I found out today UPS hires seasonal Feeders, that's definitely something I'm interested in.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Your stop counts during the packet were very impressive. I suspect you had already passed when the sups started rushing you back at the hub. They weren't trying to make you deliver faster, or make you skip breaks. They wanted to see if you would sacrifice safety under intense pressure, make mistakes and cause a crash because one top performance driver who crashes to make scratch is a lot more expensive to UPS than a few slugs who follow good work methods. You could have taken your breaks and rolled in at 8 or 9pm and they still would have been satisfied.

Hey I’m a rookie driver myself been driving since July. If your still going out heavy with stop counts like that I suggest taking your time and taking your breaks . Don’t be a runner trust me I can knock routes out myself but your only shorting yourself pay . If you turn a 10 hour route into 6 hours or 7 your just asking for more work 😅. I personally take a 45 at 1:30 and keep a 15 in my pocket I save it before I delivery my last 20 stops once those stops are gone I should have already earned my next 15 min break and I use that before I even head back into the warehouse . Yes your out all day but it beats prelims , helping out other drivers or finishing the work of the full timers because of the nine five rules

Hey E. Passed my ups class for delivery driver. They told me to wait for a call for a route. They sent me back to package handler. :( how long should I wait? Are they playing me?

The volume been low, I’ve been working in the hub for past almost 3 months now. For me it may be until July until I’m back full time driving

Warehouse Work ~ 8 Hour work
Yeah, not how that type of work works. Why at FedExpress(at least my place)it’s a 4 hour shift split morning and night. Also, skipping lunch is a no go for me. I won’t work for a company in which they don’t even account for that. That’s literal insanity. Either way, I know everyone is different but personally after learning what I did about the industry, I need to learn some actual tradable life skills then driving big trucks. Delivery can be a really good job. But it’s a no go career for me. I won’t put my life in the hands of companies. Not when I can learn something I can barter with my own hands or brain for. Guess I’ll have to settle with Express for a little while longer.

I no longer skip lunch since I am out of the 30-day packet, trust me I refuse to give them any more free time. The warehouse work bit weird because I do not do 8hrs straight. We have 3 shifts with preload being 4.5 to 5 hrs, day sort 3.5 to 4, and twilight being 4.5 to 5hrs. There is a 3-hour gap between preload and day sort in which I take an hour and a half to two-hour break then come back and find something to do until the day sort starts. That allows me to get OT for the day and potentially make more in the day than I do driving. But in all honesty, it is ass and stupid I wake up at 3:30 am and do not get home until 4 maybe 5 and I am only being paid for 9.5 to 10.5
I plan to be here for the 5 to 8 yrs so I can top pay rate and invest the money I make to make my life better.

@@elexust730 Man….that’s brutal. Why can’t people just make normal jobs or jobs normal? Lol. It’s a plot I tell you! A SCHEME! 😫🤭 😋 Personally, as far as investments goes, I’m looking into building a 700 square foot house somewhere that zoning allows for it. Would be a miracle if any company would take a project that small even fully paid up front but If not, maybe the mobile life will call me one day. Love and live life to the fullest NOW! (At least that’s what my mentor says)

If you make Feeder it's the best CDL job in the industry and you don't have to break your back.

my story is exactly the same as yours so I feel this 1000%. I started with Amazon went to ups for peak, then fedex, then ups finally called me back with the same out of country callers. my packet was so intense having to scratch, sorting and working through breaks, running to every stop. it was crazy. I had dreams about delivering packages every night, waking up panicking because I thought I forgot to scan something or delivered a package to the wrong address. I'm still low seniority but after just a year there are people below me I can bump off the routes. There are good days and bad but the benefits are worth it. I can put my family through college we get free medical. dental, legal and top pay in 4 years plus overtime we can easily make 150k per year which is triple what I made at my last job I was at for 6 years. eventually I want to start my own business and ups can make that a reality for me while taking care of me along the way. I love seeing my sisters of color doing good keep doing yo thang girl 💜
