The 2024 Cadillac XT4 Is A Competent Small Luxury SUV With Class Leading Tech
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 16 июн 2024
- The entry-level #CadillacXT4 is the smallest and most affordable SUV in the #Cadillac lineup. For 2024, the #XT4 gets a new look and some serious upgraded tech from the fully-electric #CadillacLyriq. It gives this compact SUV the best tech in the segment with a massive 33" curved OLED display and some nicer materials to make it feel more like a Caddy and less like a Chevy.

Haters will always hate even when they haven’t driven or owned one.. this replaced my Benz GLA and there is no comparison…. Cadillac hit the nail…. Absolutely fantastic vehicle…
I've driven the pre-facelift, I agree that its an upgrade over the gla. Even comes with a way better warranty.
The q3 is my favorite car that I've driven in this segment. It has the perfect amount of screens and buttons. Doesn't feel as slow or as unrefined as the xt4.
This is way better than Mercedes GLA 250. I agree with you 100%.
This is nicer then all the german rivals in my opinion.
Pretty much just a more luxurious more expensive more powerful cx5
I’m sorry y’all I absolutely love this design language. I want to buy my mom one so bad. This car is handsome. Well done Cadillac, this vehicle needs the V treatment!!
This is the nicest screen I’ve ever seen in a GM product. Even better than the Escalade 😮.
Not necessarily better than the Escalade’s display, just executed differently. Both are pretty impressive. The Escalade remains the *only* Cadillac to receive LG’s 38-inch P-OLED Digital Cockpit Solution with 8K resolution capable of displaying pitch blacks with no light behind them.
This 33-inch display isn’t P-OLED so the blacks won’t be as deep but the colors are even brighter. It boasts a 9K resolution. So they’re very different.
@@G-RatedOkay okay you smart 🤓😂
@@rashaudl.1605 lol i just like their new displays, they’ve come a long way since the CUE system, so I know the difference.
i get compliments on my xt4 all the time. it's genuinely a good car and i love the styling.
I just bought a 24' CT4 Sport 2.0 auto with the Onyx Package. At a glance it looks like a Blackwing. I'm 68' and 6'4" with a bad back and it's a bear to get in and out of this CT4. I'm thinking the XT4 may be what this old guy needs to be in.
This thing looks great
Beautiful
The XT4 is not a platform mate with the Equinox. The Buick Envision is the only platform mate. Equinox is a totally different platform.
The xt6 need this interior bad
Supposedly getting refreshed next year.
@@davis6123no it’s not 😂
@@rtcturnemup7028how do you know ?
I had an xt5 and 2 xt 6s. The mode button for the drive settings at your fingertips are great because you can switch to sport on the fly.. I always throw it in the sport on off ramps and hard turns , and having full-time 4-wheel drive just burns more gas and tires I love that they give you a choice to leave it in front drive for most of your driving
Because 99% of your daily drive doesn’t require full-time AWD, but it does eat into your fuel economy and tire tread life all of the time that it’s active. I agree, Cadillac got it correct. Give me the option and allow customers to make the decision for their situation.
Great review ! Wish they would’ve kept the tri headlights like the preproduction model had or at least offer an upgrade headlight option like the Cadillac XT6.
Technically, Lexus UX is not the only hybrid in this segment. MB GLA and Volvo XC40 have a mild hybrid, and Alfa Tonale has a plug-in hybrid.
I like it snd think that while their are room fir improvements that have done a good job with the improvements made over the last model, nice review 👍🏿
Good point about the all wheel drive system
I love this car. I've been looking at 2019/2020 models.
🤦🏻♂️
God, the TURBO is so big😂😂😂😂on the engine hood, that screen is amazing❤
This does not share a platform with the Equinox, only the Buick Envision and XT4 are on this platform.
How Soyfan keeps letting his outdated perception of brands ruin his nearly perfect and informative reviews, I’ll never understand it. This vehicle shares nothing but stalks with the Chevy Equinox. Not even the same powertrain options now.
