  • This ad was from when the Milford Plaza in New York went national in its marketing as evidenced by the 1-800 number. This is from 1980 but was aired around 1990 or 1991; I don't have many details on when my video tape was handled.
The hotel closed down not too long ago and it is very doubtful that it will end up reopening. Which is a shame because from this ad I expected that I would be treated with class and that the whole place would be like one show stopping number. Then again, for $49 a night for all that I am not so sure that would be the case.

Lord, this takes me back. I swear WPIX made 30% of their ad revenue off of this commercial alone in the 80s.

It's safe to say everyone born in the 1980s sang this as kids, and has it permanently stuck in their heads. I'm very guilty of this!

This commercial was on constantly when I was little. Back then, I thought the Milford Plaza looked glamorous. Every time the commercial came on, my Queens born father would say "What a dump." Lol. Great memories.

This ad was designed to "play" on New York stations (with occasional "updates" as to prices, phone number, et. al.) for years...right into the '90s.

Amadeus, A Chorus Line, and Dreamgirls are featured in this commercial. It's from the early-to-mid 1980s, not the '90s.

According to Wikipedia, "Dreamgirls" opened 12/20/81 so this commercial can't be from 1980.

I'll be the first to admit that I have no real idea when the ad was first aired...I just used 1980 as an estimate. Thanks for the tip though.

PERFECT place for migrants from Honduras who just crossed the Rio Grande a day or two ago, and need to dry out their underpants and get some well-deserved rest. Thank you, Great Mayor Adams!!!
