I really hope tropical diseases, only countered by quinine (which would be a very late game tech), make Africa very hard to conquer. Instead of seeing exiled Spain somehow grab half of it like in half my games of EU4
You could conquer it fast, but the pop would be crap and the province won't give much anyway due to disease. Also, your manpower reserve will suffer alot to get it, which seems to be way more important than in the previous iteration of the serie.
And because development isn't a button click, those provinces won't get as interesting as eu4 anyway.
tbf Portugal was colonizing already inland before any other in the congo and mozambique regions.
@@hotman_pt_ considering how many slaves they moved, it was probably worth it for them.
Besides that, some parts of Africa don't have any outstanding issues with diseases. North Africa & South Africa probably won't have the same issues as Central Africa.
Quinine, from the Paradox game Victoria 3!

I'm usually a "ghost" viewer, I like to see your videos but i'm not used to comment much. But now i want to give you more support. Thank you for all your hard work, keep it on. We love you
I appreciate that Diego! You're awesome brother, this helps a lot thank you so much! And thanks in general for watching my vids, it means the world to me ^^

Its called project ceasar for a reason. Its Imperator Rome 2. Set 1000 years after the events of IR1
oh that would kinda suck actually
@@eascidewhy would that suck wouldn’t that just be eu5 with a different name lol
We getting EU5 before the Ulm nerf, absolutely insane. Ulm is absurdly overpowered and they alway ruin my runs. One time, I had conquered all of the world except the city of Ulm [As Ottomans, by the 12th of November 1444], they and their ABSURD national ideas completely wiped my armies and destroyed my empire.
I am amazed that you have the courage to even mention their name! It's terrifying to even look their way.
What’s eu5? You talking about project Caesar?
Whats a ulm?
180 nations on a continent that, let's be honest, plays second fiddle in that game. And I still remember the time when having 20 nations or so in a TW felt big.
to be fair thats including the society of pops, and some of those are super small
It’s definitely a good thing tho. Hopefully this detail encourages the implementation of systems that make the continent as interesting to play as it was historically.
"Societies of Pop" is a great idea, but i hope they become real nations by an event or something like that
The diaries said that it's possible through certain events
They should be, as the amount of nations that pop up after are nuts
Like the Fulani nomads taking over Hausa people and starting a caiphate
@@kingpredator117 The fulani jihads is an underrated part in history
@@kingpredator117 That would be much much later in the game, Arab migrations into Sudan, late Bantu and Turkic migrations or Oromo settlers would be more relevant
If you still want suggestions for the "What we want" video well I am a little late to the party but I just realized a cool possibility concerning a part of your own homeland,since Braşov had special autonomy under the kingdom of Hungary and a "separate nation hood" that was only abolished in I believe 1868 what if you suggest for it to be a free city?Makes sense considering Transylvanian Germans are the ones in charge
Definitely release that suggestions/wishlist video as soon as you can. You can always make a follow-up later if you feel the need. What's most important is that Tinto has time to act on it.
+2
Great video as always!!
Awesome, I can't wait!
Honestly can't wait for release! Great vid showcasing their progress, my suggestion for hindering colonies in Africa and others would be for distance penalties to core market territories (which historically Africa wasn't profitable to run raw materials because of ships being inadequate to deliver large amounts quick enough, overcome mostly through industrialisation). The pop restriction is a good one, as Britain famously ran convict colonies due to pops being needed both back home and in more profitable colonies. Awesome vid as always!
Can't wait for Project Caesar universalis to come out!!
It'd be cool if there was a fog of war system that made it so you could only see around your capital area/king in real time and you'd need messengers to see the rest of your armies/provinces. The more messengers "assigned" going back and forth the more time they are revealed and can receive orders.
Also I'd like to see population age system
Xhosa pronunciation killed me 😭
Imagine starting in EU5, not as a nation, but a culture/population, and using mechanics to unite your people and form a nation, possibly even in the middle or taking a chunk out of an existing one.
Not sure if that will be a thing, but damn, the sheer replayability from THAT. Also anything like national ideas from a cultural standpoint would be crazy depth!
That WILL be a thing and it's crazy
@@mrhaci7747 I SO NEED to become the ridiculously large rebel stack and break away!
release the suggestion videos in sequences as you get the information, e.g. part 1, part 2...
Wow I didn’t expect so much depth in Africa for March of the Eagles 2
The sooner you get the feedback video out the better. You can always do another one later based on newer info
4:12 can't wait to go Gobir Mode
You could do a two parter of what we need from pdx eu5. Like the general consensus on mechanics now and second part after announcement on what comunity wants to add further and what they got wrong culture and province wise
Hi Ludi.
You seem so knwoledgable and passionnanted by History.
Have you considered making series dedicated to education on thoroughly thought ahead historical events with your speeches combinés with Eu4/5/vicky3/CK3/Imperator Rome MAPS ?
("Le dessous des cartes", a Franco-German documentary serie seen on Arte").
I feel learning history with you through Paradox Games' maps could be vert instructive & fun.
I feel you could be more successfull than competing charnels (Invicta, King's & Generals ...)
A thought ? (You might actually have done it and I havent't seen it)