Not sure, but I don’t think the Envision is available with AWD.
@@robertherman1146 AWD is the only option with the new Buick Envision, it’s now standard.
The FWD option saves fuel. My XT6 has the same feature - when I'm on the highway in good weather and bare/dry asphalt, I'll switch to Tour mode (FWD) and the mpg boost is noticeable. If you don't want it, keep it in AWD. Yeah, it may confuse people but giving people choice is a good thing, no?
Shouldn't any car owner read the manual do understand such a basic thing?
Agree that adaptive cruise should be standard.
Beautiful mechine
The way he just hung up on that caller
Definitely not a GM and Cadillac fan but I love this front design
Sofiyan, pls do a segment comparing 2024/2025 EV vehicles.
Thanks
We picked up a 2020 sport and agree with just about all you have to say about this one. AWD should be auto. No need to select. And for the top of the line package, no adaptive cruise control or wireless phone charging. I like everything but the way it drives. Way too bouncy. The suspension get unset over rough bumpy roads to the point where it actually feels unsafe if had higher speeds. I came from a 2012 Tiguan SEL. What a great handling car that was.
Any info on this motor and transmission? Dependable??
Wish the XT5 got a refresh
I agree. No front drive option. It should be full time AWD like my brother's 2017 Ford Escape.
I wonder what the real world fuel economy is for his escape.
To anyone who has an XT4, how is the turbo lag? I had a turbo charger in a Ram and I swore I'd never buy another vehicle with it. The lag when you hit the gas drove me nuts
4k lbs of weight and just 235 hp, that explains the relative sluggishness. Cars just weight too damn much nowadays even without any electrification. But they have to meet tough safety and emissions requirements.
Yea but then they can add more power
I own the
Xt6 with 310 HP which is great but my friend just bought a xt4 for his wife which I drove and I have to tell you it's pretty fast.the car jumps off the line great. I don't know why people put so much emphasis on 0 to 60 times anyway I never floor my cars
The cx5 has 190hp 185lbft and is close to 4000 pounds with only 6 gears
@@GoldRaven-oe4by my 2021 touring preferred 2.5L with 187 hp is 3541lbs curb weight, big difference.
@@tgrigor1That's super close to 4k weight tho...
I have a 2020. They really needed to update the engine and suspension in this vehicle. The engine is buzzy and has major turbo lag. The suspension is soft but harshness makes it way through. I would rather have firm but compliant then soft with poor handling. I will say with 83k miles it has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever purchased.
Agree w your assessment. The car was surprisingly unrefined for the price tag.
Not even close. Dont think u guys even drove one. Mine has no turbo lag, its quiet and gets up to speed quickly
@@MrMuchachos75You can hear the lethargic engine in his video. 😂 Nothing happens until 3k. 0-60 in 7 plus seconds. Yeah real ‘speedy” in 1982. 🙄 Owned and still own since 2020. I guess it’s fine for my wife. Other than reliability it misses the mark for me.
@@mrsmith8531 In 1982, very FEW vehicles could get under a 10 seconds 0-60.
Needs Supercruise!
Which one is better lincoln or this cadilac?? If i wanna buy
I would probably buy a Honda over a Lincoln.
Sofyan, isn't the Q3 horsepower quoted at 228? That's less than the Caddy (although not by much). I love the interior of the Caddy, but if forced to chose, I'm going Q3.
And that is the upgraded engine, I believe the base Q3 is 184hp
Needs a V model
Veramente molto bella
I'd personally pick XC40 over this. With that said, the Cadillac looks solid, but it has some really strange choices, such as that AWD situation, the door handles, and the (no) auto-up rear windows. It is bizarre considering the amount of tech they put in this car. But it's an attractive option still. I think it will sell well.
What’s the issue with the door handles?
@@davis6123It's not a big issue, but you have to approach and push the button. All other cars in its class let you just grab the handle and it unlocks as you're pulling it to open the door.
