Josh, love it! You may be interested in a thermometer controller that homebrewing stores sell for chest freezers. A lot of folks will modify a chest freezer to ferment wort at a particular temperature for the yeast. I would imagine that you could do the same for the water if you wanted. It would at least take the guess-work out of when to turn it on/off and how long to leave it on. HWPO!

A great thing you can do is you can connect your freezer with a ~30$ pool filter and it will filter your water so you don't need to waste so much water every 2-3 weeks. You just need to clean or replace your filter every 2-3 weeks. And remember to use a type of filter that is outside of a freezer. You don't want to have a filter in the water because you can get electrocuted.

For people that are not the higgest fan of the cold. Wim Hof, aka the Iceman, has great advice about breathing through the cold.
As mr. Bridges here clearly explains it is about the breathing and keeping yourself calm.
As for the health benefits of cold showering and coldbaths in recent years there has been alot of succesful and positive research about this.
    Great video

Picked a chest freezer and ordered it after checking some models out in our local store. It's gonna arrive in a few days. No more nightly strawls to the lake! At least not as often any more. The lake is getting too warm anyway this time of year. This will also stop my wife from being worried. She didn't like me going out in the wild taking cold dips that often. Can't wait to set it up and use it. Thanks for the tips. Keep breathing people! Love, strength and happiness from Holland!

I have tendinitis above both kneecaps and had a hip flexor acting up on me. Started doing the ice bath about 2 weeks ago. It’s a game changer. Helped stop swelling on my hip flexor and lessened the initial pain of my tendinitis. I can’t afford a deep freezer right now, so I fill my bath tub with cold water and drop 4 cube trays worth of ice in it, then sit in it for 10 minutes. I will definitely try the freezer style when I have the funds:)

Josh, first off thank you for your service! I am retired military and my last deployment overseas I was attached to SPEC OPS and I have never met guys so down to earth and willing to teach us. Whether this was in the field or in the gym! I thought they would want nothing to do with our unit but it was the opposite. If you were willing to learn they would teach.
What is your opinion on cold plunging when you workout out on a daily basis or at least 4-5x a week? Some say cold plunges have a negative effect on muscle growth and strength gains, given you background what have you experienced? Some studies say after a workout its good to let some of those stressors take place so your muscles experience the damage and repair that happens naturally. So with that said, do you think its best if you workout in the afternoon/evening to cold plunge in the morning after your bodies has some what experience the protein synthesis and break down and repair?
Hope to hear back and thanks again for your service and the channel!

I currently work in the food industry. And we use laser temps. Sometimes not all the times. They only measure surface temp at most an inch in to 2. So it's better to use a temp you can stick in. Hope that helps anyone bridging the gap back.

I got mine set up on a wifi thermostat set for 35F and I unplug the unit before going in, of course for safety. Also, I run a ozone generator in the tub prior to going in. The silicone comes off, I wonder if it’s because of the ozone degrading it.

Curious about this setup - you've got this running on a timer AND and inkbird thermostat outlet? curious why both. I would imagine that you'd be fine simply running it on the inkbird. Is the timer to turn it fully off at night to conserve energy? Would love to know a bit more about the double power setup and how you have it configured. thanks brother!

i finally finished mine but it wasn't getting cold after plugging it in for a day. Now i realize it must be due to the thermostat sensor interfering. I didn't see one in your model. For mine, I put JB water weld to the storage clips areas after i cut them from the inside walls, and while i was at it i put weld over the sensor at the interior. Do you know of anyone who follows that needed to disconnect their chest freezer's temperature control thermostat sensor, or would you have any tips on this matter?

Same - I was doing cold showers for months...first time in the freezer at 39F I almost blacked out. I had to dunk one foot/arm at a time, get out, let the nerve burn wear off...do it again...let it wear off...then got to sitting fast and standing up...I had to bring it back up to 50F and do several minute sits before cranking it back down into the 30s. Body eventually adjusts.
