  • Cold exposure is a critical component of XPT. From stimulating long-term cold adaptations to maximizing short-term recovery, along with many other benefits in between, the ice bath is a staple of the XPT Life. We get asked all the time, how can I build an ice bath set up like I see used by the XPT crew, in my own home?
In this video, XPT Director of Performance PJ Nestler walks you through an easy, cost and energy efficient home setup. It’s a very simple solution that doesn’t require you to buy any ice at all.

I asked the sales rep at Home Depot about buying a freezer big enough to accommodate just a single person.... it didn't go well!

Great tips! Never thought I’d see the day of considering buying a freezer for my ice baths, but here I am! I hear it’s a common way to do ice baths at home. Fab video, thank you 🙏❄️🧊

This was great thanks! I like the idea of adding salt, it will reduce the freezing temperature and allow you to make the bath colder.

    Thanks so much !!
I don’t have a garage or a yard. Small patio and starting to welcome curiosity as to how I can make this work for patio or a spare bedroom.
Wondering if I can get creative enough to make it decorative and aesthetic pleasing inside my small home or on patio.
I live in Phoenix Az so the temps are very hot especially Summer so I need to consider electricity and maintenance as well. I’d love to make this work for me.
I’d love to throw a ice plunge party with fire , shamanic, Wim hof breath works meditation. What a cool party !

Nice video. For me, safety...Unplug for sure (water and electricity is not a good mix), and then having somebody partner up to make sure you can get out in case something goes awry. Just my thoughts. Great ideas/tips on this video.

Silicone is NOT the way to go. It won't last long. I just scraped the silicone off my 1st cold plunge tub after 2 months and it was hardened and brittle. I ended up using a 2 part pond liner epoxy- Pond Shield

I was wondering if you add anything to your water ie Food grade hydrogen-peroxide as water treatment? My water stated to stink after about 10 days. I'm the only one who gets in once a day

People be like: i wanna keep my ice bath clean..
me: jumps in the garden rain barrel xDDDD
its propably full of organic shit like mosqito larvae and other microorganisms and algae.. but its cold and i like it xD
i mean the whole point of ice bath for me is to strengthen health and immune system so idc if i get some microorganisms
we have a natural layer of microorganisms on the skin and they are actually part of the immune system, they take care of pathogenic microorganisms that
land on the skin and its like a naturally evolving ecosystem on your skin... much like plants and animals etc. create a biosphere on the earth,
you have a natural biosphere on your skin... and most microorganisms are actually good... i think like 90% or more of all bakteria are actually not harmful to
our body.. and we do rely on them not only on the skin but also in our digestive system so.. i really do not worry about the microorganisms in the rain barrel,
some of them might be bad but will be eliminated by my immune system and most of them will be neutral, some of them will propably actually be good and colonize my skin
biosphere layer with all the other microorganisms on there and become a part of me so... thats my point of view and the reason why i dont mind getting dirty..
beyond that, regular dirt is not bad at all... after all, we came from the dirt, we evolved in the dirt, we are built to handle all kinds of pathogens and so on,
given that we are healthy and strong :) but i do go in for a shower after coming from the rain barrel, i mean i do like the feeling of being clean :D just saying i believe
its overrated and overdone the level of cleanlyness in modern societies ^^

    • @antonioarmando1938

One theory that i personally believe is that the allergies epidemic is due to excessive Hygiene in modern societies. The immune system is not trained properly as a result you get allergies.
Question is - Does ice exposure + dirt cure allergies?
Testing on my case. Remember me in April for the results =)

Speaking of microorganisms I was slapping rejuvelac about my body from head to toe once a day for a couple of weeks a number of month's ago, and have noticed ever since feeling substantially cleaner and only bathe once a week now.
