Now watch Heart with John's son Jason play this at the Kennedy Center Awards. The musicians honored never know who us going to play what song. That same night singer-songwriter Carole King was honored and Aretha Franklin sang "(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman." Carole co-wrote it with her then husband and Aretha was the first to record it on her soul music debut in 1967. Carole re-did it for her monster selling album Tapestry in 1971. If you want a rabbit hole that will fill most of the rest of the year, try Rush. If the vocals don't bother you, the music should carry the day. And starting with their second album they replaced the drummer with lyricist Neil Peart who is with John at the top of greatest rock drummers lists. Robert Plant on harmonica on When the Levee Breaks.

I never comment on videos, but I have been following your journey through Led Zeppelin and it’s been one of my favorite things to watch recently. I’ve been anxiously waiting to see you react to Led Zeppelin for and I was not disappointed. I’ve seen other comments mentioning But seeing as how much you like Led Zeppelin, I think you would really appreciate Pink Floyd. The dark side of the moon, wish you were here, etc. I appreciate your reactions.
for stairway to heaven the instrument is the flute setting on a mellotron. also track six. four sticks is called that because john used four drum stick
The song Rock & Roll was an extra, thanks to Bonham, & it was written & recorded in about 30 minutes. On the song Four Sticks, Bonham was playing with 4 sticks, 2 in each hand. He was getting frustrated with the timing, & trying to play with 4 sticks. He took a break from it, & started ponding out the beat to Rock & Roll, & then we also got Rock & Roll on the spot. Four Sticks sadly was only played live once, & it’s only audio, would have loved seeing him play. The Battle Of Evermore, is in reference to Lord Of The Rings, the only song to have another vocalist singing, Sandy Denny a folk singer, using her beautiful vocals. Stairway To Heaven, a must see live MSG (1973), is & has been considered the best Rock song of all time. It has been played more then any other song, & has been number one or two on top lists of 100 to 500 song lists, for over 50 years. If you really love Bonham’s drumming, you need to watch his 20 minute drum solo live, called Moby Dick. That solo shows why he’s the greatest drummer ever, to think he plays that over 200 times, during 3 to 4 hour long nonstop concerts is amazing. Page is the greatest guitarist, he needs to play like needing to breath, & he certainly does especially in the lives. Plant is the greatest vocalists, his range tone & textures, suit each song as needed. JPJ amazing on bass keyboards & mandolin, & anything else needed. When The Levee Breaks, that’s Plant on the harmonica, & he plays it so beautifully. He only plays it on a couple songs, which is to bad, wish it was a few more. Yes not a bad song really on any album, maybe a couple not everyone’s favorites, but certainly don’t suck. All four each not just GOATS, but The GODS of music. I’m so glad you are loving them, & so many others your age, don’t mind the long songs either. Thanks for your reaction
You have to get into Hendrix, man. HAVE TO. Having said that, I envy you going on this journey. Reminds me of my junior high/high school days. It’s beautiful.
You continue to impress the beejesus out of Mr. De Von. I watch alot of reactions, but yours is by far the best. Your approach is one thing, your natural ability to communicate your opinions is another, and, most impressively of all, is your analysis of what you are reacting to. It is that of someone who is many years older than your scant 24 years on the planet should be.
I love how Battle of Evermore still sounds relevant today. And how you can hear how much Led Zeppelin influenced grunge artists. I could hear Layne and Jerry from Alice in Chains singing Evermore.
I think it's so true your comments on zeppelin 3. We've all sat around and listened to all of this music for so long and thought about these things and wondered about these things and discussed these things. And while there's not just "one way" to "get" a song or band or album, I have to say you really get it. (P.S "If you could combine. Led Zeppelin 3 and Led Zeppelin 1 and 2 and come up with the perfect album" And I'm just laughing because I know what you're about to listen to!)
Battle of evermore was a duet with a woman named Sandy from another band. Once you know that and you listen to it again it blows your mind how good their harmonies are and how good she is!
Darius I sincerely appreciate and enjoy your reaction to this album. This was the first Led Zeppelin album I purchased back in 1975, and the excitement you express as you progress through its tracks takes me back to my own first experience with it. Bravo!
You are correct about when you compare Zep III with Zep I & II. When the band were making zep III, the record company wanted another Zep II album but the band wanted to go a different direction. I agree that Zep III sounds a lot more free. Great reaction.
@@lifeofdariiusYup! Listen again with harmonica in mind (hard to get out of context sometimes), but Robert rocks it - not just an amazing singer! LOVE your videos, BTW!
This album more than any other was the backdrop of my high school years. And Houses of the Holy. I had zero incentive for studying just wanted to get high and listen to these masterpieces! And I had training in classical music lol. Your reactions very entertaining!
Love how you’re looking to investigate, go in deep dives. That’s how you help people make connections…it’s why I subscribed. Grateful Dead. You will find sublime satisfaction in unpacking this band. “A band beyond description”. You want to create a trip? This band IS the trip.
