I always found it kind of sad that the original Tremere that were mages realized they lost sooo much power in exchange for immortality. I wonder if any of them left alive in modern nights still remember what they could once do
I agree, and I think one of the reasons that Tremere are such busybodies is because they've completely embraced the idea of never looking back at previous decisions and mistakes; if they did, they would realize how many poor ones they've made. They really strike me as a clan of "Can't stop won't stop" which has served them well, so far. But if you cut off the head, one wonders what would happen to the Warlocks. ;)
I’ve got a Caitiff who was Embraced just as they returned from Awakening, and their driving force is their angst at having glimpsed Truth and then been blinded again. His end goal is to transcend Sleep and rise again to true Magic. He has Oblivion, Blood Sorcery, and Protean, because his hunger for the power he had twisted his Blood.
Point of notice: When I talk about Goratrix, the man in the background is actually Grimgroth, the childer of Tremere and the man picked to replace Goratrix in the Inner Council. Just so you know! :D Also, thanks to user NotAWerewolfReally for pointing out that is it believed that many of House Tremere's members were thought to be sorcerers, some speculating that even Tremere himself was. If such is the case, they had no Avatars to break. This is a contested topic, but definitely one worth mentioning.
Toreadors and Brujah can claim to be the "closest to humanity" but the Tremere have the most "Human" qualities; ingenuity, guile, curiosity,...........and questionable morality ; ) But yeah Tremere are my favtiore clan for sure; nostalgia of being my first back in VtM:B, the self-made/self-dammed nature of them, the logical (if completely amoral) reactions to their existence, and lure of flames.............i may be a little bit of a pryo.
Yeah absolutely; I think they are definitely a more "energetic" clan, more interested in innovation and experimentation, than many of the olders. They happen to be my favorite clan, but it's enjoyably ironic that a clan who has such staunch commitment to proper rites and procedures are also so groundbreaking in the things they do!
Whenever I read the back story I am both impressed with the devious nature of clan tremere and slightly guilty that they are my favorite clan. Great video by the way.
Haha, I like them a lot because I feel they embody my own ideals; learn from your past mistakes, but never, ever stop moving forward. I like their go-getter, can-do attitude and their absolute lack of half-measures. I can relate. :P Thank you very much!
@@ThePrimogen to me it is a love for magic and knowledge. Ambition is not something i have much of, but I do share the clans disinterest in titles. You don't need to be the prince when the prince does whatever you say.
As one of the houses in the order of hermes, they were the most confrontational and thirsty for power, it seemed natural that their hubris would led to a terrible decision.
I literally just finished creating a lore video about the Tremere today, and I am just loving how you told their story. Excellent, excellent job. Love the accent, too!
Oh cool! :D I can't wait to see it, I just subbed and I'll be looking through your videos too! Spreading that VtM love! Thanks for checking out my stuff!
Are you kidding me? I watched your Thin-blood video and it's great! Great content from the Bloodlines game, informative, easy to listen to! Don't sell yourself short!
6:50 and that is a story in and of itself. Rumors are that the contact the Tremere had to lead them to the tomb was actually a Setite trying to lead them to Set. Even he doesn't know how he ended up at Saulot's tomb, when he had fed the Tremere the wrong location, as far as he knew.
This was a very interesting one! Very helpful as a player and I want to wipe out the Tremere in the Dark Ages campaign we're doing. Looking forward to your next upload!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it, I always like it when a video comes together easily and Tremere's past is thankfully not very mired in actual history, so I didn't need to double check much. And don't worry, wanting to wipe them out is a completely natural and healthy response. ;)
The tremere mage crawled, blood everywhere as they were trying to get away. Its then a man finaly exited obfuscate. "You know itd save me time if you'd just die already." "What...WHAT are you...?" The elder vampire shrieked. The man steped out of the shade. He was a strongly built man, wearing modern clothes. And almost glowing, are 1,2,3 eyes, glowing a sunset red. "I am the Childer of Samiel. I am one of the few among my caste who have not succumbed to despair. I am the scourge of all things evil. I am called many things. But when whats left of you enters the shadowlands, tell your kin,it was The last childer of samiel who sent you to deaths finality." Blue fire erupted, the tremere was no more. Noone saw a thing as the salubri vanished back into obfuscate.
imaging passing from literally make fire rain over a city to just lit a flame in your hand. i guess no paradox is an "equal exchange" but the lost of the true knowlage of the universe, your areté just for becoming a blood sucking monster who can walk in daylight is a hard blow to take.
Every Clan has its own Weakness but I've never seen the Tremere's weakness. Its said no other vampire will trust a Tremere but no one trusts anyone in Vampire Society.
From learning about their backstory, I came up with an interesting idea for an antagonist for a game (I imagined H:tR, but it could also work for V:tM and M:tA) : Basically, he's a Tremere Antitribu who knows his clan started off as a house of mages, and that thaumaturgy/blood magic is basically just a poor imitation of what true magi can do. So he intends to find a way to allow Vampires to awaken, effectively creating a super-race of Vampire/Mage hybrids. Can anyone tell me what they think of this idea?
Now hold on a moment here, my good friend. Surely you don't mean to tar every Tremere with the same brush? Why, you, from a clan like yours, should know how damaging these preconceived notions are! Stereotypes are unhealthy! Now, if you would just come along here and take a rest of this metal slab...
I've only recently discovered the Tremere. Mainly through the Great and Mighty Kevin. Tho, something tells me they're not quite as entertaining nor endearing.
They are not a Clan, not really. They are pretenders, usurpers. Swine. I loathe these blood mages. ( Did I mention Tzimisce is my favorite Clan.) Far too many Warlocks are still walking the endless night, I aim to remedy this.
So glad i picked this clan for my first vtmb playthrough, probably my fav out of all of them

It'd only make sense if it was a super high generation vampire, like 15th. At that point Vampire blood is so weak Crazy shit can happen
What exactly are the Children Down the Well?
I thought the Giovanni was the usurpers.
They're certainly a clan of usurpers, but one of clan Tremere's official nicknames is "Usurpers".
I'm new to the Masquerade. What does he says at the end of the video? :o
