"Form a deeper bond" uh thats not how that works? They were twins and close. A sibling a decade younger than them isn't likely to have as close a bond as two the same age let alone a stronger one. And even if they have a very strong bond some day its still not a replacement for a lost sibling, come on.

God that last story makes me really uncomfortable. I have face blindness too, and some people just don't fucking believe you.
Like, I've genuinely left movies and went cry in the shower because I could not track any of the plot to save my life. All the characters kept changing clothes and hair, and I'm not good enough with voices to keep track of them. If I see someone outside of a scenario I expect to see them in, I'll be completely lost on who they are. I've walked right past my own mother in a parking lot before because I couldn't recognize her after a haircut.
Then you have people who think it's not real and some excuse, and it's just so confusing to me. Why and how do you think I fake this?

    • @zeekay3205
      @zeekay3205 7 месяцев назад +1

I haven't heard the story yet and more likely won't given this comment. I just finished story 1 with the twins and I honestly can't go on.
I do not have prospognosia (sp??) spelling but I wear glasses. Being low income, I've had so many situations when I would have to go extended periods of time without any - everything is a blur.
I constantly have to ask people what is in front of me, let alone seeing down the street, to read etc. Squinting doesn't even help and gives away to those around me I have issues seeing - I don't want to be a sitting duck 🦆 of a target 🎯.
If people waved at me, discomfort/fear would overtake me. I can hear them and make out blurred colors etc but I can't make out their face at all until they are really really close which they may never be if they aren't passing by so near and on their way to else where.
To wave and smile at people I didnt know and to fake knowing them while racking my brain if I am talking to a serial killer was stressful. All these agent 007 tactics just to get by. To seem friendly but not say anything of real substance in case they were a stranger or someone else. It is just so stressful.
I think I may have heard the story before - something about the bf not believing her and running tests/pranks. I can imagine that's only funny if they happen by genuine mistakes as stories that can make light of the situation - gets you to laugh instead of cry, put life into perspective and relax - and retold sparingly at that.
Directly undermining, testing etc seems innocuous but honestly sounds like a harbinger for abuse. I can't imagine playing with people's vulnerabilities like that. I would honestly make it a point to be identifiable and always announce who I am along with a code word system that changed depending on the day of the week, time of day or something like that. We have security questions for emails and banks - your partner reminding you of a funny anecdote or inside joke or love language connected to whatever to verify, "Hey it's me." Is so little. I would even go as far as to tell them who people we pass by are, or low key signal for my partner to know, "Hey, is that you Kelly from Key Foods? Thanks for giving me that discount last time - what's up?" So my partner would know.
Things seem hard or unbelievable when you don't respect, love and communicate with your partner. #1 Respect and #2 Be fuckin responsible and the other shit show fuckery won't happen. because you would be more Cognizant that you have to claim and answer for you behavior later.
I am so sorry you felt that way at the movies and with your mom. My know glasses, bad at hearing, mental instability to the point I can't read, write or follow plots at times and horrible memory feels your pain.
I get the feeling he is an asshole I won't even want to subject my self to being narrated about.
      ❤😊🎉

The first story is a great example of why some people don’t deserve kids.
The story of the sister sleeping with OP’s boyfriend. That is just tragic. The family should have gotten her help a long time ago. She is also jealous of her sister that’s why she did what she did. When people are angry they reveal their truths.
As for the OP with face blindness. She did the right thing. I wonder if her ex had bad break ups in the past is because he allows his own insecurities with his exes destroy his relationship and he can’t stand being held accountable for that. That’s why he has bad break up cause the girls would most likely tell him his shortcomings and he can’t swallow that pill!

