Going frequently to Malta, its just an amazing place to be. That goes for being under and above the water. You get everything, from caverns, caves, wrecks, beautiful sea grass & amazing life. It is truly a place I'd like to live.
Hello James! I got my certification on my birthday, I've been taking workshops and courses. And my boyfriend and I are headed to Honduras in June for our Advanced open water certification. Love your videos, they've been a great addition of knowledge for our scuba career/adventure.
Hi James's I have just come back from Malta . Where i have just completed my Wreck diver these are the wrecks i did patrol boat P29/ MV Rozi / Um El Faroud/ I also did my EFR /Rescue course i have been diving since 2010 But only dive when i am holiday I only have 200 logged dives as i try and get 10 dives when on holiday Doesn't sound a lot. BUT i now have Master Scuba diver certificate. I don't intend to go any further with this as i am not likely to work in a dive centre. I has not sunk in of what i have do I hope you are proud of what i have done so far
AAAAAAA :D welcome to Malta :) I'm a baby diver, even more of a baby techie, and looking into making the switch to CCR purely based on the enormity of sites available that I'd like to be on trimix for. I've been referencing your channel for information for a long time and I'm so glad you enjoyed Malta.
There's so many wrecks on Malta (well, Gozo) that are just about reachable for experienced rec divers on air and single tank. Sure, you won't enjoy it as much as you would with proper tech gear (you spend 20 minutes in the wreck and then another 10 hanging on to a buoy rope/chain serving deco on air - not ideal), but we coupled it with living on a catamaran, so it was great vacation. And honestly, not sure why you are so derogatory of the Hephaestus dive. It's fairly fresh wreck and swimming through the oil tanks is really cool.
I am glad you have enjoyed Malta! From an avid scuba and tech diver here im very happy you enjoyed it here! Next time, make your trip longer, more wrecks to enjoy here, from shore and from boat :D
Malta is awsome :) They have a structures older than pyramids there. It is a place not only for one visit - so many places and wrecks to explore for each diving level.
Some great footage there... We almost crossed paths as me and my buddy were there for 2 weeks early May. We also dived the Hephaeseus (nickname hepatitis for ease) for the first time this year - last time i was in Malta in 2018 it had just been beached. Next trip we will try and do the farther out wrecks👍
They will publish the manuscripts for sure. They had a stenographer recording all sessions. Not sure about video content. I didn't see anyone filming for RF4. (I did offer!)
in which Month did you dive there? I will dive Gozo in a Week and think about the choice of Suit . Either 5mm Wet or Avatar drysuit. How cold has it been in depth ? Kind regards from Germany
I am going to Malta 🇲🇹 in September. Any recommendations for someone that has only been diving for 4 years but is not a technical diver (not yet at least). I have my advanced open water and 45 dives under my belt. Any recommended areas?
Awesome videos, James. I was concerned with the first wreck with its seeming, lack of fish population, then the second wreck had a noticeable amount of marine life. Is that due to the Mediterranean over fishing, or normal for that depth? Looking forward to more Malta dive videos, and especially all the rebreather knowledge you can throw at us.
The very first wreck in the video is newly sank so not much growth on her, which means not much fish. The second and third wrecks were deeper and down longer and had better growth, therefore a more self-sustaining food chain and more fish life. Overall though, over fishing, factory ships etc remains a massive problem all over the Mediterranean.
Malta used to be up there near the top of my list of places to dive in Europe. However, their government's recent persecution of divers has changed that. They are the first place to attempt to convict a dive buddy for the death of another diver that happened in 2020, claiming "involuntary manslaughter". They wanted to imprison Castillo for two years for a fake crime he never committed, and had absolutely zero control over, after falsely convicting him in a Maltese court in 2022. It took a year and world-wide screaming at the Maltese government before a different court judge would overturn the ludicrous ruling this year in February. And this isn't even the first time Malta has done this garbage. Back in 2015, a Maltese court did the same thing to Steven Martin, maliciously putting him through the legal ringer for 18 straight months. Despite the fact that the ruling against Castillo has now recently been stricken down, Malta has branded itself as a hostile nation toward diving as an industry, and caused many divers to stay away. Some say the ONLY reason RF4 is even being held there is an attempt to improve the nations publicity and image as a diving destination once again. Sad as it is, because of all the amazing diving possible there, but you can't fool me. Malta has an established trend now of being a hostile nation toward divers.
Thanks for the advice, looked through the website and everything was a bit deep for us so we did our deep course with them. Completed it today, really professional group but also friendly and fun.
Have you heard of the recent freak accident in Tubbataha? A yacht sank due to a suspected squall. I believe 4 are missing out of the 30+ liveaboard guests.
Sadly out here in South East Asia a number of historic wrecks including the cruisers Exeter of the Battle of the River plate fame as well as the several other Dutch cruisers which are war graves for several thousand men have been plundered and removed from the sea bed by scrap merchants and their remains dumped. Even the battleships Prince of Wales and Repulse have not gone unscathed. Sadly these countries do not realise the immense dive tourism draw these wrecks have for the diving community and do little to stop it.
Look, I live in france, I have dived the pmditeranian, it is fished out they have eaten all the fish. look at your video. However there is a hidden jewel in the mediteranien. Ustica. From my mpemiory the first of the natural reserves in the mediteranien. Now get this, the fisherpmen of the island asked asked trhat they establish a no fishing zone around the island. To stop the fleets from P°alermo fishing it out. I dived it(, this is the Mediteranien that Cousteu saw. There are Fish. Now I travel the world, diving, anhd I went bacdk to Ustica, That means it is SO GOOD. See the Meditaranien a Couysteu saw it. If you are interested you know how to find me. It is not tech, I think I did 38 metres on one dive. You know how to find me'
Really glad DiveWise got a shout out - I did my advanced open water there and loved it, hugely smoothly run operation!

