I like Rob's picks for Lupita (best performance of 2019!) and Awkwafina in the Best Actress category. But, did he say Renee would not make it in? The sound was weird and trippy when he was talking about her. If so, wow! Renee is such a lock for me.
Phoenix should win but I'd love to see Adam Sandler and Antonio Banderas in the "Best Actor" category. Scarlett Johansson never impressed me as an actress. I hope Renee Zellweger or Saoirse Ronan will win. And finally, I adore Laura Dern but Jennifer Lopez impressed me the most in the "Supporting Actress" category. She must be nominated
@@gule55 J.Lo has problems because she is successful as a singer, dancer, businesswoman and actress. Those academics always ignore this type of women. Madonna is not a great actress but she deserved to be nominated for Evita and Dangerous Game. They ignored her because they didn't like her. J.Lo already showed us Oscar worthy performances in Selena (1997), Out of Sight (1998) and An Unfinished Life (2005). No nominations
If there is going to be a completely out of left field director nomination like how Cold War got it last year, it would be Celinne Sciamma (Portrait of a Lady on Fire). Who wasn't even mentioned on Gold Derby.
jcmea13 if they were going to go with someone in that way I feel Almodovar might be the one. They’ve proven in the past they like him, which means there could be a lot more people in the Academy watching it then we think would. But I would love to see the Safdies get in
It really does look like Netflix is going to be punished at these awards and probably just Laura Dern will walk away with anything at all. This is a shame because I think The Irishman and Marriage Story are two of the best movies in recent years. But it's pretty clear that the Academy is still not quite ready to reward their top prize to a Netflix film. I think Once Upon a time in Hollywood is going to be a surprise and may even finally win Tarantino his Best picture Oscar.
Oscars always play “make up.” Cabaret won Director but lost picture- so when Chicago came along in its same spirit, they gave it best picture. Roma lost best picture, but now that a bigger foreign film came along, parasite will win.
Cinematography is the category this year that the Oscars will get very very wrong. The films nominated will not have the best cinematography of the year. Here's what the Top 5 should be, but never will: -1917 - Ad Astra - Monos - Shadow - The Lighthouse With Runner-Ups being: Apollo 11, Honeyland, and Portrait of a Lady on Fire
I feel Scarlett Johansson will be snubbed in both categories. The AMPAS have never liked her. I think Renee, Charlize, Awkwafina, Lupita and Cynthia will get nominated for best actress. And the supporting actress nominees will be Laura Dern, Zhao Shuzhen, Jennifer Lopez, Margot Robbie and Nicole Kidman.
Thomas Cawood I’ve considered this too. Her narrative is a lot like Emily Blunt’s last year. They’ve never been nominated for an Oscar despite being on the scene since the early 2000s. They campaign for both lead actress and supporting actress, landing only in lead at the Globes and getting a double nomination at SAG. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Johansson finishes her story the same way Blunt did.
@@skylindquist3150 I think the clear difference is that Blunt was in a genre film and Scarlett isn't. Horror films tend to struggle at the Oscars. If Us was in the best picture conversation like Get Out was, I think Lupita gets in.
Needs more birds
Yeah, the birds are very annoying and distracting.
I actually thought that it was a cat.
If J-Lo couldn't win the Globe, there is no way she can win the Oscar. Laura Dern has this. Bombshell flopped at the box office.
Oh should we say Bombshell "bombed" at the Box Office. Sorry, had to make a pun out of that. Solid movie, just not good enough for a BP nom.
It's not even out yet in some countries....
JLO is done. She lost the Golden Globes and Critics Choice.
Waiting for you guys oscar reactions
For every nomination Little Women gets, an angel gets its wings

No, he said she'll make it in, but that he would personally take her out.
@@jackmahanes4591 Thanks for the clarification. Like I said, the sound was weird when he was talking about Renee. I appreciate it.

The thing with JLo is if the actors of the AMPAS will see her as a "real" actress to bring her the nomination.

Magnitude Reviews that won’t happen because her film isn’t even in the running for Foreign film, and she hasn’t gotten a single precursor

Parasite is also a much better and more enjoyable film than Roma was imo.

Apollo 11 would never have been qualified, since it’s comprised of archival footage.

There's no way Scarlett is getting snubbed from lead actress. Supporting maybe, but lead is a lock. Erivo and Lupita aren't both getting in.

There is absolutely no chance of Scarlett not getting a lead actress nomination. She's as much of a lock as Renee is at this point.
