I loved that I was a part of that generation...it was slightly older than me but I was still a part of it because I had an older sister...this was a good song...we are a generation about change and the music was totally about that

I can say honestly that being around back then was a paradise compared to today. We had all the nice stuff, minus the nasty stuff.
Most of all people in general were way nicer. I’m lucky to have been in high school in the 80s. I’m sad kids today will never know what it was like being young in those days. Now I really get it why my parents and grandparents used to speak so affectionately about their youth. It’s not just nostalgia.
Some eras are genuinely nicer to live in. And in some very big ways that’s what the 80s were for me. No time is without troubles, but living in the vicious dystopian madness of 21st century USA…the 80s look damn awesome to me.

How much I do miss the times when people went to pubs (clubs) to have a drink and chat with friends without fights, or strange things around. Just good music and friendship
Hot damn I remember this track when I would binge watch Pretty In Pink and I would queue my VHS up to this scene JUST to hear the beginnings of this song so briefly and then the camera panned to focus on their conversation at the table. Off & on, I'd hunt for it every few years and bam! here it is. Thank you for posting!
Five Dee they were a band that got ripped off completley by thier record company and managers. As far as i know they never got the chance to release anything to a wider audience despite being a group with a large following in california who sold out most venues. This would be vinyl rareity worth a fortune if they had pressed and released even a small number of LPs
Five Dee there were other bands who featured in john hughes films around that time that swallowed the same fate. Danny hutton hitters & oingo boingo more or less went into the abyss. Flesh for lu lu had a few releases but were perhaps three years too late to really attain any major success, the crowd at the batcave club had begun to dwindle down by then. Great artists who were very underated and deserved thier few minutes of fame

They "released" this song last April on the album "When Drums Talk" and it's on YT. What a great song; never understood why it wasn't a big radio hit, given the success of the movie.
Because they didn't add them to the soundtrack and didn't credit them.
Should be on the Official soundtrack!

it sounds a little like ska/reggae inspired 80s pop rock. for a similiar sound from this era go check out The Police, in case you haven't already heard of them
