NEW Lexus NX 350h 2022 UK review: is this the best value premium SUV?

  • The all-new NX is hybrid-only and packs a hefty amount of safety kit included as standard. Here's why the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLC should be worried.
Let's start off with the hybrid side of things. The NX 350h packs the same 2.5-litre petrol engine as the more expensive 450h+, though the 350 is a 'self-charging' hybrid. That means the battery is topped up on the go, but you'd don't get the same 45-mile EV range that's offered on the plug-in hybrid 450h+. Still, it's enough to offer up a claimed 47mpg and give you short bursts of electric performance. Couple that with a starting figure south of £40,000 and a bunch of semi-autonomous driver tech included as standard and the NX 350h sets itself up as a serious rival to the German establishment.

American here. I had a 2016 NX I drove off the showroom floor and I loved it so much i was waiting to get another one. It had high miles on it because I drove it a lot for a previous job. I NEVER had an issue with that car, it was fun to drive and very reliable and here in the states you can take it to Toyota for service once the factory warranty expires and pay half the price of Lexus service. I decided to get the RX since I am not driving as much as before but the NX is a great car, you won't be disappointed.

Yes. GLC looks more luxurious on the inside, and that was the reason I got a 2020 model. Just a few months later. I regreted my decision like never before. The engine sound reminds me of a 1972 Nissan pick up, the number of times I have been to dealership for problems has been more than the number I have been to dealerships for service in my entire life (over 20 years of driving ), cabin is not quiet to make you feel you're driving a luxury car, the infotainment system can't recognize prompts well, I can go on for hours.....please stop this German car technology hype.

I’ve had an X3 and a GLC. Two words about them: Never again. The X3 was great in one respect. I got to drive numerous different model BMW loaner cars when my X3 was in the shop. The GLC may have a more luxurious looking interior, but the creaking and squeaking will drive you bonkers. And touching the surfaces confirms that it’s just a cheap suit on the inside.

@@ediraihan4584 The new NX350 f sport (non hybrid) is definitely on my short list. I got to test one recently. It was really nice. It doesn’t have adjustable side bolsters, which I thought was odd. I’m pretty fit, and the seat still felt a little snug. That wouldn’t deter me from buying it though. It was a really nice place to be otherwise. It might be lacking a bit of the fun factor of the X3, but I’m just not interested in unreliable cars anymore. The trade-off isn’t worth it. That stuff didn’t matter back when I modified my cars.

This model DOES- NOT have a TURBO...But rather, a Naturally aspirated / Carb...........(important because it is well known that TURBOS stress engines)...simply said: see euro cars shop time!....this car combines the Elec Batt and engine to achieve *89 miles per Gallon in Hybred mode with HIGH torq, And VERY quick out of the hole...Jus' blew the doors off a 735i beemer...albeit for only a block ...( I am no dummy a V* will eventually pass many cars in the long dist. My car has Red Calipers against Powder coated Gloss spoke Black mags and All red "F" Sport Badges........ A 239hp NX350h with a 189hp gas engine and 3 electric motors will be quicker and feel more powerful than another vehicle with a 239hp gas engine alone for the first few seconds, and the 0-30mph time is more important than the 0-60mph time for driving in town.

Lexus has been known for reliability with an excellent high tech back in 80's til early 20's when others had less fortunate auto technology except for M,B,A. But now with fast development of automotive technology, most auto makers are just about neck to neck when it comes to reliability especially how Hyundai made the break through in to the high end luxury brand. It's all about qualities, appearance, handling, functionalities, performance, durability and personalities, and Genesis has it all with a top notch rating by well known auto critics and consumer reports. I really admire and give two thumps up to Korean auto makers how they are influencing and changing the auto industries today in just 50 short years of history. Incredible and unreal!!!

I just worry about some of these convenience & safety features such as the e-handle. I'd get a Lexus in an instant - for its tech and reliability. Tho, I can't suppress the feeling of certain cheapness that's associated with all the chrome. Why, of why do Asian manufacturers put chrome everywhere? In this case, the C-pillar. With every new model I'm hoping for a more rectangular design, but I get it, ain't gonna happen with Lexus:(