6:29 - I’m sorry but what is with parents expecting their children to just accept an affair? That’s usually not how life works. Her father cheated on her mother and left her for the affair partner. Why on earth do these type of people think children are selfish for not falling head over heels for the ones who destroyed their family.
These two adults are even nastier than most cases. She was the cause of a child’s death! Not to mention the fact that she pretends that the child did not exist in the first place. She should count her freaking lucky stars that she hadn’t been arrested for vehicle manslaughter because quite frankly, she missed a Stop sign because she was too busy yelling at two children that is in her care for “waking her up from a nap”.
Oh, don’t worry, I hadn’t forgotten about Daddy Dearest. The stepmother is a vile human being… but the father is a true monster. Not only did he cheat on his wife and blew up his family for her, he actually stayed *with* her after she had been responsible for his child’s death.
This monster… should not be called a father. There are animals… freaking *animals* that treat their children better than he does/did. Any reasonable parent would *not* stay with someone who killed their kid.
With the way he handled the situation of his child dying and his surviving child, I actually believe he does not love either child. He absolutely showed his true colors when he stayed by that woman.
Now my next question to ask is this: If he despised his twins so much… why even bother taking them in? Yes, they were in school, had friends, etc. But he obviously don’t give a d*mn about them… he should have sent them to live with their mother and relinquished all parental rights.
I truly truly despise parents that keep children they know darn well that they don’t want, can’t truly provide for, etc.
If you hate your child that much,.. then do them and yourselves a favor… give them to someone who wants and loves them. It’s obvious you don’t care so why keep them? It always feels that they want to control someone and if that’s the case, I suggest getting a plant. No, not a pet because just like children they have emotions. Just get yourself a plant to destroy. They may feel pain depending on the species (recent study came out that suggests plants are also be sentient. But only some) but at least you are least likely to destroy a being with actual feelings.
Edit to Add: That’s what my mom said to me randomly one day. When I was in my early 20s I moved in with her (despite not wanting to and wanting to return to live with my dad), I had one rule, that my siblings don’t go in my room unless they asked. This rule was created due to the fact that they had went into my room, got my kitten, and put her in another room with cat food that had ants in it. I seem to recall many ants being on her.
Well, the day when my mom exploded on me, my younger sibling had went into my room without permission. I chased him through out the house, tackled him, and began to tickle him relentlessly while asking him who gave him permission to be in my room?
My mom… snapped. She began to yell at me and say that I am ruining her life, that I was an awful daughter, and that I should hurry the eff up and get out of her house.
    1. It wasn’t her house but her second husband’s
    2. I did not ask to live with her, she offered for me to move in when no one else wanted to pay for me to return home. (I had no income and my parents had agreed that one would get my ticket to go to my mom’s and one was supposed to get my return ticket. Both shirked that responsibility after a few trips)
    3. I was not the cause of all of her problems. I knew that even then. All of her problems came from her first marriage, her alcoholism, not treating me like an adult, etc. and I sure as hell didn’t ask to be born. Not to mention, she is partially responsible for many of the problems I have to this day. (That rant was about her as well. She didn’t want me for any good reason outside of wanting someone who would worship her no matter what. *Her* words.
She kicked me out despite the pleas of my sibling who admitted it was him who broke my only rule. She did not care.
I was kicked out. I had no money (I would give her some of it for rent and the rest went to buying things)
I know you wonder what her second husband said about me being kicked out? Well… he didn’t know that was what happened. My mom told him half the truth. She said I left of my own accord despite her telling me I could stay with her no matter what.
It wasn’t until a bit later he heard the full story from me *including* the part where I did leave but it was because she threw me out and told me to never return.
My mother said a lot of what OP’s father said to her.
Again: parents if you don’t want your child(ren) just give them to people who will.
Edit to Add 2: I SAID IT BEFORE AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN… THAT MAN IS A MONSTER.

    the story about faceblindness
i have autism, and that's usually comorbid with face blindness, and I think I mildly have it. not as bad as some people in these comments, but still not fun to have. i think for me its at least partially between struggling to make eye contact and struggling to picture things in my mind, but there's got to be more to it. i cant even describe faces that I've seen my whole life, like mine, my brother's, and our parents' just from memory, i dont tend to notice even big changes in appearance (hair colour/cut, other accessories and similar), and i struggle to know if i know someone out of context. I once passed by my therapist of maybe 4 years on a walk and didn't know it was her until our next appointment when she brought it up
i wonder if op has autism or any other neurodivergence. like I'm not going to armchair diagnose them or anything, more just a curiosity with the comorbidity of such conditions

Crazy how this family instead of consoling her for almost killing yourself (I get that selfish in both ways but still )they take away what she likes doing and all of her privacy. That’s gotta be illegal right you can’t just leave the bathroom door open, but someone waits right by the door to stare at you. That’s pretty weird even when you don’t want it to happen.

