How fucking glorious is this!?! Billy had the fire for performing and Jimmy being the monster drummer he always is. Just throwing it down. Lovely moment in music.
@ODIN Force well, if you think about it, it's a little more complex than that, because what you say about today's music it's very similar to what people born in the '20, '30 or '40 used to say about '60, '70 and '80 music, and Rock & Roll in general...I partially agree with you, but it's also very interesting to compare with the past and expand our points of view :)
Whoa! I was unaware (or perhaps i just hadn't yet noticed) of this, and i SWEAR TO GOD, the very last show i watched was recent, i think from 22 even, Rodondo Beach?? And Drown was great, w the 3 guitars live assault they've gotten it down to pretty much play the old classic rock and alternative rocker songs of theirs at the actual album tempos and try to recreate as much of the doodles and noodles and overdubs as possible, SO while i was like marveling at how "wow Drown has never sounded so album cut ready pitch perfect" yet in the comments (was it you!? 😂) Someone was complaining about how they used to do Drown into Hummer and it was like a near-religious experience (or something like that, I'm paraphrasing here) but yeah, i literally made a mental note of that and said "one day I'll specifically search for an older show's setlist where they played those songs in that order so i can see if it's indictive of what RUclipsr Fan was talking about, and then, swear to God, i shit you not- the very next clip i click on is this and I'm only up to Rocket but i read your comment and HOLY SHIT im all excited now to see/hear it... Watch of course, when i actually get up to it, I'll actually remember having heard them do it before and go 'oh yeah... That' Well, hope not. Here's hoping I'm not disappointed
Look at the energy of the crowd !!!! , ... its a reflection of the band (most bands of the 90s), the times, the energy, the decade, the unbelievable luck of all the lucky stars coming together to give us this time in our lives we'll never forget, not even dead, cuz we'll tell the story to whoever we meet in heaven.
they were so 'ON' in this show.. they killed it...beautiful synergy.. shame they weren't still killing it together today ...love the original pumpkins.. takes me back to a happy time
I’ve owned this bootleg CD for 25 years. Today was the first time I’m watching the video. Many miles on the disc in continuous play, many great memories! First time I ever heard Drown was on this one.
+David Theisen they were at the peak - saw them in 94 at the Pinkpop fest in Holland ( check that one out on yutube ) and later in 96-97 . The big vide had diminished seriously but it was still genuine so far .
After some friends of mine mentioned Smashing Pumpkins I taped this show from a german TV broadcast in the Winter of 94. Never having heard the band before, I was hooked almost instantly. The broadcast started with the SP Logo and Rocket back then. I watched this concert over and over and was a fan ever since. I saw them live many times from 1996 to 2010 but I would actually give my left ball to see them live in the Siamese era. There is just nothing thats beats this setlist and this intensity.
I was at this show. I was told that this was recorded for a TV program in Germany. I saw the band Live as well at this same venue. Both shows were about 45 minutes with a "hard out". No encore, nothing. I went w/Germans to the SP show and we left right after the concert. I went w/some fellow Americans to the Live show. We hung out and met the band. I still have my ticket stubs from both shows. Actually, I have 98% of my ticket stubs from shows that I actually got physical tickets. It was a great show and I'm sure the only thing visible in the video is the back of my head which isn't worth pointing out. I never dreamed (back then) that I'd be able to see the concert footage. Yet, here it is!! I was to go to the Nirvana show, but a co-worker screwed me out of it. We were in the navy stationed just outside of Munich. I was the section leader and when I submitted my leave request, the asshat had gone around me and submitted his. I was in his direct chain of command but it was too late. The guys he went with didn't even want him to go w/them. I still have my Nirvana T-shirt from that show, and my buddy who wanted me to go w/him has his ticket stub. It was a great period for music, and a great time to be in Germany!!!
@@cygnustsp yeah very early '94. Billy hadnt black Sharpied the portion of His silver strat yet in recorded live shows as of October '93. You can look for them here on youtube. It's the same strat that you can see here in this footage.
He’s built like a Mack Truck! Massive arms and shoulders! Amazing drummer! Him and Dave Grohl are the best Drummers for the two best bands of the Nineties! They also recorded the two best Albums! Nevermind and Siamese Dream!
I was at this show. I scalped a ticket and got in as Rocket was playing. Eventually made my way to the very front. It was my first time seeing SP live. What a night.
I'm enjoying every second of this, but a song like Siva that I haven't cared about in years really shines here more than any other performance I've seen. It was sexy as hell! Jimmy and Billy's chemistry at the time..............roar!
Much better been a teen then. Which I was fr 91-95. My HS years. No responsibility, just a suburban brat that went concerts, partied friends, got laid, played baseball. Name a cool band fr that period? I seen em. Even Nirvana(93) and Sublime(95) Seeing Sublime was by total accident. Was going see STP, who was headlining the now infamous Weanie Roast concert in LA June 1995. Me and friend drove fr Kansas City to LA after graduation. Stayed LA for Month of June. Happened see a very cool ska/reggae band called Sublime. They were great. This was b4 they were famous. Also saw Gwen Stefani and No Doubt at same show b4 they became very famous months later.
Mosh pits! I remember that shit. It was cool to participate because NO ONE cared nor copped an attitude with egos soaring at an all time high like concerts, today (I.E., "Hey WTF, man!? "You almost broke my smartphone!")
Massive Fan.. Gish and Siamese Dream.. after that not so much.. but I think the Guitar sound along with Billy's vocals that made them so unique and special..
Geek USA missing? I was at that concert on Terminal Eins, Jimmy could not get the opening for the song together at all and Billy chastised him for it IIRC. This is basically footage from a year later with audio from the year before if I understand this correctly. There wasn't a mass of people throwing cups, just one or two Deppen. Savage concert all the same, The Verve supported.
The good old days, when people actually came to see a band, enjoyed their music and danced to it, instead of holding up their cameras the whole time....
I know man, I saw them myself somewhere in the nineties... Nowadaysm there's still good music all over the place. You should take a listen to Blaudzun, you'll like it!
man o man what a band its too bad billys ego got in the way i wish i could do the 90s again such a great decade at least we got 10 good years of SP im thankful 4 that all 4 of these guys made this band great it goes to show you cant just put anybody in there to replace them some people are unreplacable such as these 4
I don't see anything wrong with smartphones at gigs, they're just used to record this wonderful event they attended and look at it as many times they want so it's not just a memory. Plus, I'm sure the band doesn't give a fuck if the crowd mosh or not, they're just happy they're there.
The Pumpkins were the best at going from loud to quiet. The ending of Soma or the middle of Siva is a good example. The transition is flawless.
that guitar work with Jimmy's drumming is so fucking full and powerful.
The 90's.....when the vibe was real and there was excitement in the air.
How fucking glorious is this!?! Billy had the fire for performing and Jimmy being the monster drummer he always is. Just throwing it down. Lovely moment in music.
RIGHT!? always excited to see "new" broadcasts surface from the SP on Fire days of the way back '94!!!
One of the most severely underrated guitarists in history. Billy, you are God.
This is one of the rare early concerts that I’ve found where u can actually hear Darcy at an optimal level
When Drown goes into Hummer at this show is one of the best moments in music history. Wish I was there
It was like RHCP in Slane Castle playing By The Way, then jamming, and then Scar Tissue starts...so epic!

