My iphone 7 was restored and I keep it for months. I was surprised when I turn on the iPhone today, it was asking my password which should not be like this because I've already restore it. Then I found your page, I tried this right away. First, it was failed several times. Turns out I haven't update my itunes version. Second, my USB cable is no good (broken), so I had to switch the cable then the restoring could be completed. Like a dork I changed my passcode on my iPhone 8 Plus to a word at four in the morning. I changed it so my kids would stay out of my phone. I tried the iTunes thing with both iphone 6 & 7 (both hand-me-downs) & can't reset either of them! I got thru the screen lock on 7 but 6 is stuck on the lock screen & won't even power off... Mixed Emotions you can just restore everything to the exact or pretty close to exact point you left it. If you’re attached To Wi-Fi overnight your phone will restore it self from time to time while you’re sleeping and it’ll restore everything even text messages.

I tried the iTunes thing with both iphone 6 & 7 (both hand-me-downs) & can't reset either of them! I got thru the screen lock on 7 but 6 is stuck on the lock screen & won't even power off...
Also, the one I was able to get thru screen lock on, is black & glass covered, but it IS AN IPHONE 7, I looked up the actual prod number & plus, it only has a single hole punch camera...

My problem is that I know my Apple ID but the ID doesn’t match the amount of letters as mine...
Because it has to be the Apple ID linked to your iCloud. It may be different from the one you use at the App Store.

Mine reset and when i tried again it had gone back zero, did i need to pause before rebooting? did i wait too long? Ok, so i just kept rebooting every 5 mins and stopping any new download windows. That time the process ended and everything worked. Restoring firmware now. Thanks. Was getting complicated asking seller for her apple id. bought it used and she already gave me her pass code but i don't feel comfortable asking this stranger for her apple id! It was sent in the post!