Don't ask questions you don't want the answers to. Oh boo hoo, the kids from the family YOU destroyed hate you because you caused an accident by crashing because you don't know what a stop sign is. That must be real hard for you.

She mentions that her father is wealthy he probably had very good lawyers explain away a lot of the consequences. She had a fine and she's on probation. If you add this probably being the first offense it explains why she got such a light sentence. Especially saying as she was the driver in the accident with the kids if she played the whole I'm so heartbroken that I lost my daughter card. It may have worked on a sympathetic judge

    • @nehcrum
      @nehcrum 7 месяцев назад +1

Not really? Blowing a stop sign, or rather a red light, usually only gives you a fine or maybe suspends your driver license.
And as the dead ones were considered her loss, rather than inflicting it on the other party, she isn't really viable for vehicular manslaughter, as she killed "her own" rather than someone else. IE, her suffered loss is considered part of her punishment, that she has to live with the guilt of having killed her own step-daughter.
Which of course only really works for people who are decent and who loves their family, but that's not really something the legal system takes into consideration.

I don't think I would cut off a family member for doing something while in the grip of mental illness if they had not been diagnosed or treated. I might cut them off if they refused treatment, but only for my own safety and well being. If they sought treatment and got better, I'd likely give them another chance because many mental illness don't allow the person to rationalize properly which includes evaluating right and wrong and whether to seek treatment. It doesn't help that there is such a stigma which makes it scary to admit you might need mental health treatment.
Anyway Ops choice to not cut off her sister doesn't stop what she did from severly hurting her. I really feel for her. The situation sucks all around.
Jake sucks the worst though. He betrayed OP and took advantage of her severely mentally ill sister. Op was right to show him the door. What a scumbag!

The problem is that this isn't new Behavior. She has ruined past relationships according to him. This is taking it 10 steps farther than she could have gone with previous relationships. She was a literal threat to his girlfriend's life. The responsible thing to do is either never bring his daughter there again. Or break up to keep her safe from his daughter if he wants to keep his visits with his daughter which is the more likely thing he should have done. What he wanted was to have his cake and eat it too which he could not do. He tried but it's not possible.

The facial blindness story is complicated. I am not trying to say to forgive the boyfriend, but he likely does not understand the severity of the problem. The late neurologist Oliver Sachs had this condition. He explained it in the most eloquent way which made me realize how terrifying this condition actually is. Try to assign a name to a leaf of a tree. Now try to identify that leaf every time you see it. That is how difficult living with this disorder is. But most people could not wrap their heads around it.

it's funny that children can choose their sexuality but not who will take care of them for the opposite reason, with the sexuality being that they have the right to choose, but when it comes to who takes custody of them, they are still too immature and cannot decide on their own. The environment in which the child grows up in is just as important as their identity, and if money is the issue, then did they think low income families are non-existent? For poor teenage mothers, why isn't the child's custody given to the father when her situation is worse than a working woman? Plus there's the child support if the mom really cannot raise the kids herself.

    • @nehcrum
      @nehcrum 7 месяцев назад

Low income families aren't non-existent, they are just not important as they don't have the financial means to affect the political system. Unless they are represented by a powerful lobbying group. Which goes on to explain the thing about choosing their sexuality and gender etc.
Lots of money and political power that are pushing for what they consider important.

That's only possible if she could even fight for that. Given the fact that the mom doesn't live in that country anymore. And that the father has more money to drag out the fight and make her waste her money. And the most important fact he doesn't give a flying f*** about his kids once he just wants to hurt his ex. The fact that they begged him right after the funeral and he still said no and threatened legal action if she didn't leave quote his family alone. He never loved his damn kids. His wife may be a monster but he is as well. He simply a different breed of bastard that's all

The thing is that lawyers cost money.
People seem to assume things like lawyers, therapists etc are just free services. Except they aren't. And not everyone has a lot of disposable income.