Well said, all of it. The Carbondale SD '93 concert was transcendent and the best I'd experienced after all these years.

this to me is and will always be the legendary "STOPPEN SIE THROWEN SIE CUPPEN"-concert! :)
thanks so much for putting this up in high quality!
The missing Silverfuck is available on Vieuphoria.
Thank you for uploading this concert. The Siamese Dream era live concerts were amazing!

Fuck Rocket is sooo good in this performance!!
wow. such a powerful performance. those were the days.
Made the concert tour at several locations in 93-94 in the U.S. The Pumpkins were the shiz!!!!
Chamberlen is killing it in this.
You are spot on Rouladenbob. Saw them late '80's Cabaret Metro, Chicago. Had no idea who they were beforehand. That changed quickly.
Thank you DrCopperpot. You do an excellent job editing, and uploading these tremendously long files :)
Yeah this fucking rocks !
Chamberland demolishes those drums during Quiet and....well the whole show.
Thanks for uploading all these great videos. Awesome set and nice quality :-)
i love corgan voice.
Great sound and energy. A+
Gutted about geek USA and silverfuck but still a great performance, and thank you for sharing it with us!

Jimmy Chamberlin; Best Grunge drummer. Go ahead, prove me wrong. That's what I thought, you can't!
Fantastic show!
