A few kind people have asked about buying a toad. If you're keen let me know and I'll reply to your comment if I do a thing. I'll also post about it on my insta: instagram.com/miscastterrain
I was thinking you could sculpt your own great unclean one from scratch and sell castings as the next step up? I would definitely want to buy one!!! Love you and all your amazing videos
@@SparkSovereign His lesser cousin who brings the rainy months in a washtub pulled by a knot of toads or an army of frogs. He wears a wet green rain coat and eats sandwhiches you leave him out on the lawn
This is the happiest video I've ever seen. I don't know what a Nurgle is and I don't know who you are, but man watching your happiness just made my night.
I legit had the same thought. Had a pretty hard day and seeing this dude do something he loves and seeing the magic in it reminds me that not everything is bad.
Seeing your happiness when you pull your first cast was such a wholesome experience to witness. I'm so happy for you my dude. You deserve it, you're such an inspiration! Well done :)
Man your opponent will totally CROAK when they see these on the table. I’m planning to do the same thing, I’ve been following along with your nurgle army to make mine for 40k
Man, your videos never fail to make me feel feelings. You truly are the Bob Ross of kitbashing. I love how wholesome it was when you popped the first toad out, and we could see how proud you were, and the jumpcut to like 12 of them scattered on the table is excellent comedic timing.
Well done mate! You deserve to be proud of those toads, and there really is nothing quite as satisfying as a successful mold and cast, even more so when its your own sculpt too.
The toadmother has multiplied and they are... amazing. Hope it's not too much trouble keeping up with all these toadlings. I hear they like to hop around a whole lot. Keep up the great work. Really great to see how well they turned out and how thrilled you were with the final result.
This series makes my heart palpitate with happiness. Circuses had trains and wagons! I saw you sketching a wagon, don't forget the trains and the crazy characters that hung out with the real circuses!
G, it made me so happy looking at your satisfaction face when the frog is out of the mold, it also is encouraging for me, I have had mold making thing and resin sitting at my shelf for a minute now and i was afraid that without a vacumchaimber the result will suck
Dude, nice! Once you popped the first toad out of the mold your smile says it all. And when I finally saw a bunch of them based and clustered together in formation it brought a smile to my face as well. Time for me to tackle this project! Well done. :)
If you spray some mold release in there before each cast it'll protect the walls of the mold from the exothermic reaction of the resin and increase it's working life, granting more pulls from the same mold. It's not much but might help in long term. Especially for bigger molds. Resin can get really, really hot.
very inspiring, i wasn't aware that this side of the mini collecting/painting existed, i was looking to get into collecting 40k mini's, it's the setting i am most interested in, and seeing this kind of creativity is awe inspiring on a more... personal level. thank you for showing us your process and creative thinking.
Tip for getting bubbles out of casting resin without getting an actual vacuum chamber or one of those rattle tables: simply get a large flat frame drum or a tambourine or something like that (I'm using one of my brother's old busted snare drums), put the mould with the fresh resin on the drumhead and very carefully play a slow beat about until you notice the resin starting to harden without touching the mould obviously. The vibration will reliably loosen the bubbles without any chance of accidentally malforming or ripping the mould. As someone who always gets bubbles in my casts it's worked pretty much perfectly for me every time so far.
I really love how creative this project is becoming. All the figures from the last video, the toad and copies altered to be unique is blowing my freaking mind! Thanks for sharing with us!
Awesome job. You look suitably chuffed with them and so you should be. RE: Mould not curing... uncured superglue is likely the issue. Try using hot glue to stick the cups down in future. That's what we use to secure and seal mould boxes. Saves on clay too.
It's hard to beat the sense of satisfaction that comes from sculpting, molding, and casting your own dudes. I know I've definitely done exactly what you did.. Made one, smiled like an idiot, then quickly started casting more so I could look at all my handsome plastic boys.
Just a tip about casting with 2 part resin. Get a toothpick and probe the crevices, it pops bubbles. If you want more accurate pours get a small gram scale. Edit: buy baby powder or mold release powder, it really helps.
The best way to get the bubbles out is to secure something that vibrates to the table. Could be an orbital sander upside down, could be one of those cheap desk fans with one fin broken off of the fan, could be one of those big magic wand "back massagers." Just make sure whatever it is is clamped down so it vibrates the whole table top.
I'm so happy for you, this project is awesome and it's so good to have seen you go through it ! Thta smile on your face at the end is the stuff good days are made of. Keep being awesome, Miscast dude !
It's so interesting to watch this now, two years later, when only four months ago you made a video about recasting Warha- I MEAN other models. Knowing that your excitement has continued makes me very happy. Also, day two of asking you to bRING BACK THE GARBO TOAD I WANT ONE-
your reaction and utter surprise to that first toad cast working out... that might just be the cutest thing in crafting history... which is odd... gven the fact its for one of the grosest armies in crafting history... Good job... :)
Although not as effective as a degassing chamber you can use a paint pot to shrink the bubbles down smaller. It's an easy setup and if you already have an airbrush the compressor will be suitable for pressurizing the pot if it goes to at least 2-3 bar, if your air compressor can go that high. The higher the pressure the smaller the bubbles. As a bonus it helps with shrinking resin bubbles too, if you can find a resin slow enough to pour and pressurize. I don't know how much they'll run you but on amazon they look to be around 200 AUD.
Well done mate 👍 great effort. You’re happiness was infectious, I could t help but smile. They look good and I love all of the additions you added to them. I’ve really enjoyed watching you create this nurgle army. Keep up the good work
Found your channel from Jazza's after your bash bash. This video just gets me. Not only do I want to start doing resin casting, and it makes me feel like that's something I can do without a pressure pot to start, but i just did a video of like the first thing I've sculpted in like 25 years, and it's a warty little froggy kobold dude. I know this video is a bit older, but i still wanted to tell you how much it inspired me!!
Great vídeo mate. I love you enthusiasm, it's outright infectious and inspires me to get back into casting my own models. Please keep producing these great videos.
That toad looks amazing! It already looks like a legit product and it's not even in its future Miscast branded packaging. Also official Miscast branded apron when?
Hahah! Thank you. Maybe I'll make a limited few available on my website in the future, making packaging sounds fun! I've thought about a branded apron honestly, I've had soo many comments and emails asking where to get it, maybe one day!
You said a few had bubbles, but were any of them...miscast? :P This has been lovely to follow, and your excitement seeing it emerge from the mold was heartwarming. Cheers!
Very inspirational! I remember when I managed to get a somewhat decent copy of my little owlbear hatching. Excellent stuff. I am going to be working on some tiles that I plan on duplicating like this soon.
Well that's it...this was the final push or kick I needed to give this a go myself. Thank you for the inspiration, I hope your plague toads bring you many victories in the name of Nurgle and much happiness (not a sentence I expected to be writing today,). Thanks again for the jolt of creativity, keep up the fantastic work.
I had an idea for a kamakazi-ork It moves 10 inches It has 1 attack whick is explode If it uses its attack there's no save roll You need to get a 4 or higher If it 3 or under then it's a miss You need an explosion marker to see who it kils It does 3 damage