I don't think the XT4 and the Equinox are actually on the same platform. This platform is from the now gone Buick Regal.
Love the screen! Don't love the buzzy engine.
Debating getting this or waiting for the new Buick envision. I believe they are based on the same platform.
Nice car but the prices are getting ridiculous
I didn’t realize was February 6 almost months 2 ago info entertainment system snitching 😂
This is a good city car daily driver. The powertrain is refined and the ride quality is very smooth and comfortable. The interior upgrades are very upscale and class competitive. IMHO, it's much better value than Audi and MB although it's not a sporty model like a BMW. GM did a great job and I think this is worth at least a test drive. Great review!
Finally, interior refresh. Too buzzy though. I agree about 2wd and awd button.
I think the curved screen looks ridiculous compared to 2 regular flat screens
@@JamesMichael333that’s hilarious since nearly everyone in the business right now with 2 flat fully digital screens are trying to mimic this curved single pane display.
@@G-Rated Thats hysterical. I think the curved looks like crap. If anything make it a long flat screen. What if the passenger wants to use it while you’re driving. Im guessing they cant see the curved one as well. And to the driver it will look the same regardless. You’re not using it to watch TV.
@@JamesMichael333 You’re just dumb. Passengers can still use the display easily due to its positioning inside of the dash and distance from the two front passengers. You only think it’s ridiculous because you’ve never experienced this interior yourself before.
To the driver, a curved screen is much easier on the eyes than a flat screen facing straight to the backseat, especially a curved touchscreen. It’s far more ergonomically designed than you’re willing to give Cadillac credit for.
Cadillac really needs to offer the 2.7L engine in the XT4.
I am currently driving a 2024 xt4 as a loaner car. I do like the interior upgrade, but the engine is awful . It's loud and sound unrefined, definitely not what I expect from cadillac. My other 2012 cadillac cts is much more refined and quite .
Needs another 50 horsepower at least as an option
You know what happens when they boost the power? People whine about the fuel economy. But yeah, I get it. There's never enough power.
Can’t stand this new split headlight trend. Makes every new car look exactly the same
Those complaining about price you can blame the fed.
Hate that headlight separation theme these manufacturers are doing now! Looks like they're trying to recreate a design that doesn't need it! Ogghhhh😕🥴
$54k is actually not bad! I have a '21 Palisade Calligraphy OTD for $51k. The wife and I will soon be looking for another SUV. This one has always been nice and I'm a sucker for screens! We don't need 3 rows so this might be on the short list.
No piano black, thank you.
Sofyan, why do you always do a 0-60 second test going slightly uphill? You seem shocked it’s a little bit slower on every video I watch. Enough. Do something else to fill up the time.
Yeah, i kinda happened to notice the same...
When do you think you’ll start caring about the fact that you are triggering everyone’s Google devices in their home?
There is absolutely nothing like a Cadillac fresh brand new Cadillac of the showroom floor.
La verdad es que hay gentes que le gustan las porquerías. 🤦🏻♂️
Needs thigh extensions that are standard on almost all german competition.
Are auto up and down switches really that expensive? My vw golf has that. It's little things like this that maintain my uncertainty with GM. A (semi) luxury SUV should have a pass through our 3 split rear seats, like pretty much every German vehicle.
60k with tax lol 😂 what a joke !!! These auto makers really have to wake up !!!
I despise the 350 badge on the back, makes no sense and majority won’t get it
Just wait a couple of years before you buy a car w/horrible depreciation & get all that ‘luxury’ for cheap.
They keep shoving anemic engines in these luxury suv's. The CX5 Turbo is almost a second faster for 15k less
The starting prices compared, the CX-5 Turbo is only $2,000 less. Besides, they're not even really competitors. The Mazda competes more closely with Buick. Also, it is a size class larger, so it's logical that it would have more power. Besides, it only has more power with the upgraded turbo engine. This is the base engine for the Cadillac and it is a tad quicker than the CX-5 base. Even the turbo you're referring to is only less than a second faster. There is nothing anemic about this engine.