I feel betrayed.
I want modding! Everything else looks perfect so far. The game is better than what I have imagined.
4:30 his is looking with disgust at the glorious nation of Owo
it will be really interesting to see how these societies of pops interact with settled tribes, and Madagascar looks like a mini new world that can be colonized by east african nations probably before the euros show up. That should make playing some of these counties a lot more interesting early on
The concept of turning Madagascar into a massive anticolonial fortress is gonna be interesting, fending off both West Asian and European polities
They did a similar system with ck3 recently
Given the lack of documented sources, I’m in awe of the work done by the EU5 team 🤩
After that joke Ifat now has to be the first country you play in EU5
You should release it sooner rather than later imo, as it would give paradox a chance to fix things and implement changes
Iran when Ifat walks in:
I think you can release the what we want from eu5 video soon, you could always make an updated version in the future if you end up having more to say after later developments (more views)
Nah Asia will have a lot more maps, we got the Middle East, Persia, Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, and North Asia
New Vic2 dlc look nice, I can't waits!
After being screwed over with my Stellaris purchase, I refuse to buy a Paradox game before 24 months after release.
But stellaris is an amazing game rn

Just release the EU5 What We Want video. You can always adjust it with more info if you like. PDX needs the info to course correct if it is still possible.
In fairness though we are still at least 10 weeks away from being done with the Tinto maps, and since they take extensive feedback for each one of those and actually properly implement it we can assume that they're not gonna announce the game, for which they'll at least want its "final map" to be done, until some time after the last one. And I say 10 because that's as few as I can see them still needing to do, since you could easily split some of these up into smaller, more detailed tinto maps to keep the amount of feedback managable.
1 (next week), Arabia with the Levant (Syria and Mesopotamia).
2, Persia (including Afghanistan) and the Caucases.
3, the entire Indian subcontinent.
4, Mainland Southeast Asia (what would one day be Birma, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia).
5, Maritime Southeast Asia (modern-day Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines)
6, East Asia (China, Korea, Mongolia and Japan).
7, The Eurasian Steppes, which let me remind you strech from the Carpathians to the Pacific, as well as Siberia.
8, North America and the Carribean.
9, South America.
10 (as always the afterthought), Australia and the rest of Oceania.
Those 10 are the MINIMUM amount of Tinto Maps I can see them still needing to do, and I think we can all agree that 3, 6 and 7 could easily be split up given how much "stuff" they have to cover. So at the ABSOLUTE earliest, we're talking mid-November before they're done with the Tinto Maps and their feedback. Add in the fact that it'll probably be a bit more than 10, and more likely you're looking at early-to-mid December. Throw in the Holidays and it might not be done until January.
Not saying it can't happen this year, but I am saying don't be surprised if they wait to "officially" announce the game with its release-date map shown off until the start of 2025. Obviouly I hope they prove me wrong, but let's also not push them to rush. I care more about making sure the official reveal knocks it out of the park and gets great interest than I am about getting said reveal a few weeks earlier. Still, it would be nice Christmas present to all of us if they can get it done just before that. One can hope....
Remember that the feedback maps will take a lot more time than the ordinary Tinto Maps, we're still on Poland/Ruthenia/Baltics which was the 4th one shown (although they did do Italy first which was the 5th), they will not be done with maps before summer of 2025 - they may even be working on them until 2026. I also think that there will be closer to 25-30 than 10 ordinary Tinto Maps of Asia, Oceania and America, so add that to the time tables.
I really love the direction EU5 is going, I can't think of anything to complain about with what we know so far. Some historical inaccuracies pointed out here and there, but mechanically, the game seems greater than every other Paradox title combined. My brain might melt while playing in the early days, but it seems like the gameplay loop should be complex and fulfilling.
Know what would be cool? For the low frankish in the lowlands to embrace Flemish or Dutch, it may be even an event. It makes sense to do this near the time they have a colony or a few. But maybe it can be done earlier by the player?
Just read the Tinto Talks, it has already been stated that the Low Franconian (not Frankish) culture will split into Dutch and Flemish eventually through events.
@@AFrenchGuyIGuess You can probably call it like you wish, it may not have had an official name since it was just a ton of dialects. It still is in a way. But thanks for the comment. I think I knew this already just forgot. But it bugs me slightly that they want things to be both historical and often not at all at the same time. So I just want to create Flemish asap. Sounds like a good idea to me.
I still wonder how they'r gonna deal with the bohemian fall, hussite wars and Václav IV - Sigismund brother struggles.
0:04 you shaved this is insane, you look really good also without your beard Ludi woah!
I'm going to claim that I'm going to wait 6 months after release to see what the game is actually like (looking at you Stellaris, Imperator Rome, Vicky2) before I buy, but I already know that I'll cave and end up pre-ordering it, then putting like 50 hours into it and going back to EU4.
You will know what the game is like 1-2 weeks after release, waiting 6 months to decide is absurd.
Gonna crack it until it's good enough

