the connector resulting in a water leak; proper procedure is to hand tighten and the tighten it with a wrench 1/4 to 1/2 turn. If water leaks, tighten the connector 1/4 turn at a time.
BTW, very attractive lady and one plumber rear end I don’t mind watching.👍
Wow. This commentator is precisely why women do NOT want to call a male plumber. Stop “man-spraining”. She was perfect. You are sexist!
10:25 lol
What the size of water supply line
Wow you look like Samantha on Bewitch
My refrigerator is across the room from my cabinets. How do I run the water lines?
Depends on how your room is set up. Is there any way to make a line around the base of the room? There also may be the possibility of running it through your attic.
Crescent Wrench? I always called them sweetish nut lathes
Unfortunately, I needed to see it done from scratch without a former line already installed. Will have to keep looking.... :(
Do I need to add Teflon Tape to the connections?
You shouldn't need to. The rubber washers should be tight enough without it.
great tutorial! Very helpful. I will check under my sink right now to see what I got going on there - praying the hook up looked exactly like yours, If so I am sure the install will be a breeze. Please work on the sound though, I had to keep adjusting the volume throughout the whole video.
I realized you didn't use a filter on the line which country are you in, I guess the water is pretty good to drink..
Some fridges have removable/replaceable water filter cartridges built-in.
Jeez im screwed. My new fridge is located all the way across the kitchen. Im trying to figure out how to run the water line.... I wonder if people run it along the wall? Thats the only thing that makes sense because if I run it across the floor we'll all be tripping on it everyday haha
I am sure you could run the line along the wall. Could you work it into the decor? Or maybe run it along the bottom edge of the wall and put trim over it? Just some thoughts. :-)
+MonkeysKnow I will definitely run it along the bottom edge of the wall. Unfortunately there's a doorway I have to get past which means I'll fish it upwards along the door frame and then back down. I will probably paint over it with a brush to camouflage it into the wall.
+MonkeysKnow Im also using copper water line. Just because its slimmer and easier to work with. Especially if Im going up the wall.
Wow! That is going to be some serious water line running! I don't suppose there would be any way to get another connection made in your kitchen from a different water pipe so you don't have to run such a long line?
+Harris Montevallo The house was built in the 50's so unfortunately nothing is setup yet, on newer homes theres already a tap setup behind the fridge space. No drilling thru cabinets, jst connect your waterline and go! Of course you can get something like that setup on any house but Im sure its expensive. I was told to drill into the floor, get under the house through the crawl space, and run the line under the kitchen floor. No thanks haha!
Dont use your old line .. heres why ...a little big disaster pain .. slow leak in the same type line that ran to my commode .. totally ruined my floor and the floor in my bathroom on that side around the commode is sinking in .. a lot !! Now Im going to have to pay someone to dig all that rotten wood out and rebuild the floor .. nope, no cement slab either !! Home with sills and blocks .. so huge pain and a lot of money. Cant even sit and do you biz... So, now and then take a peak at that line everyone ignores and or replace it every ?? so many yrs... So the same thing goes for the ice maker or other water lines.
WOW! With all due respect, but you are absolutely gorgeous! Enjoyed watching your video.
No need to fast-forward your videos. :-) I'm sure people can just click on the "play" line and skip certain sections.
Very informative video. Thank you.
Very hot watching you teach us. Thanks, easier to pay attention.
looks like a hot older kristan stewart
Wow your Gorgeous!!!
Please try to use GO AHEAD all of the time instead of several GO HEAD sometimes. GO HEAD means nothing, but GO AHEAD conveys an action.
