Can you do a video talking about cost for the new panel? I’m sure a lot of people want to know what it would take to do the same, I know it’s different for each plane but it would be nice to get a ballpark figure.
Slightly less than the cost of an average ballpark. Just kidding, I was really surprised how inexpensive the gear was, labor is another story of course.
The Garmin site has the dual G3x at $18k, the gtn 750 is $19k, the Garmin auto pilot is about $20k, so just under $50k for that hardware. Add about $20k for the other items Josh had done and between $15k & $20k for labor, so if you wanted to have this done for your 172 figure about $90k. I have the gtn 750 and that is the best thing you can put in any aircraft.
The only RUclipsr that I have seen give you a cost was Stefan Drury for his cirrus! These type of upgrades are definitely out of the price range of the average 172 owner!
Beautiful video. I used to fly from Pompano to Kissimmee all the time to visit family and Disney. This video captures Florida’s beautiful vistas from the air and made me nostalgic for that flight.
Stop over here in Panama City (KECP) or (KMAI) and have a Guided Tour on the house! (Econfina Springs! Deer Point Lake! Bear Creek!) Bring your gear! - Matt Kitchen
Currently in the beginning phases of earning my PPL and each of these videos is such an awesome treat. Radio communication is beginning to almost make sense to me now 😁
Really enjoyed seeing the Smart Glide in action. That would be amazingly helpful in an emergency to give you a little extra time to troubleshoot and get ready for landing. Great video Josh.
Great video! We've eaten at Sharkey's a number of times. Thank you for minimizing the amount of music overlay on the video - it was just the right amount :)
Well I always enjoy your content. I don’t see how you do these videos as I’m sure your busy training new pilots to be. Come to Knoxville Tn sometime. Looking forward to next video.
Can't wait till you release the Aug 13th flight into FFA. I was flying overhead (Velocity N10CN) when you were landing and thought I heard your radio call. I checked when I got home to make sure. I've been flying the G3X since 2016 and am just amazed how capable it is.
Josh, what can i say, I love the pannels and everything you have done to 991 i was blown away by the autoglide system. your content is superb love the channel, thank you for sharing your journey with the skyhawk.....
Josh, you and Cameron are fortunate that you made that trip when you did...Venice was in the zone of Ian's landfall...hope Cameron's hanger in Apopka was undamaged...
What an upgrade to the cockpit! That's transformational. It would initially look like an information overload but over the period of time, you know where to look for the information you are looking for. Happy Flying Josh!
We were just viewing your video of having lunch in Sedona and it reminded us how beautiful the high desert is , we moved to Montana 6 years and still living the dream but so miss the desert. Great channel!
Great video, thanks. I've unfortunately never visited the US, but feel like I have after your videos, Max, Greg, Todd and other great aviators. Thank you Josh.
Crazy seeing all of these airports that are local to me. I did most of my touch n go practice landings for my PPL at Winter Haven and I have flown to Venice several times for lunch and dinner at Sharkys. Amazing cockpit, more than I'd ever care to spend on my plane but still very impressive! I'm based in Kissimmee where I store my plane.
It is impressive how quickly you became fluent with your new panel and technology. A true testimony to your professionalism and dedication to your craft. Well done Sir.
Awesome video as always! I would love to see more videos of you and your dad flying together and even just simple flights in the traffic pattern! Safe flying!
Congrats brother on the new panel. Our panel (almost the same….G3X w/ EIS, 650Xi, GFC500, etc…) is starting next month (182RG). Can’t wait! And can’t wait for the new content. Thanks man for all you do.
I live in Florida and I’m doing my private too I’m 20 hours in and I can’t wait to do my cross country and solos too and your idea of going somewhere and having a lunch or dinner is such a great idea I hope my instructor is up for it too! Thank you and you earned a new subscriber!
The capabilities with new instrumentation turn me green with envy compared to the way it was when I learned to fly in the late 70s. I loved flying then and always will love it. But the capabilities now are nothing short of a godsend. "Back in the day" many pilots in GA talked about holding such things as autopilots in disdain. You know - "a REAL pilot" would do this or that. But I look on the newer instrumentation capabilities as simply ways to allow the pilot to be more of a manager, to have better situational awareness, and to simply stay on top of things during the flight. To me that allows the pilot to have some more time to enjoy the flight with the confidence that he/she has provided the best possible safety and circumstances necessary for a safe enjoyable flight.
