It's only fitting that Doug is doing this year's Nostalgia Critic Commercials video at his house since that's where the first video took place in 2010, all thanks to the director of My Pet Monster.
It's amazing that Doug's been doing these commercial specials for 15 years, and they're still hilarious. "Unforgivable" that one Red Bull ad, and the Trunk Monkeys were incredible.
I remember my dad talking about Trunk Monkey and he insisted on showing me because I didn't understand what the hell he was talking about. It makes me laugh as much now as it did for 11 year old Vinny
when he got to the Red Bull part, I thought he was gonna talk about another commercial. Here's how it goes: A crate of red bull is being loaded onto a ship but the captain says he only has champagne on his ship, the guy loading the crate naturally says it gives you wings but the captain asks why anyone would need wings on a ship, its then revealed that the ship in question is the Titanic
As one of the rare few who actually loves diet Pepsi, even I think the "Uh Huh" campaign blew it out of proportion. Very catchy anthem, though. Ray Charles was a legend.

The ironic thing about the Richard Williams "smoking is bad" commercials starring Superman is that his animation studio also made "smoking is good" commercials as well!
The wild thing about the Superman PSA's is that Richard Williams also did a ton of cigarette commercials as well. Giving off really mixed signals there.
I’m surprised they didn’t mention the reason why Red Bull changed from “Wings” to “Wiiiings” as it wasn’t by choice. Back in 2014, Red Bull was sued by a class action lawsuit (multiple people coming together to make a lawsuit) over the fact that Red Bull did not actually give them literal wings The fact the lawsuit happened at all isn’t surprising, bogus suits are filled everyday, what’s crazy is that they won Red Bull was forced to pay anyone who bought their drinks thinking it would give them wings. And since there wasn’t any sort of listing beforehand on people who thought Red Bull would literally give them wings, they set up a website that anyone to go on and say “I thought it would give me wings” and they’d be added to the list of people that needed to be payed. This ended up costing them 13 million dollars. ($13,000,000) and they voluntarily changed their slogan so it’s less implied that it literally give you wings
Funnily enough, Kingdom of Loathing has a parody item of this called "Can of Red Minotaur". Drinking it gives your character a few turns worth of an effect called Wings (which does nothing). Apparently, the effect was originally going to allow you access to an area as part of a quest, but the developers decided to do something different instead.
Here in Thailand, after the son of the Red Bull founder drove drunk, killed a policeman, and fled to Germany, we began joking Red Bull gives you wings! So you can comit flight from prosecution!

I think it's the only time where the script was flipped, with the questioner knowing it was pizza, and the answerer thinking they meant an actual tombstone, since the kid looks HORRIFIED at the question lol

Every now and then I bring up this commercial series to people at work as one of my favorite commercials I saw growing up because of how amusing everything about the commercial was! Although I didn’t remember the voice being quite that pitch for the eagleman. Glad to see this one covered!

It's funny how the thumbnail art for the first Nostalgia Critic commercial special referenced the Red Bull ads, yet he's only just NOW talking about them.
It cracked me up at 19:14 into the video when Superman says, “if it’s a puff you want,” before he blows his breath on the villain and crowd, because there is a kid in the crowd that holds his nose while making a look of disgust. It looks like he is reacting to Superman‘s bad breath instead of being grossed out by the unlit cigarette. 🤢😂
The corky doll's got nothing on Baby Laugh O Lot. The further back you go the weirder the dolls get. Heck Tangerine Dream's first album had a doll on it and I don't advise looking it up

Man i watched the commercial specials from day one and after every episode i can't wait for the next one. Sometimes when it's getting late at work i binge-watch the entire compilation. Please, please Doug never stop making them .
I've been unfortunately busy so I never really got to Doug's vids lately, so I'm really glad and got super excited when this came out❤ this is by far his funniest and oddest commercials vid yet, and I love it, 10/10 would recommend😂❤

My favorite thing about Corky is that he's the inspiration for Chucky from Child's Play. Matter of fact, one of the big selling points to those movies was how the Good Guy dolls truly came across as a real toy. It's the main thing that's always misunderstood about haunted doll movies. They never make a truly adorable product that would actually attract children into carrying it around. What makes Chucky so scary is how he hides in plain sight as a bomb just waiting to go off. While his character is hilarious, the build up to the reveal is what makes his character so shocking. I mean, he IS just a serial killer trapped in a toy's body, but it's how he uses that angle to his advantage and plays mind games with his victims that really strikes fear into people.
I just rewatched the commercial collection in its entirety three days ago, so the timing couldn’t be better for this. Thank you for keeping it alive, Mr Critic !

My favorite thing about Corky is that he's the inspiration for Chucky from Child's Play.
Matter of fact, one of the big selling points to those movies was how the Good Guy dolls truly came across as a real toy.
It's the main thing that's always misunderstood about haunted doll movies. They never make a truly adorable product that would actually attract children into carrying it around.
What makes Chucky so scary is how he hides in plain sight as a bomb just waiting to go off.
While his character is hilarious, the build up to the reveal is what makes his character so shocking.
I mean, he IS just a serial killer trapped in a toy's body, but it's how he uses that angle to his advantage and plays mind games with his victims that really strikes fear into people.
