    Loved these 60's Jay Ward toons. Great puns, subtle humor , find 'em funnier now than when I was a kid in the 60's. Since the Duke, John Wayne, was around when this was made, wonder what he would've thought of this obvious parody of his vocal inflections.

    "When I'm off the sauce...." Heheh....
    "Let that be a lesson to you. Never trust a man that throws money around." True words.
    Receding Airlines... These are priceless puns.
    In six min we got more humor then most of today's cartoons do in 30 min. This is humor that is heavily missed from an old salt like me.

    Whoa! Fred called Super Chicken, "Cassius" no doubt this was a reference to Muhammad Ali, then known as Cassius Clay, who during this time period was famous for dropping Sonny Liston with his "Phantom punch" a punch that was so fast the camera didn't picket up.

    the reference to the punch where super chickens arm does not move is from the heavy weight fight between sonny liston and muhommed ali, then cassius clay. that is why fred calls him cassius in the next frame. in the original airing it was his cassius clay punch, but that had to be changed.

    They could have at least added real jet noise at the end.

    • @georgegates526
      @georgegates526 4 года назад +1

      In a lot of the old cartoons, they used sound effects from WW2. And jets sounded different then.They even went back as far as the 1940's for that special screeching tires effect. (Bugs Bunny). And yes, the falling of the Coyote on the Roadrunner show, was the whistling of a dropped bomb in WW2.