Nothing "anemic" about this engine.
Envision is completely the same for 10gs less... and I believe it's getting the same screen
Pretty interior but it's laughably overpriced
Looks like the Toyota Crown Signia would be an upgrade from this.
No the crown Signia will be slower
@Brian_Eugene_Lee me too. The signia us honestly boring to drive
In what way???
@@davis6123 it doesn’t look as attractive as the xt4, the interior isn’t as nice, screens are smaller, the hybrid is noisy and unrefined and it’ll be expensive
@@naveenthemachineno, I agree with you. Confused as to how the original commenter thinks the Crown Signia is an upgrade over this.
This would go well with my beige Velcro shoes.
235hp and 0-60 in 7sec? That is sad. The 2L turbo in the Solstice almost GXP 20 years ago was making 260hp, 290hp if you got the dealer installed tune. Car market is going in the wrong direction. Prob to condition (force) people to buy electric
But it’s not as bad as you might expect
For example there are slower vehicles in the class. NX and UX especially are slower and in some cases more expensive
@@naveenthemachinethe similar priced NX350 has a. 0-60 of 6.5 seconds. Waaaay faster. The ux is an entry level compact costing nearly $20k less. So of course it'll be slow. Some Camrys approach it's price.
@@KAYJAYSTUDIOSYT 6.5 isnt easy to achieve. It’s probably slower in the real world. I’ve seen real world testing at 7.12 seconds
Also yeah top model Camrys are similar in price to the xt4. Especially the v6 models
@@naveenthemachineQuit lying. You are just a typical ignorant hater.
@@naveenthemachine Then by that logic, this is closer to the 7.5-8.4 second range in the real world.
Still significantly slower.
Not sure why people would be impressed with that long curved screen. I think it looks ridiculous. Id rather have 2 separate screens that aren’t curved
4:18 hood is misaligned with the fender, that's the Cadillac quality, that's a GM product. Also, if you want to experience electrical problem like the whole dash and info screen black out while driving, buy one, don't ask how I know👍🏼
Only Cadillac would consider this huge car a sub-compact.
Because they understand what their customers want, and that’s space and practicality. We aren’t in Europe, we need larger vehicles for the sub-compact spaces. It’s not compact.
@@G-Rated Exactly! This IS big for the segment, and that's the point, just like the Mazda CX-30 is tiny for the segment - that's Mazda's preference in every class. They're usually smaller just like Cadillacs are usually larger. It would make no sense if all vehicles in the same segment were the same size. Offering variety is how different companies stand out.
If you're looking at this vehicle, you've already committed to the idea of a German alternative. At this price, why should someone NOT consider a very well-equipped GV70 2.5T instead? More power, more capable, more striking design, and better interior? My dad drove Cadillacs and Lincolns growing up so they have a special place in my heart, but this just isn't competitive...
It’s not as uncompetitive as you think. I’ve seen much worse than this.
100% agree
Gv is hideous and its interior isn’t as good. It does make more power.
@@Stanley112803 said only non serious people. The GV70 has won actual, widely recognized design awards, including the 2022 Good Design Award and was one of Wards Auto 2022 10 best interiors. I don't believe Cadillac has won any such awards for the XT4, and its interior is full of hard plastics. The GV70 is just a better product, through and through.
@@Stanley112803 You are of a singular mind and it's not a good one. Everyone (except for you) agrees that the GV70 is one of the best looking cars being made today.
Xt4 has always looked good just to pricey and weak engine
The seats are amazing and so are the screens, but there’s just too many odd quirks in this car that I can’t get over for the price. The lack of auto-up rear windows, the old-school style buttons on each door handle to unlock/lock the doors, the fact you have to select AWD when you need it (which most people will forget to do), and the slow and fuel-INefficient engine. To me, these things are the biggest flaws in an otherwise good package. But the flaws are just too big to consider this car over any other car in the class, and that’s a real shame.
