You are overestimating The Goldfinch. I have a feeling that it's in the same league with Beautiful Boy and Boy Erased. Also that September release date doesn't help. If I am wrong then good. My gut just tells me that both The Goldfinch and Harriet are the "failures" of the season. (Like Widows and First Man). Being "baity" just isn't enough these days if there are more highly acclaimed movies in the mix.
In terms of Oscar mileage those comparisons were pretty accurate, but First Man and Widows were actually great movies. Widows especially got snubbed hard. But I see what you mean.
Note: we were looking at the combined odds, which weigh the editors and experts opinions unfairly. Looking at the user’s rankings actually gives a better and seemingly more accurate picture of the race: www.goldderby.com/odds/user-odds/oscars-nominations-2020/
My top 10 for Best Picture: 1.- 1917 2.- The Irishman 3.- Once Upon A Time In Hollywood 4.- The Lighthouse 5.- Little Women 6.- A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood 7.- The Goldfinch 8.- Marriage Story 9.- Jojo Rabbit 10.- Ad Astra Anyway we have to watch the movies to be one hundred percent sure if they will be good or not, so it's more reasonable to think about a movie when you have already seen it.
To the noisy and angry Oscar prediction industry/blogosphere, *please stop* imposing premature, overhyped, and often politicized expectations on yet unseen films, setting many of them up for failure upon arrival. *Admit defeat* when faced with having dished out poor predictions.
But The Farewell is an American movie and America has never submit a film to the best foreign language film category. Also, this year it changes to Best International Film
They don't judge the films per se, they judge whether or not they will be Oscar contenders. That is what GoldDerby is, it's a prediction website for award shows.
@@TheOscarExpert Screw wishful thinking, especially when this Oscar prognostication blogosphere/industry is no longer some negligible presence before and during awards season.
Sometimes Clayton Davis is absolutely insane though. I mean, he finally caved on The Farewell, but dear God, he had that movie at like 40 for picture and actress.
@@TheOscarExpert yea that's quite low few months ago, sometimes he just overlooked some movies too much. Well, all predictors only predict tho 😂 some of the opinions might be very strong (viewed by some people also) and some might be ridiculous.
Very boring oscar race this year. Its August and Once Upon a time in Hollywood is the only movie that's been good this year. Nothing this fall looks promising at all.
The amount of hype for Goldfinch and lack of hype for Joker and Parasite is hilarious
lmfao Parasite really came out of nowhere huh

Could very well be the case. But I have dismissed films in the past for being baity and have later been proven wrong.
You turned out to be right
Hahaha I loved your guys' reactions to the sup. actress category!! Such a mood
omg and the sup. actor. You guys are too good
I love that this is the one place on the Internet I can go to regularly get an Oscar fix six months before the ceremony.

Maybe we jumped the gun a bit since the way it’s shaping up now makes more sense than it did, but some of our reactions are still pretty good so enjoy
Parasite is masterpiece i think it should win 1-3 oscars Best picture, forgein movie and direktor or screenplay
Barcafan zeko123 are you from the future
This is even more hilarious watching this now

SMJClips So true.
Glad this video exists, because GoldDerby got rid of their time machine feature.
My top 10 for Best Picture:
1.- 1917
2.- The Irishman
3.- Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
4.- The Lighthouse
5.- Little Women
6.- A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood
7.- The Goldfinch
8.- Marriage Story
9.- Jojo Rabbit
10.- Ad Astra
Anyway we have to watch the movies to be one hundred percent sure if they will be good or not, so it's more reasonable to think about a movie when you have already seen it.
As someone who is on gold derby, im not responceable for those predictions. I heard bale is supporting and damon is lead in ford vs ferrari
those Goldfinch predictions REALLY haven’t aged well.... at least it had a good cast?
Tfw “Boon Joo-ho” wins director
The brother on the right either tans alot or he knows hes hot
The fuck does one have to do with the other?
You have no idea how much I love your channel. It is 100% me
These goldfinch comments didn’t age well 😪
*Parasite at 100/1 odds* "Teehee"
Haha
the goldfinch got a 40 in metacritic lol
I hope Emma Watson gets the nomination for Best Supp. Actress

If Bohemian Rhapsody and Vice can get nominated for Best Picture fucking anything can! Dora I guess it’s your time now!
So David Rubin is the new president of the Academy. Hopefully he does a better job than the previous one.
Not sure if his tenure becomes effective for this oscar season
Goldfinch won't get nominated for cinematography. Deakins will land one slought for 1917.
Can The Farewell technically qualify for Foreign Language Film considering it’s 2/3 or more Japanese?
But The Farewell is an American movie and America has never submit a film to the best foreign language film category. Also, this year it changes to Best International Film
No, it's an American made movie.
I think cats movie will be nominated for all the academy awards
Awards and box office have no bearing on what is actually quality.
Are you going to do The Lighthouse review
In October for sure
How are you surprised by the rankings when you've clearly aleady made your picks. The red logo right of the names indicates that.
looking forward for Uncut Gems.
What does the green mean? Likely oscars?
Green means I didn’t pick it, red means I did.
You really judge films from the trailers?!? And Jamie Bell was brilliant.

Where is A Beautiful Day in The Neighborhood in the top 5 for Adapted Screenplay?
They just switched it to that category, was in Original when filming this video
Kate winslet for ammonite??
Robert Downey Jr. had the most screen time of anyone in endgame
You’re overhyping the Goldfinch
I thought A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood was adapted?
(It looks like Gold Derby has moved it to Adapted now)
Jonathan Majors _(The Last Black Man in San Francisco)_ is *WAY TOO LOW* in that Supporting Actor list. >_
He's fantastic and I'd give him an Oscar if I could, but it's probably wishful thinking
@@TheOscarExpert Screw wishful thinking, especially when this Oscar prognostication blogosphere/industry is no longer some negligible presence before and during awards season.
Lol Annapurna is going bankrupt. Booksmart won't get nominated with no campaign.
This is weird, that's why i trust Clayton Davis more than Gold Derby
Sometimes Clayton Davis is absolutely insane though. I mean, he finally caved on The Farewell, but dear God, he had that movie at like 40 for picture and actress.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and Marriage Story will go by the wayside.
Iron Man was in 1 hour 2 minutes of Endgame
This years lineup looks boring.
Still better than last year.
you were so wrong lol
Review Kumbalangi nights.
Not playing in my city sorry
@@TheOscarExpert Its available on amazon prime ....and also kindly review the movie mahanati as well.
If you check gold derby now, Pitt is winning by far,😄😄😄😄😄😄

Parasite so low 😂
