  • I’ve been sitting on this video a few weeks now so I have a good opinion on both products.
The Coast HP3R is a nice little light I charge it once a week and as long as I don’t leave it on it hasn’t died on me yet. The small form factor is nice and the rubber bite guard is great addition for these small lights.
The MagMaster Pro really comes in handy once I remembered that it was there. I do get stuck to the side of forklifts now and then.
    Update…
A week after posting this Milwaukee emailed me. They wanted this flashlight back so they could look into the failure and sent me out a new one.
Here’s the video where I talk about it.

Funny story: When I was working on conveyors, I got one of those belt magnets. I was walking through a narrow passage with a coworker. The magnet grabbed the conveyor next to me and stopped me dead in my tracks and I fell right on my ass. Out of frustration I threw it in the garbage, and I couldn't get in there because the magnet kept grabbing the lid.

I've got a Streamlight ProTac 2L-X that's been a true EDC for over 5 yrs. During that time, its been dropped hundreds and hundreds of times, occasionally from over 10' onto concrete. It's been swimming countless times in the lakes, rivers even ocean of the PNW. Recharged God only knows how many times between 2 18650 batts. Has more worn spots than anodizing at this point, and continues to impress me.
I bought another & put it up for the (distant, apparently) day this guy finally dies.

If you want a light that will work for years in harsh environments. I had the best luck with a maglite xl50 or xl200 it requires 3AAA batteries though. I used one for a few years in a urethane plant, constantly exposed to high tempature, dropped it many times including at least a few times from a ladder. Chemical exposure as well. I still have it and it still works but the lens is fogged over from chemicals now and the rubber over the on off switch has torn.
In my new career, water distribution, we use bushnell pro 1000L. They're lithium battery and rechargeable. They've been subject to extreme cold and hot, being dropped, tossed around, in the mud and muck and still work.

Does it ever seem like we're making stuff too complex? Why does a flashlight even have the ability to fail? The wiring diagram is what you get when you look up a stock image of a circuit. It's the most basic electrical thing there is. If you replace the bulb and batteries, a flashlight should last until the materials decompose to dust.

It however didn't survive me misplacing it in the parts washer (the dishwasher style). It somehow made its way into the tank and didn't find it till about 6 months later when we drained it for a good cleaning. After that... it no workie lol. @@codyhoward6509 I have thousands of dollars worth of Olights, like hundreds and hundreds of Olight flashlights. I have been using them for about ten years at least and have never had an issue with a single one, from their small keychain lights all the way to the giant 14,000 lumen big bois. Their customer service is absolutely second to none, just amazing.
Waiting for someone to call Olight Chinese junk as if streamlight isn't made in China too😊

I have a similar Coast flashlight that my son has decided is HIS light saber, maybe I'll have to give this one a try.

Damn, I'm over 40 now and I remember playing Star Wars with my friend when we were 5 using flashlights as lightsabers... Lol. Nothing new under the sun I guess. Good to see our trend setting has endured... Lol

Forgot about Coast. Need to give them a try again.
Kinda leery about magnets on the belt. Don’t want to kill my cards of phone.
Like to see if it magnetizes the tool over time.

Did some searching and seem to be common problem with those Milwaukee flashlights.
I'm sure the warranty will cover it.

No warranty? 2 years minimum in the UK, although some places try and get away with 1 year.

I love Milwaukee and easily have more than $12k of Milwaukee tools and packout. That’s said, when it comes to flashlights I only trust OLight and Streamlight. OLight makes a “Baton 4” light that is cheaper, lighter and objectively better than ALL of the rechargeable lights sold by Milwaukee.

if a Flashlight cannot survive a drop from the height of your clacker bag, it aint worth having.

Does the belt magnet hold your wallet? hehe. It's a "privacy" tool for credit cards! GREAT VIDEO. Thank you.

I would warranty claim it and you might end up getting the USB-C version of the flashlight since it was updated recently.

This is why I buy flashlights from FLASHLIGHT companies.. not grab all tool companies wanting a profit.. I love Milwaukee and won’t ever leave them, but flashlights and certain other things I stick with a real source.

I've got 2 streamlight strions i used working on crap including crap trucks and garbage trucks both been dunked in most disgusting corrosive thing on earth (garbage juice) multiple times and both still kicking on original batteries. I've moved to O=light for smaller form factor now that I'm in smaller work areas. I charge less than once a month when used on lowest light setting.

The IP in IP rating actually stands for International Protection, this is because the standard that defines IP ratings which is IEC 60529 states so. It is a really common misconception that IP stands for Ingress Protection.

One of the chips has burnt out, probably the silver paste on the heatsink, or the battery has sucked the kumara, but the tools cheap enough to buy a replacement, if its not under warrenty

Extremely strong magnets close to your body can be hazardous, please look into that. I believe it concerns the iron in ones blood.

That red/green flashing almost seems like a lockout setting. It’s possible that the functionality isn’t properly documented in the manual, but without knowing what management chip they use it’s impossible to suggest further troubleshooting steps.
