Weaving a Gorgeous Overshot Scarf on a 4-shaft Leclerc Loom (An Overshot Series: Part 3)
This is the last video of the series in which I'm weaving overshot scarves on my 4-shaft Mecco Loom. This second scarf is woven with a beautiful gradient yarn that gives a stunning look to the piece. Overshot is such a fun technique that allows the weaver to create intricate handwoven pieces.

Hello! Indie dyer here! I use textile detergent from Dharma Trading which is formulated to bind to unset dye particles and suspend them in the water until it's drained. With fiber reactive (cotton/cellulose) dyes there are some dyes that bleed worse, these are primary reds or Fuschia and Turquoise and therefore many shades of reds, purples and blues can bleed excessively so anything I make with these colors get washed in the same detergent 3 times if I am keeping it and 2 times if it is going to another person.

At 22:23 in the video does it matter that you’re pulling the threads to the side while winding them on rather than holding them straight out in front? I notice the threads farthest from you are longer because of this and wondered if that could possibly affect the tension.

I just got my first rigid heddle loom. I’m enjoying your video and the different approach to warping. I am researching to educate myself before my first attempt at a project. When you’re drawing the thread over the apron bar it looks like you’re alternating over and under every other time. Is that correct or am I just confused? 😊

    • @Curly_n_Yarny

Beautiful work that you have done to revitalize this lovely loom! I agree with the comments about hand position on the beater (lefty here). Also consider making sure that your fabric canvas is square. It can easy be tied in slightly off balance, as can warp tie on being slightly off (you may have slightly difference tie on tension between left and right sides). Sometimes it’s not the loom, but what we are doing to the loom.

It does shake a little bit, especially on my Mecco loom, but it doesn'y bother my weaving.
