    Functional Deepwater Cryo Therapy Freezer: If you just add a half pound of salt for every gallon of water you reduce the freezing point to 26 degrees Fahrenheit and you could still use it as a freezer & store vacuum sealed items without the risk of freezer burn for additional long-terms freezer liquid storage capacity

    A few caveats would be good. Like unplug it before you get in to reduce accidentally killing yourself from electrical shock. Also seal the edges of your freezer to stop leakages and also reduce the chance of accidentally dying. Then consider treating and filtering the water somehow. Apart from that thermogenesis us awesome.

      I looked up a 15 cubic foot one and it would be about $50 per year to run it. I would assume that would be inside in a 70 degree environment, so if it's outside and really hot out, it could be more to run.

    • @bradleykearns1965
      @bradleykearns1965 4 года назад +1

      it only runs for a couple few hours every 24 hr period so the cost is minimal. The sticker on the side when you get the new unit says something like $67/year but that's running a freezer all the time. Mine's on timer for 2-4 hours per day based on outdoor weather during the year.

    Love your book The Keto Reset, I find it is the only one you need to understand Keto and diet.
    Your WARNING: "ALWAYS UNPLUG CHEST FREEZER BEFORE ENTERING (EVEN WITH GFI)" although good advice, is not going to save you from electrocuting yourself if there is an electrical issue which is common with home wiring and not un-common with tools - in your case an appliance. (Which you have now greatly increased the odds of having an electrical issue by putting water in an untested container connected to power).
    Electrical Code requirements for kitchens and bathrooms are based on the human potential of becoming part of the circuit between water and an electrical source. In the case of a Chest Freezer filled with water (which is a vessel not tested or rated for holding water), your potential for becoming part of that circuit by just touching the chassis (metal outside of the freezer) or the water while plugged in is a real possibility.
    As a contractor best practice for using a UL-listed, safe power tool (human-tool contact) is to use in-line GFCI protection (a GFCI that plugs into an outlet) Which is safer than using a home GFCI outlet that may or may not be wired correctly and that has no UL requirement to protect from an open-neutral which the corded in-line GFCI does.
    But using an in-line GFCI is not enough. A GFCI will still power your appliance in the presence of a Hot/Neutral reverse (reverse polarity), which we find in homes old and new all the time but the GFCI WILL NO LONGER PROTECT YOU. So you need to use a simple outlet tester to ensure that outlet tests as "Wired Correctly".
    Yes, certain conditions do not matter to a GFCI like Open Ground, but if you're not an electrician best practice would be to only plug into something that tests "Wired Correctly".
    Is your ice bath now safe if it is powered by a properly wired GFCI protected circuit? Probably/Potentially but personally I would not touch the freezer period while it's plugged in and running. Just like I would never use my Ul listed tools outside in the rain even if connected to a properly wired GFCI protected circuit. Because the potential for disaster is real and unnecessary.

      can you clarify please? I don't understand your lengthy and informative post. His warning reads to "ALWAYS UNPLUG" meaning stop gap, completely disconnect from the power grid. But you are saying that is not going to save you from getting electrocuted? how? I dont believe Deep chest freezers have capacitors. and any electricity left in the system would be negligible.

      Hi Jake, its 15 cu ft freezer from Home Depot . Frigidaire. Yeah when the water gets too cloudy there is a drain on the wall and you have to affix a hose to send the water to desired spot. More hassle if your tub is in garage but outdoors it's no problem. Then refill and turn on the freezer to get water back to desired temp in a couple days. I use an aquarium pump to try and filter the water a bit but it does get cloudy over time
