I remember this theme park and went with my family and I remember riding the train and the train stopped and these cowboys were robbing the train. It was so neat to see the shootouts. It's great to see this place bring back a piece of history. I will have to come check it out. Thanks for sharing!

Oh wow. This is so great. Thank you so much for posting this. I had no idea this went on. Born and raised in Florida from 1964. Six Gun Territory was the first theme park I ever went to. I remember my Dad had bought me a cap gun with a western holster. And I put it on and wore it around the park. Then I rode a ride that spins and went up 90 degrees and my cap gun slid out of my holster. You could it hitting the metal of the ride as it fell. I was so upset, crying. I think I was like 4 or 5. We looked for the gun, but never found it. I can’t remember if my Dad bought me another one, but I sure remember how upset I was. And oh how well I remember that ride! I don’t think they have the ride any, ore. The floor would fall down as you were spinning, and the force would keep you pushed to the wall. I think they discontinued them as it’s been years since I’ve seen one. Any way, I’ve forwarded this video to my kids, that maybe they will take my grandkids one day to this Six Gun Territory Reunion. And hats off to the Kirby family for keeping their ranch, and not selling out to developers. My cousins sold the last of their old family ranch in St Cloud in 2021. Their great grandfather had started it back in the mid 1800’s. I sure hope more people hear about this Six Gun Territory Reunion, so it will support the Kirby Ranch and also keep the memory of it going strong. Thank you again.

Both the Six Gun locomotives, as well as a few other former theme park narrow gauge locomotives are in fact at Kirby Family Farm.
6:42 - At the end of the siding is Elizabeth, a steam outline locomotive built for Opryland. When Opryland closed, she sat at Astroworld and later SFOG before coming here. In front of her is one of the original Opryland coaches, followed by one of the Great America coaches (like the ones currently used) originally from California's Great America. #19, the locomotive pulling the train (driven by yours truly) is also from CGA and was converted from steam to diesel when Marriott built both Great America Parks (the other being Six Flags Great America, which still has its trains)
The red and green locomotive with the missing funnel was originally #7 Robert Lee and from Six Gun. She does run, but being pure steam, she does need some work. The other Six Gun locomotive, #4 Sam Houston, has not run in decades and is barely visible in the background at 33:45
Beatrice is also from Opryland and ran at Six Flags America for a number of years. She was converted to diesel while at Opryland.
The Iron Horse locomotive was originally used by a logging company and is built to standard gauge

I lived nearby and went to Six Gun Territory many times when I was a kid. Also did Cypress Gardens (now Legoland), Weeki Watchee, Silver Springs, Gatorland and Busch Gardens. I have two distinct memories from Six Gun. The first is don’t stand near the cowboys when they shoot, it is quite painful to the ears. Back then, the tourists were intermingled with the actors during the shootouts. They would start without warning and you never knew where one would jump out from. The second is there was a house that was built on a slant with optical illusions throughout which made walking through it very interesting.

We went to Six Gun Territory every spring break when school let out. Two ways in the SkyRide or by Train . I remember the train robberies on the way in. Also it would go through the Indian encampment. The bank robberies and gun fights. The undertaker would come out and try to measure the bodies during the gunfight and would run back into the funeral home when he got shot at. Our favorite part was running out when the gun fight was over racing other kids to pick up the blanks as souvenirs. Walking into the old building was like going back in time. The amusement park was so much fun. Bumper cars, Round Up, Tilt-a-Whirl, the huge slide. Merry- go- round the video arcade and the tilted house you walked through. . This was a place our parents could turn us loose and the gun fights we would meet back up with them. Some of my fondest youth memories was there.

I think you mean the "hell hole". They had a ride like that in Wildwood New Jersey. I was born in 1959. I attended Sox Gun Territory when I was about four or five. I remember a setting much closer to that of the old western towns. The shops were on either side of a dirt road. I remember a bank robber and shootout. I also remember riding in an authentic stage coach. I put my hand out the window to touch thw wheel as it turned. I remember my day telling me to bring my hand back inside. I don't remember much else. I did have my cap guns and a western hat with a spiral lace around the brim. I suppose lots of kids were like to hat given all the western tv shows that were on back then.

I went to six gun territory 1975
As a child, it was a real wild west town, the shoot out reenactment with bank and sherif, was like something right out of a movie, and real native Americans performed there cultural dances, place had rides ,
What a cool experience I was able to have there

As a very young child in the early 70's, I somehow manage to wander off on my own at Six Gun Territory. My mother frantically tried to find me. I am part Indian and even looked Indian especially from behind. Well my mother searched everywhere including the Indian Reservation and there she saw an Indian boy from behind that was exactly my size and age at that time. My mother hurriedly over and grab the boy by the arm, never looked at his face and started walking off with him to leave the park believing he was me. She got hollered at then confronted and about that time I reappeared and then she realized the error she had made. I'm not exactly sure if it was true or not but the boy she mistaken me for was the Chief's son.
