  • How do you know you need to strengthen your head voice (falsetto in men)?
    1. High notes are difficult.
    2. Loss of flexibility
    3. Low stamina
    Why does this happen?
    1. Vocal fatigue
    2. Singing “too heavy” for too long
    3. Tongue tension issues
    Excercises to fix it
    1. Cuperto exercise: octave leaps then when more advanced, 2 octaves
    2. Lip/Tongue trills starting in passagio and moving down and up (just through passagio)
    5-4-3-2-1 (quality check)
    3. Staccati “eeee” lightly beginning in lower passagio and moving up (finger under chin to check for tongue engagement)
    4. Grand scale on “zeeee” check tongue position. If it starts to push down, recalibrate and repeat.
