The 60's were a good time indeed! I'd watch these cartoons with my older brother, (who has since passed away, and way too soon, at 63.) Now, nearly 10 years later, the memories come flooding back. What good times!!!
"Now we've got to get that picture to Washington right away!" "I thought Washington was dead, Super Chicken!" "Of course not, Fred! You should see it on Saturday nights!" Boing! Classic stuff!!
same thing that happened to kids shows in general - they started talking down to young people as if they were simpletons. Old school stuff was made for adults to enjoy WITH their kids. Even the newer Sesame Street and Electric Co. shows don't compare to the sophistication of the ones in the 70's, and if I go back and watch stuff that I watched as a kid,.I see them in a whole new way that makes me like them even more. Muppets especially. We treat kids like they are stupid nowadays.
I remember this one. I agee SexyLettie, I am a grouchy old man too but these cartoons make me smile like nothing much else on television today. Maybe its because we were brought up on this stuff but the cartoons today (with some honorable exceptions) seem just a little bit too smart for their own good. Who is there alive today with the creative genius of Jay Ward? No one that I can think of.
No one noticed the earth was sideways before Super Chicken did? And he got into outer space in like 5 seconds? And the villain can make elephants appear at will all over the world, as needed? I need a Super Sauce...
I feel there was a real missed opportunity for an "addressing the elephant in the room" joke, but still funny and nonsensical. I mean, tipping the earth off it's access by sending India elephants to america? That's so silly yet brilliant in simplicity!
Someone actually scammed a lot of people in 19th century NEw York like this. Told them Manhattan was getting too heavy on one end, and collected money to saw the Battery off. True story. What some people will believe.
I love this episode, and the fact he is reading a PLAY CHICK mag at the end, INCREDIBLE!
"No bay leaf, Fred?!" 😂
"There's no doubt about it Fred, we need more rehearsal!"
i sure do miss when cartoons were great, fantastic, and quick witted!! Elephant throwing pancakes on a stove.. at people.. priceless.
My favorite cartoon as a kid. Thanx!

Great stuff. I love the "tongue in beak" humor. ;)
You know this is the only episode I can think of that doesn’t have, When you hear that cry in the sky, you’ll know it’s Super Chicken!

Damn, that’s some good brew Super Chicken has there. I want some.
What a kids show: fight crime by getting plastered.
Not to mention a magazine at the end with nude chickens.
Say...how does Super Chicken get away with wearing no pants?
these old cartoons are so awesome. if stuff like this was shown on tv today people would loose their minds.

AND Super Chicken only found the villain by accident, anyway - looking for knockwurst.

I wish Salvador Dali had been asked to write a review of this show...

Super Chicken is eating MEAT!? HE IS A *CANIB-* Wait.. It's a sausage! Oh..
I don't think they had chicken sausage during the 1960's.
@@bigverybadtom Why wouldn't they?
@@yosefdemby8792 I've heard of a commercial for Tyson chicken hot dogs when I was a boy. Maybe they did, but I wouldn't know.

Daws Butler voices Prince Blackhole.
the funniest part is that super chicken is a guy chicken when all chickens are female.
Silly person. Hens are female, cocks are male. Chickens can be either.
