I just finished a restoration on my RHD '63 TR4 Surrey Top and it turned out better than I hoped. I was at this same point a year ago and a lot of work was done to put it back. Such a beautiful car. I didn't think I would ever be done with all of the labeled baggies full of parts, but I just emptied the last bag. Good Feeling. Can't wait to watch this one come back together.
That sounds like a great car and restoration and getting down to the last bag must have felt good! Thanks for the kind comments and for watching the vids, do feel free to subscribe!
Thanks, Jonny, for the help and support as always, I'm delighted you subscribed (I've also only recently started subscribing to channels, actually quite nice as I find my own feed is a bit more tuned).
Great video fella, you look like a seasoned RUclips pro. Car is looking pretty solid so far. When you going to get it on the ramp so we can see some screwdriver prodding? Ref the loom - do it. There's small scale specialists in the UK who could knock you an OE+ one up no probs. Seems like this is getting into the realms of a full resto now... eek!
Cheers Jamie, that's two votes for the loom replacement and I agree would be quite nice to get a good one made (next question is whether one keeps the old type fuses, or go PDM (and the benefits that brings) and have a cleaner engine bay for presentation too...). Ramp soon for body off!
Very nice installment, Toby. Your camera work is first-rate, as is your content. Looking forward to some "re-engineering"! Isn't it amazing how much space a dismantled car takes up? For a body-off restoration, one stall for the body, one for the frame, and nearly another for everything else. Ed
Good video mate! I think you should be pleased with what you've found. All the inner and outer panels are decent, especially in the usual rust traps - top of the inner and outer rear guards, bottom of the inner and outer front guards. Regards Geoff D
Thanks, Geoff, yes it seems pretty good, rust seems focused in the battery tray area and the drivers floor, the panels and rest of it seems solid (he says...)
Love the video..wish I had the space to lay the car out 😉 A couple of things…did you know that you have a TR250/TR5 grill? They are pretty rare. I’m wondering if the Bonnet might also be from a 250/5? You should be able to tell on the underside of there are some little cutouts in the framework that are offset from the center of the bonnet…these would be for clearance of the badge pins and for ease of fixing the badge to the bonnet. Curious how it got a late TR6 bumper on it….car looks to be in pretty good shape for a 58 year old. Have fun with it!
Well I only have the space because I don't have any customers yet :). The grill is a great spot, Tush, I had no idea! Alas I just checked and think the bonnet is TR4A, which is also in worse shape than I thought on the underside (wish I hadn't looked now :) ), might need a replacement. Car's in pretty good shape, has got some crinkled bits on the front left, but all original panels it seems. I'm betting when that got fixed the later grille, blue paint and bonnet stripe all happened, to hot-rod it up to a TR250 in looks at least. Fascinating to unpeel it all. Body off next, Tush, which I'm a little nervous about. Thanks as always!
Thanks, Rodney, yeah the car seems to have had a few 'styling tweaks' in period, with the overriders/bumpers, the TR5 grille, TR5 stripe etc, quite fun.

Great video and looking forward to watching the project moving
Thanks, Peter, much appreciated! New video coming soon!
What a shame such a beautiful car built to rust away . Hope you’re able to bring several back to life .
Thanks, yeah we will save as many as we can!
I finally bit the bullet and signed up with RUclips just so I could follow this channel !

Solid little car . Yes definitely change wiring harness. Looking forward to following along .
Thanks, George, ok wiring harness will be kindly retired, I think you're right.

Thanks, Ed! Yeah I recall seeing your stacking idea, and even though I've more floor space I might have to do the same at some point :)

On your front bumper I noticed someone has put TR six over riders on. I’m talking about your TR four.

That’s a tr5 or 250 grill
Great spot, it is indeed and put away for safe keeping :) Thanks, Cory
