I just got completely fedup with totally broken "permissions" bullish, because it clearly shows that only Microsoft has permission to access your files, you are just a squatter on their property...

Worked for me and it was very well presented.
It worked perfectly. I bought a new computer with Windows 8.1 and the old computer I am sharing is windows 7. Everything worked fine. If I retrieve a file from a computer, can I print the file. I am having trouble with this.

I have created shared folder.I can open that shared folder in few systems in my network.Few systems i couldn't open that shared folder.When i open that shared folder i am getting this error message:"you don't have permission to access.contact your system administrator to access".Kindly help me to solve this issue
If the computer you are using to access the files has a different user ID and password, you'll need to use the user ID and password from the computer that is actually housing the files. Hope this helps!
Try to double check the work group name it should be the same, then restart both pc for recognizing some changes. thanks hope it helps

Great video thanks. I have an issue when I right click the folder I have setup to share to give it permissions, I click everyone,Add,read and write, then when I click save, I don't get the next pop up showing the name of the network path.

I was wondering if I can get help with a more demanding solution for network sharing then was offered here.
I have 5 pc's in the house: my brother's, parent's(x2) and mine(x2). I have a serving Desktop Pc(Os/win7pro) with everyone sharing "Read" Access to 12 folders on it. Now my goal ,in addition to "Everyone" is to share these same 12 folders in "Full Control" for my laptop only (Os/Win7Pro). Any leads, recommendations or solutions would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

I followed the steps and always get the same result, the shared folder doesn't stay shared, its shared for a random amount of minutes or seconds and then goes back to being a private folder, any tips?

I'm trying to share an installed program data from my base to laptop. I have the program installed on the laptop but I don't know where to go to access the saved items I'm trying to get from the base unit. I tried dragging the program icon to a shared file and it looks like it worked. Where did I go wrong?
doubting ill get a reply, but for some odd reason, it wont let me change network and sharing. it says "network discovery and file sharing are turned off. Network computers and devices are not visible. click to change..." and i click it but it says the same thing. this is on my desk top. i run a recording studio, but i travel with my computer with recordings alot. i need some of these audio files off of my computer so i can do some editing on my desktop. idk whats going on. im on Wireless on my laptop, and ethernet from my desktop. idk if that affects anything
Boy, lets see if I can help... Click the windows logo (start button) and select control panel. In the upper right click on "view by" and select "small icons." From there, click on network and sharing center. On the left, click on change advanced settings. Click the arrow for home or work. The first 2 options should be network discovery and turn on file and printer sharing. Make sure both of those are on. Let me know if that helps. Thanks for watching!

Hi Eric. The settings wont let me go past 360P. I have tried to refresh the screen and that does not work.
nowhere i've been, and nothing i've tried has worked (and believe me, i've tried) - the moment i try opening the shared folder on the partner PC (win 7), i get that old chestnut: Windows cannot access \\PC\shared, you do not have permission... i've been through a pile of tuts, forums, tried everything... still nothing... what am i doing wrong...
It doesn't work for me. I have two laptops with the same workgroup name but none of them can find the other in the network. How am I gonna work this? any ideas?
You might have a firewall that is preventing them from seeing each other. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Can we share specific file to specific network users?

I ran into an unbreakable wall at the "Map network Drive" step...I'm not a network person, so I have no idea how to fix this (Totally new computers, hooked into a common router) I get the error message "\\Computer1 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions."
Well as the owner of both computers, I would be the "Administrator", So I contacted myself and asked if I had access permissions, and I told myself that I have no clue how to set up said permissions.
hi i have just 1 dvd reader so i cant get the iso from disc to other computer but im thinking if it would have worked to share a dvd/iso (3 of them maybe all together or 1 by 1) to another computer? anyways if this works with what uve shown in this video id be very thankfull, thx forward!:)

Just my luck, this worked, but not on the computer I needed it too. I'm trying to share my TV and movies from my host PC to a living room PC. The living Room PC, Running 10 LTSC cannot locate the network path. But, I tried my Surface tablet with 10 20h2, punch in the network path in the explorer bar, comes right up.. Can't have shite in Microsoft land