Why did the saltpeter on the western side of South Africa have a different color than the saltpeter on the eastern side?
If you have suggestions from your community, i think you should post the video now, rather than wait 6 months. Then the developers have more time to comsider and add the suggestions to the game before launch. You can always do a follow up video around the announcement 😊
It would be hella funny if Paradox actually released the game as Imperator 2.
Earlier, to try to influence paradox’s work
No Khoekhoe representation in Southern Africa beyond the culture? The various groups were nomadic there long before European exploration, and gave Portugal a bloody nose back in 1510 when trading went awry.

When i glanced at this videos thumbnail i thought it was Beavis and Butthead.
Gonna hoard books as Timbuktu fs.
if we don't get at least a half dozen tinto maps on asia, i'll be really disappointed
4:37 I thought Mansa Musa died in 1337, which matches eu5's start date. So Mali may be going downhill from there? I'm not super familiar with what happened after his death.
make two suggestion video, one now and an update with thing that aren't what you expected
EU V is going to run like ass 😭
5:54 there´re 6 states.
I just hope the world doesnt seem as small as it does in victoria 3
I really wish they would put more effort into fleshing out the world outside of Europe. My favorite thing about eu4 was that you could play every nation everywhere AND it was fun everywhere, and if eu5 doesn’t have that out of the box then it will be a downgrade in my book, especially because I don’t really find Europe campaigns to be very fun in the first place so I would be really disappointed if everywhere else didn’t get the same level of attention, at LEAST when it comes to filling the map space up with enough nations, like come on Africa is so empty here, you telling me I can’t have a kuba or Luba world conquest run???? Cmon man
If they reveal all of asia next, that would be good point for video release.
Bc lets face it, how many of potential EU5 players will play in new world?
It would give paradox decent time to make most important parts right.
They will do at least 12 (probably 13-14) Tinto Maps for the Asian continent (it's a lot bigger than Europe), and then separate feedback for all of them (and then perhaps 5-7 maps + feedback for the Americas) as well before even announcing the game. This is a mid-2026 release, don't get your hopes up for anything else.
@@AFrenchGuyIGuess I think they'll do what they did with the Africa one, basically stuffing more than one region into a single Tinto Talk. The Eurasian steppe or the native lands in America could be covered considerably faster that way
@@blue-d4g They will AT LEAST do the following maps:
* Arabia
* Persia (+ central Asia/Timurid lands)
* Mesopotamia
* Crimea and the Caucasus
* Siberia
* China (+ Manchuria and Korea)
* Japan
* Northern India (+ Tibet and the Himalayas)
* Southern India and Sri Lanka
* Insular Southeast Asia
* Maritime Southeast Asia
* Oceania
* North America
* Mesoamerica (+ perhaps the West Indies)
* South America
+ feedback for every single one.
Extra maps would be:
* Indian Ocean Islands
* Pacific Islands
* Perhaps Tibet if it isn't included in North India
That's 15 maps where several consists of multiple large regions (especially the Americas would be 3 very large maps), I personally think that several of those will be split up even more.
I want a thriving MP community and a stable baseline game that doesn’t causes
Idk I could see asia taking a ton of diaries. Oceania maybe one. Australia maybe 1. North, central, and South America taking 1 or so each.
It must be some kind of joke today's Somalia was called Ifat in the Middle Ages.
It not pronounced that way it's more of an E as opposed to an I 😂
First sentence : "The release is around the corner" NO LUDI NO, please stop teasing us, i know we have to wait at least six months.... Love your content tho
This multiverse would be more amazing
Release the video now, higher chances to make them change stuff 🌍
Don't let perfect be the enemy of the good.
Just post the video about what we want from EU5, and then you can make another video later as new developments emerge.
I really hope Romania will have some content and not be forget
Will have content probably but more later in develop. I hope more that will be more historical accurate because Romania in eu4 is quite weird. Existing of "Transylvanian culture" make me to disappear myself
Release the Ludi cut
First! 🎉
Mali empire will be the best
I love that colonization is looking to be a much bigger thing in EU V, if it stays the way it is now
Still needs tweaks though, like some changes in the horn region.
Africa wasn't weak enough at this time to be written off as doomed to being colonized.
This would only be the case way into the game, so africa should have some more nations starting.
the earlier u share your ideas the earlier the eu5 devs will see it meaning they are more liekly to act on those ideas
I must say. The only thing i truly desire for eu5 is a mechanic for armies to auto hunt enemy armies.
My main issue for current eu4 is that late game wars stretch since you have plenty of armies but the automatic siege mechanic is rather flawed from what ive seen.
An option similar to hoi4 where you can assign an army 3 modes.
(Careful, balanced, reckless?) Which would be nice. Making armies slightly less management heavy later game
Imperator Rome has this feature.
@@wotanvonedelsburg1610 haven't played that one yet but I was more missing it in eu4 mostly. But let's see where this goes first
Ludi moved to Middle Earth now.
Mansa Musa dies in 1337, unsure if before or after the start of the game.

