It might be helpful to remember that Nagarjuna said: "There is not the slightest difference between nirvana and samsara. There is not the slightest difference between samsara and nirvana."
This was incredibly useful. I've been struggling with this for a while, and hadn't made the connection with.. well, "disconnection". i sometimes fall into periods of months sitting, and then months when i don't sit
Thank you Jack! It was very helpful! And thank you for taking the time to show the beautiful landscape of Croatia! I wish you the best this year and that you can continue to share your passion of zen practice
Your video brought a smile to my face (several times). I have also struggled with zen burnout, and I like your take on it. I have a job at a tax office, and part of my "thing" is that I try to use what I learn from zen practice to help our clients. So that's maybe a way to bring zen practice into my life. Don't know about the pickles. Happy new year!
I watched it in reverse, i.e. I accidentally watched the last episode first, had no idea, watched episode 2 on forward, came to the season finale...and realized -- oh no... !!
You did not ask, but I turn off all forms of notifications for anything which I won’t need timely attention. Sounds, badges, notifications, anything. It doesn’t stop me from checking it, but it means I’m going to do it on my terms.
To me, practice meditating is like a teacher throwing a chalk at students day dreaming, and asking them to pay attention. Cant burnout from paying attention.
Hey bro, could you please do a video about your relationship with Leonard Cohen? I read his book and he left zen for Advaita Vedanta even though he lived at your centre for 5 years? Love Leonard and would be so grateful if you did a detailed video. Much Love
Yanno...this is a good idea. It's been on my mind. Just to let you know, I will (probably, cos you never know with these things) be having a piece on Leonard in an issue of Tricycle magazine some time this year. Maybe I should do a video with him too. Thank you.
remember, remember, remember. Thank you for the reminder! 🤘🤩
Always!
Many thanks for the great videos of 2024.
May you and yours have a healthy and happy New Year.
🙏☮
Thank you Eric, 2025 HERE WE GO!

That guy thing is called "strategic incompetence". It goes on top of our regular incompetence.
God, that’s a beautiful phrase. Strategic incompetence.
“Zen and the Art of Pickle Passion” by Shozan Jack Haubner! 😊 Happy New Year! Great chat as usual.
I like the sound of that my friend!

Sometimes a pickle is just a pickle.. but sometimes it's a lesson in selflessness
Arigato sensei!!! ;)

Season 2 is upon us soon!
@zenconfidential25 yes it is. Can't wait

@@zenconfidential25 now that is hilarious. Lol
Thank you, I found that very helpful.
Beautiful forest. Thanks Jack🙏
Thank you too!

I've done that too, yes, I have ZERO notifications. I STILL check it too much. (Sigh)
This works for me as well. I sometimes notice that I have forgotten where I put my phone, because I don't habitually check it every five seconds.
I also have a pouch with a lock where I lock the dang thing up!
@@zenconfidential25 Do you compulsively unlock the pouch to check? 🤔
I CAN'T unlock it!! It's awesome....

That is a really good point, and a great slogan.
Isn't Count Orlok from Croatia?
Or perhaps its Romania....
Wishing you a Happy and prosperous New Year.
Orlok...that sounds familiar!
Just googled....I think Nosferatu is based-ish on Dracula who was Romanian.
Well practice to put your brain out of commission and daily life are separate things.
That could be