Thanks James, looks beautiful.
I'm Maltese! Glad you enjoyed it. Did this dive too.
Wow the video quality on the wreck is incredible!!
Loved it, James! Wish I went to RB4…
What you do underwater is absolutely amazing. Your diving skills are impressive!
😎👍🤿🇵🇭! Great video! Thanks!
Glad to have you in malta, some great wreck dives over here

Hi James thanks to come diving in my country I am really appreciate to come. Thank you for your videos really interesting counting you learning us.
Thanks for making this video on Malta, I’ll be experiencing some of it’s wreaks for myself in September!
Nice clip as always Jamesy. Interesting to hear about future rebreather updates.

Welcome you to visit Labuan, Malaysia. We have 4 beautiful wrecks here to explore.
just been to gozo myself, weather and diving conditions were perfect for my 12 day holiday!

it seems a bit lifeless in terms of marine life. Or am I mistaken?
@@lidiastarkova2323 That is true if you compare it to Thailand or Red sea. I would say it is different but still I recommend to visit.

I really wanted to go but the price of the conference put me off. 400+€ is ridiculous! Can’t wait for your reflections and report!!
Great description of Allan and his crew. They're propper legends. Le Polynesien is a nice wreck. A bit sketchy to penetrate but there's lots to see.
So cool! Seems like not that many fishes there though
Do you think they will post recordings of Rebreather Forum talks on RUclips?
They will publish the manuscripts for sure. They had a stenographer recording all sessions. Not sure about video content. I didn't see anyone filming for RF4. (I did offer!)
@@DiversReady I can't believe in this day and age they didn't record or stream all the sessions...
Great looking wrecks! Can you tell us which rebreather are you diving? And why did you choose it?
Amazing wrecks! what were your BT and RT on these dives?
BT35, RT100ish
in which Month did you dive there? I will dive Gozo in a Week and think about the choice of Suit . Either 5mm Wet or Avatar drysuit. How cold has it been in depth ? Kind regards from Germany
Please put out a video that lets people know when you arrive in dive places for example guam. So we can have a chance to meet you

Curious if there's anything to see there within recreational limits. I'm not, and probably never will be, trained for 200 ft. rebreather dives.

How do you kill time on decomposition stops?
Heading to Malta in June, any recommendations for a recreational advanced, wreck diver?
Speak to my friends at Divewise Malta!

👍
What's up with the way bailout and deco bottles are carried about 3 and half minutes into the video? Is there a reason they aren't streamlined?
No clue. Wasn't me!
Just so happens we are off to Gozo tomorrow, with a drysuit of course. A little too cold for a wetsuit this time of the year.