Mali was so hard in eu4
Just my opinion, but the sooner you release your suggestions, the better. Can't hurt to get your feedback out there
I woud say do it now because if they do somting we dont want they can change it and if they do it beter as we want they know they are on the right trac but what i see it wil be the flagship if they pul it of
Reminder never to preorder anything

i actually dont want this to be called Eu5 anymore . its too grand and too encompassing Vic and ck and eu all together it will be downgrading to call it just eu
i am more into a grand name for new grand serie . something like Terra Universalis with a grand vision like Anno games since this game do have lot of vic&anno in it.
marketing wise calling it Terra universalis can also reflect that grandeur and make new players more curious especially none europeans who are new to paradox , if they see there is an EU but then there is TU they will find the later more interesting because its name alone would show its scale. to simply call it eu5 will do opposite reaction most those who dont follow dev diaries will think its a eu4 with new graphics and casuals often represent 90% of a playerbase
General Ludi has dropped another eu5 video Soldiers CHAAAAAAAAARGE!!!

i hope they make nagas playable in india
I hope they fill up Africa. I don't want the same eu4 thing of "There's no-one here", even the vic3 decentralized nations mechanic is better than the blank space with revolt button.
Perfection is the enemy of good enough. Release it sooner than later that way they have a chance to respond to it and modify the game. Who cares if there's some overlap with stuff they're already doing
Do it earlier, so they get time
Completely disagree on us getting a lower number of dev dairies for Asia than we had for Europe, as you've completely missed the fact there isn't as much to talk about Africa map wise as there is in Europe, which should be obvious considering the relative lack of states, societies of pops, and religions in comparison to Europe currently. After all, we had Egypt, North Africa, Western Sub-Saharan Africa, the Horn of Africa, and then the rest of Africa, which had very little states in it so got bunched together into one Dev Dairy.
Imo you should release it now, otherwise it will be less useful for the devs and the community. You could do another later on.
yes, Meet the most important part of medieval world, everyone waited for it... AFRICA!
Africa was actually pretty powerful in the late medieval period.
Especially north and east in how they stopped many invasions from the Europeans for a long time.
West was a but more isolated and fractured but not that weak.
Only central and south africa deserve the label of really weak in this period.
Also east africa wad instrumental in world trade by sea since the bronze age.
It wasn't until portugal found alternative routes that the east african grip on sea based spice shipping was weakened.
So actually it was quite important.