Regarding DMMS. Do you calculate a DMMS speed for various flap setting? Most people dump 10 deg on downwind, then another 10 deg on base and so on. Talking about a 172.
Heard about you in a recent AOPA podcast. This was my first video. Well done sir. I fly a light sport with glass panel. Couldn’t go back to steam gauges.
Brought me back memories for when I did my 149 NM solo, had the guts to go through the same route and ask for permission to do a 360 next to the TFR, 😏
I really enjoyed watching this video Josh. Perhaps on your next video you guys can fly somewhere for singing lessons....just kidding. Keep up the good work.
I live in Apopka and pass that airport frequently so I couldn't not like this video. Looking forward to your upcoming videos and hoping to get my private pilot license very soon! Safe travels and keep up the great content!
You moved up to Alaska right? Got excited when you were in Apopka. Looking for a fixed wing add on. Nice video. Agree with other guy would like to know cost all in on that plane and glass.
Ahh so jelly. You got to fly over WDW. I’ve flown over it several times in the sims, but never in real life. That was so cool. Love the new avionics. And that view over the lake on approach. Wow!
Little late to the party, but another great video. That's an amazing panel setup. Since I just did a couple of compass swings for new correction cards at work this week, your camera mounted over your mag compass caught my eye. I realize with all the glass the mag compass is pretty redundant since you don't have to worry about using it to set your heading gyro, but I'm curious how much that throws the heading off. I was surprised to find just how sensitive those things can be. In the King Airs, just turning on the AC skews the compass by almost 90 degrees. A phone or iPad throws it way off as well. The camera's probably not as severe but it'd be something to keep in mind in the (unlikely) event of a full avionics failure.
I'm curious, Josh. With all the upgrades to the interior of the airplane, have you thought about wheel pants? I bet you'd get maybe another knot or two out of the airplane if you had them. I mean, I'm not trying to say anything about about the airplane, but those wing shots towards the cockpit, it's like 'naked black wheels' and they really detract, at least to me. I realize that airplanes, any airplane, used in a training environment, normally doesn't have the wheel pants, just because of the added time to remove and replace them during maintenance, but 991 isn't really about training. Anyway, having said that, I think the G3X Touch install in 991 is very nice. With the GTN750 and the GNC225, that's really all you need for navigation. I hope you sent your panel photos to Garmin, they ought to display it. :D
I imagine the price of this major upgrade is daunting, but Daytona Aircraft seems to be focussed on delivering the whole package, with the entire plane getting at least a close examination, even if no work was needed on a particular component. As a customer, your peace of mind is a result of theirs. They would seem to be unwilling to simply overlay tech onto an airframe that isn’t ready for it. That has a value all its own.
The way Cameron shouts “clear!“ makes me laugh every time. Never stop having fun!
I am still stuck on who's "Clear!" is better Cameron or Chris.
I've started doing that and I either get a laugh out of people or they look at me like I've lost my mind.
I had a rewind that part a few times. Lol
Can you do a video talking about cost for the new panel? I’m sure a lot of people want to know what it would take to do the same, I know it’s different for each plane but it would be nice to get a ballpark figure.
I agree. I know the equipment was free, but what would it have cost? And the installation could not have been trivial.
Love & heart pounding.
We want Chelsea! Great video!
The situational awareness and the coms are spectacular.
Picturesque view over the lake 🌄
The "Cleeeeaarrrr" that started in Alaska and is still echoing to this day all the way into Florida.
Thanks Josh for all your beautiful videos. Your new glass looks terrific. I'm sticking with you. Thanks again.
Josh your content is amazing, I think you are a better film maker than pilot and your are a great pilot so it's a tough bar to clear. All the best.
Beautiful video. I used to fly from Pompano to Kissimmee all the time to visit family and Disney. This video captures Florida’s beautiful vistas from the air and made me nostalgic for that flight.

