    I bought a whole lot of Pokémon games a year or so a go locally. It was $100 and came with a Gameboy Advanced too! The guy didn't let on that they were all damaged and didn't work, but I got them all repaired thanks to learning from Steve! I hope you're feeling alright today. Thanks for all you do

      The worst part is it's not even a good investment. A flash cart will play the game better since it doesn't have any save memory faults like a normal game, is the same price or far cheaper, and can have many other games on it at the same time.
      "Retro gaming" investments are a joke. It's not like the original devs get money, just some huckster on eBay.
      And this doesn't even touch on emulation. Which is always an option, but if you want to use original hardware then at least use a flash cart.

    • @DisguisedPigeonLOL
      @DisguisedPigeonLOL 6 месяцев назад +7

      @@mr.number9279 While I agree emulation is a fantastic option... I'm not sure you understand what an investment is, lol. An investment is something that increases in value over time. And while most video games do not always increase in value, Pokemon games most certainly do (which doesn't make sense because they were the most sold games, so the supply should be very high).

    • @mr.number9279
      @mr.number9279 6 месяцев назад

      @@DisguisedPigeonLOL Pokemon games are a beanie baby lol. They're not "worth a lot", idiots put them up at high prices and they don't sell. People just go to repros or piracy, since it's not like it matters.
      Also that isn't the only definition of investment

    • @DisguisedPigeonLOL
      @DisguisedPigeonLOL 6 месяцев назад +6

      @@mr.number9279You have no idea what you're talking about. Pokemon games are nothing like beanie babies. It is the largest franchise ever spanning multiple generations and dozens of different markets. Also, that is literally the definition of investment, haha.

    Good lord. Amazing job as always. It's good to see people try to fix things themselves, but they really need to practice first on something that's not important before they attempt to do this kind of stuff if they are novices.

    in regards to the one battery terminal, in the future, stick the wire in the via immediately below where the pad used to be and solder it there, instead of trying to attach something to that thin trace leading to the via. you'll get a much better mechanical connection that way.

    Hey 👋🏻,
    Unfortunately, I find the mere starting of the game does not ensure that it also works properly. I myself had the topic with a mod from the German Pokémon Crystal version to the Japanese PCB (it just looks cooler). Something probably went wrong here with the soldering of the ROM. I was able to play and save the game. But something must have gone wrong when saving. Because when loading the savegame, you could already see hieroglyphs and the savegame could not be loaded. So the ROM-Chip down again and back on it and then everything went and I was very happy. Maybe also test this after such work? Lovely, mofde

    Good job. Little advice you need to work on your solder skills better. Also get some micro drills to clean out the holes. You also can replate the contact pins with gold to make them new again. Your tweezers don’t seem to grab very well at times, so get yourself some top line tweezers they are worth paying out on. Sorry I’m not slagging your work off I just think you need some better tools to help you more to improve your skills. Get yourself some copper trace kit, they will really help you as well. Anyway good job glad you got it working. Ultrasonic cleaner is a good tool too and remasking kit too.
