    This was an absolute joy to watch. I don't need to learn another craft because I don't have enough time to do them all (I love quilting, spinning and crochet) but I think you may have convinced me because your scarf is gorgeous.

    I remember I decided to make a bag for my grandads birthday so I started warping and the warp kept snapping so I had to figure something else out to weave
    So at 8 pm i started warping by quarter to 9 I was done warping and by 2 am a small selvedge rug was made
    I made it on my ashford rigid heddle so it was relatively small
    And it was a perfect present to give

    GREAT video! Beautiful job! How did you take finish the ends where you changed color (I saw them hanging loosely.

    • @Curly_n_Yarny
      @Curly_n_Yarny  3 года назад +2

      Thanks!! I always let a bit of weft yarn hanging out when I change colors. I cut it after when finishing. I feel like it helps the yarn full out evenly in the wet finishing process.
      For this project, everytime I wanted to change colors, I split the ply of the weft yarn in two and pull it out a few inches from the warp. I took one ply and I ran it to the selvedge and over it and back in the woven piece to where I let the other piece of ply stuck out. (It's a bit hard to explain in words, I'll try to make a video about it soon) ☺️ It makes the changing of colors almost invisible!

    I saw you used a ladder and a stik to put your wool around. How do you keep the ladder in place? Do you have a film that shows that more closely and showing how you wind the wool up? Another question is it necessary to use the same size wool for the warp as well as the werf? Thank you

    • @Curly_n_Yarny
      @Curly_n_Yarny  2 года назад

      I do have a video in which I explain how I use my step ladder for direct warping 😊 Here's the link ruclips.net/video/33aYJ9Z3Jos/видео.html It's a video that I have made to explain in details what I do when I direct warp my rigid heddle loom.
      For your second question, my answer is yes and no. It really depends on many things like the yarn you wish to use, the size of your heddle and the pattern you wish to make. So in general, no, your warp and weft yarn don't have to be the same size. In the project of this video, I wanted to have a plaid effect and I decided to used the same yarn for the warp and weft to help achieve my desired pattern. I hope this helps 😄

    How much wool is used in
    one scarf.

    • @Curly_n_Yarny
      @Curly_n_Yarny  Год назад +1

      For this scarf, in total, I used one whole ball of grey and a little bit of a second ball. I also used one whole ball of golden yellow and a little bit of a second ball. I used just a little bit of the pink yarn, so one ball was enough. I hope this helps!

    where I can buy that waving machine?

    • @Curly_n_Yarny
      @Curly_n_Yarny  Год назад

      There are different brands and different shops where you can buy such Rigid Heddle looms. It's worth doing a little bit of research depending on where you are in the world. Mine is a 32" (80cm) rigid heddle loom from Ashford.

    When warping do you tie off each color before starting the new color?

    • @Curly_n_Yarny
      @Curly_n_Yarny  3 года назад

      I do this most of the time! The only times that I don't tie off a color is when I plan on doing only 1 loop of another color. In other words, I don't cut the first color and I warp my loop of the second color. Then, I just keep on warping with the first color. I hope this helps you 😊

    • @Curly_n_Yarny

      Sure you can 😊 You can make a scarf up to 16" large if you warp the whole width of your loom.

      I just finished a scarf on my new 10 inch Kromski Presto. I didn't use the entire width. It turned out terrific. It's only about 8 inches wide. I thought it was the perfect width for wrapping around the neck.

    • @Curly_n_Yarny
      @Curly_n_Yarny  3 года назад +1

      Hi! For both the grey and the yellow, I used one whole ball and a little bit of a second one. For the pink, I only used one ball (and there was still lot of it left at the end) 😊
