    She’s got something that vibrating. Guessing it’s the inducer. Sometimes those old breakers get weak on one side and drop out. Reset will hold for awhile, glad you’re coming back to replace it.👍👍🇨🇦

    Saw you tapped disconnect to check for shock, you should always use the back of your hand for that so if it is live it won't contract the finger muscles & cause you to not be able to let go.

    Looks like a Crouse Hinds disconnect. They seem to rust very bad like that one is. Glad it was a relatively simple fix!! Need one if those every now and then 😊

      @mxslick50 7 месяцев назад +1

      That's a Zinsco/Sylvania breaker in the disconnect. Those breakers are notorious for failing with one leg open, both legs welded on and/or burned buss connections. Definitely a replace for sure.

    Just performed a repair on a neighbor's package unit that serves a large assembly area at his business. The inducer motor was bad and the wiring going to the motor was burned up. I initially figured it as just a short until I replaced the motor and fired off the unit. Rollout caused the wiring to burn but the motor was also bad. I vacuumed out the tubes and saw some pretty good sized holes. So, gas off and the had him sign my ticket stating that he knew the danger of operating the unit without the exchanger being replaced. Same exact thing on that one. Someone had D/C'd the rollout sensor.
    I have to share this one. Customer calls and says that his wiring inside the air handler was burned up along with one disconnect. He had another service company out and they repaired the wiring but couldn't make it run. No heat. I know the guy that owns the company and he's pretty reputable so I think, oh great, this is gonna suck. I go out to find a 20 year old 2 stage, 5 ton R22 York unit. Heat pump is dead. Both boards in the condenser are not showing any sign of life despite having power. At least we know why the electric strips were running so much. So, I move back to the air handler. Board was bad and I replaced. Heat strips fire off and I'm pulling 92 amps! The disconnects on the handler are 60's. My guess is that the strips have never fully sequenced. Maybe one bank or so over the years so no big deal. The air handler has 4 strips total. Two are pulling 21.3 amps and the other two 24.7 amps. You just never know what you're gonna find. Life is like a box of chocolates and sometimes they taste really bad!

    When you check that disconnect, check it with the back of your hand, if it is energized through the box you’re hand will automatically close taking your hand away instead of pushing it harder into the box

    For any techs reading this I need help/advice. In Arkansas during severe winter weather. My downstairs heating decided to take a dump this morning. A Trane package unit with natural gas heat.
    This morning I noticed a bit chilly and in checking the system I noticed the blower was working but the registers seemed cooler than normal. After some time the blower would shut off but my thermostat(Nest) was still showing a Heat Call(glowing orange) and temperature was not up to temp setting. I found that if I shut off the system and let it sit for a little bit and then turned it on again the thermostat would indicate heating followed shortly by the blower working. Repeat. I called my son, who's in the business but a little ways out of town and he told me what to look for.
    Burners were lighting but would only burn for roughly 10-15 seconds then cycle off followed by inducer motor shutting off. As soon as inducer motor shuts off it would immediately start again followed by burner light. And it would cycle this way multiple times.
    I pulled the flame sensor and cleaned it with emory cloth but that didn't seem to help. No failure indications on the circuit board LED. Currently roads will be too bad for travel for at least another day or two. So not sure when I can get someone out to check. It's like 12 degrees outside now but luckily I have some portable heaters keeping the chill off. I also have an upstairs unit that works fine.