Sorry, my parents bought a Buick Riviera and then a Cadillac El Dorado back in the '60s. Then a Lincoln Mk III and a Mk IV in the '70s. The '70s MB 450 SEL was alright. But I'll never buy a domestic car again. 😢
how is this a sub compact if this is bigger than the Corsair?
@oxtinposs9451 yet why is a .2" difference makes one a class above the other?
@oxtinposs9451 Fine, I'll give that to you
I would pick the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus over the XT4.
The nautilus isn’t an xt4 competitor. That would be the Corsair
Calling this small is like calling a elephant small also putting a 2 liter engine in a 4000 pound car is the stupidest thing ive ever seen. Should come standard with at least a 2.5 with at minimum 250hp and 280lbft
I don’t understand why they won’t just put a v8 in these suvs yes they are small but they still are suvs with high price tags they schould at least have v6 as standard
You can buy a bmw x1m, and get way more performance for 5 grand less
The base X1M35i starts at $50k. Add the options most would want to and it tops out at $57k. So, basically the same as this XT4, but yes, with much more power with 313hp. This Caddy would greatly benefit from their 300hp powertrain, but of course, they would stupidly add another $10k.
It’s a GM. No thank you. Money better spent on a Lexus.
Yeah no it’s not. The Lexus corollary is worse in every way
no rear middle headrest is a safety concern! And no auto hold is a killer.
235 HP? Oh hell no..
I really hate the buzzy powertrains in a lot of Cadillac's vehicles.
54k wallllllliiiiiinnnnnnnnnn
drove this and others, bought a Genesis GV70
It’s not as bad as it seems. I’ve seen far worse SUVs
I’d pick the xt4 over those even worse SUVs
$54,000 LOL for a GM
🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
They need the twin turbo v6...booo cadillac 😢
the exterior of this car looks like it was made in 2015
GM forcing you to manually enable AWD is frankly dangerous. My Mom had a first gen Traverse that was "full-time" AWD as there were no drive modes to adjust, how it should be. Her second gen has a drive mode select that lets you go between 2WD, 4WD, Sport, and Trail. If you put it in sport or trail, the next time you start the vehicle it will go back to 2WD, thankfully it will stay in 4WD if you leave it in that. She had a really hard time driving in the snow one time and when she got home I hopped in her car and what do you know it was in 2WD because she accidentally changed it once 🤦♂
That engine is so small. Are people just used to small 4cyl now?
Well, yes. It’s the exact same sized engine you’ll find in all of its competitors: Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Lexus, Volvo etc..
Nope.... Chose the Genesis GV80TT Prestige
Cadillacs needs more improvement .
One example. Just like we were taught in school.
0-60 in 7 seconds is slow AF.😂 Especially for $54k.
But a Lexus nx that’s the same price is as slow if not a lot slower.
Just imagine a blazer or caddy xt5 with that same engine ohh n the buick envision 😂😂 very slow n bigger
That immediately turned me off. Makes me feel like you're paying 25k for the interior
@@shawnharris7747wait till you figure out that they actually do
What races are you going to actually be involved in with this vehicle Forrest??
That screen is beyond stupid
Interior is nice but slow af and not refined enough. I'll take the new Audi Q3 over this any day.
LOL, even the UPGRADED engine in the Q3 is less HP.
כמה לבל שגם השנה שכחו את הקונים ולא תרגמו את המכונית לעברית ממש בושה ליצרן
You lost me at “4 cylinder”
all cars have 4 cylinders
4000 lbs? It’s smaller than a RAV4 which is only 3500 lb lol
4:39 not this thing again. Those proportions looks like a cheap chevy.
That’s definitely not a powerful engine. Tf
I would take a Kia Sorento over this. 54k for this is robbery with that shitty engine
Sounds like a shitbox when hammering down.