The 1st response is a SCAM. Beware. Dammit they got to this channel too.
The new panel is sure a big jump from the old one. Thank you for the video. Take care - be safe and hope everyone is doing well.
Love Venice!! They really need to be a Delta with controllers for safety. That airport is so busy!!
Unreal how much quality you bring to us in every video.
Really enjoyed seeing the Smart Glide in action. That would be amazingly helpful in an emergency to give you a little extra time to troubleshoot and get ready for landing. Great video Josh.

You’re loving that Garmin G3X “TOUCH” ….. Great vid! Enjoyed the fly over Disneyland 👍🏾
Walt Disney World :)
Very cool panel the views from the cockpit were awesome
Well I’ll be right back! I don’t want to watch this in my phone… but I also don’t want to leave my bed yet haha
Love the videos, wish I could have talked to you more in Louisville, but was glad to see you there. Fly Safe.
Hope that you and your pretty airplane are safe and sound with that nasty storm coming so near to you.

Josh - really enjoyed watching your video !
As always, great content!
Thanks for sharing.
Looking forward to the next one!
Some of the most comforting words you can hear on the common frequencies….. “I have you in sight.”
What an upgrade to the cockpit! That's transformational. It would initially look like an information overload but over the period of time, you know where to look for the information you are looking for. Happy Flying Josh!
Thanks for the flight really enjoyed the views 👍👍😎
Keep grinding out these videos! We love you!

The panels definitely look great. Nice view of Winter Haven from the air . 🏠
Beautiful sunset to fly with!
Just visited VNC a couple weeks ago from TMB. Great place for a day-trip lunch. Love the panel upgrade. Hope you have a blast with it.
Another good one Josh! Thanks!

Love the way that fella calls “Cleeaarrr “
😎👍
To get to fly for a living in your own airplane and your own destinations is the good life, I am happy for him.
Great video, love your upgrade, stay safe and keep those great experiences coming!!

Love what you did to the Cessna Josh keep them videos coming 🎉
Absolutely positively fantastic
The fun came through your voices loud and clear.
Just found your channel. Looks like you have another fan.
I liked the music change when seeing the reflection over the lake.
Great episode Josh, I always enjoy your videos. You have a sweet new panel, it makes me excited to start flying.
Enjoyed the show and tell of new toys! Come along way Josh....well done..
music drops the beat 😂👌🏾
Solid video as always! Love seeing Texas aviators continuing to be successful.
Just finished my RV-14 with dual G3X w AP. Looking forward to your videos on how to manage that in IFR. Thanks!
As soon as you two started singing, I got a vision of Farley & Spade in Tommy Boy.

I ate at Sharkey's back in 1994 when I did my first solo cross-country, It was excellent.
Beautiful panel Josh, well done!
Crazy awesome views
Love the video Josh. Great job.
The Smart Glide feature could be a life saver!

Definitely some great eating places in that area!
Great shots of Disney.
Latest in technology glass panel, I like it but I have to master the analog cockpit before I get to your level josh. I wish you could be my CFI
Great video. 991 looks awesome with the new panel. Gig em
Great work and congrats on the panel!
Hello from Minnesota!! Really great episode!
Nice panel. all the bells and whistles a pilot could want. Missing your darlin on the videos.
Beautiful sunset thank you for video love it ❤❤❤❤❤❤
9, 9r 1 got new avionics! Nice! Sharks is in my back yard! Great place
Love your videos. Great job!
Great video! Keep up the good work!
Cant wait for "auto-pilot indicate" that will be a good one to learn, keep them going!

great trip & video. That auto glide is amazing what a instrument system you have. Your friend and you had too much fun :)
RIP Josh, you made great videos. 😪

That’s awesome! I have the same response as him just ridiculous in a good way😎
It was cool to see Disney from the air
I'm 14 and you inspired me so much to become a pilot in the future!
Do it! It has become the most rewarding challenge I’ve ever faced, and the bird’s eye view you get from the cockpit…….. nothing can take its place.
Josh! What a machine! Next upgrade, is upgrading 991 with a m9tor from a 172SP
That panel is fire! 🔥
Love the new panel Josh! I know you have worked really hard to be able to get that. Look forward to the next adventure.
Awesome! 👏👏
I am looking forward to a video discussing your video setup since the upgrades.