NGL I was waiting for this one, I know you're gonna love this. Also, I'd recommend London Calling by The Clash. British band also, a few years later after Zeppelin/Beatles, that album is also a classic!! Greetings from 🇲🇽 my friend
Jimmy Page didn’t play on While My Guitar Gently Weeps (that was Eric Clapton) but as a session musician he did play on songs like the Goldfinger theme, It’s Not Unusual (aka the Carlton song) and the score for the Hard Day’s Night movie.
Awesome reaction bruh “guitar sorcerer” had me rolling 😂 amazing record and also the drums on when the levee breaks have been sampled a million times, they probably sound familiar. Also when we getting Dark side of the moon?
I absolutely LOVE Led Zeppelin, & have for about 50 years, there’s a couple songs I don’t care for either. Compared to other bands, there’s a hell of a lot more songs to love. LZ 3 got criticized heavily by critics, but then critics back then never said anything nice about them. Critics & media lied about them, that that Zep rarely gave interviews, & wouldn’t do TV. Their fans loved them & we still do, imagine that, in our 60’s & 70’s & we are still rocking to them. Yes you do need to see Since I’ve Been Loving You live at Madison Square Gardens (1973), when you pick the video, under it it says something like AC/DC that’s the best camera views. The live of that is so amazing, their lives are actually better then the studio, more solo & some added vocals. They loved playing live for their fans, so they gave them extra.
Finally !!! I was worried about you Darius. I thought maybe someone in Flint took a dislike to your reaction video or something. I’ve been dying to see this one.
Just discovered your channel on some Beatles vids, watching this first Led Zep reaction, love your energy, thoughts etc You definitely get it on multiple levels and great to hear your reactions, subscribed, keep em coming music and non-music
Stairway to Heaven defined Rock Radio in the first half of the 70s because it was played daily for years. Stairway was played on radio so often that even LZ got tired of it. Later in life, Page admits it's their masterpiece. Page wrote the music. Plant added the lyrics almost immediately when he heard it. I think it's the greatest song from the rock era. After all these years and countless hearings, I still enjoy listening to it. There is a Led Zeppelin tribute at the Kennedy Center where the group Heart performs Stairway with the members watching except Bonham. I know you would love it.
I love your reaction to STH, it’s genuinely my favorite song of all time. I stand by everything I said about this album last vid on Zep. I’m telling you man. Next albums going to be great soon. Please please please, make a solo video on Stairway to Heaven Live, the song is extended and the performance will is *freaking* amazing, 11 minutes of glory, trust trust trust
Btw the reason Jimmys guitars sound like that is cause he did layering “multi-tracks”, so he would record the same guitar lick like 3 times and play them over eachother
re: "song remains the same". I checked and it changed a little. Its now digital. Most of us old timers had to put up with clicks and pops and scratches on our LPs. This was especially true with Led Zep albums because we played them so damn much.
11:48 on the contrary, bands like Led Zeppelin and the Beatles and (ik you haven’t checked them out yet but) Pink Floyd and their immaculate album construction has inspired me to make playlists with intention. Make playlists like they made their albums, consider how each song flows into the next, create that feel of a perfect album that’s unique to you. Shuffling is for scrubs. The Album as an art form is an incredible medium and guys like this were masters of their craft, take that energy into your own listening every day.
"Stairway to Heaven" and "In My life" by The Beatles are what I consider the two greatest rock songs ever written and you uploaded your reaction to both on the same day. You sir...are a LEGEND. 😎😎😎

This is the correct reaction.
Four Sticks is in a mix 5/8 and 6/8 time. It’s the 5/8 that feels so relentlessly off-kilter
I watch many reactions after working my ass off, in my home, Happy Hour if you will.
( No check points between the sofa and the fridge).but I believe when you said this album was f/#@ing with the Stasch, I lost my shit! 😂😂
Hall of Fame reaction to the greatest Rock band ever! ❤
I remember my first listening to Stairway....your reaction was spectacular. And Black Dog, "ah shit" is right. This album is perfection.
The song "Four Sticks" is so named because John Bonham is playing the drums with four sticks.
Bro, i was literally thinking today when u were gonna do this.
So excited for your houses of the holy reaction
When I first heard LZ IV I thought damn that’s the best rock album ever recorded I still believe that today
You have to get into Hendrix, man. HAVE TO.
Having said that, I envy you going on this journey. Reminds me of my junior high/high school days. It’s beautiful.
Revolver usually tops the polls but Zep IV is always right up there.
Your reaction is priceless! Love zeppelin , I was jammin with you ,thanks ❤️ ♥️ great personality dude !😊
When the Levee Breaks is my fave. A cover of an old blues tune from the 1920s.
I was just waiting for your reaction to " When the levee breaks". And it was exactly what I expected 👍
John Bonham played with 4 sticks on this track.amazing.
Ok you’re officially my favorite reactor on YT. Patreon next!
You got it. How can a band be so good?
I love how Battle of Evermore still sounds relevant today. And how you can hear how much Led Zeppelin influenced grunge artists. I could hear Layne and Jerry from Alice in Chains singing Evermore.
Don't forget Cornell's huge influence in vocal style from Plant.
I think it's so true your comments on zeppelin 3. We've all sat around and listened to all of this music for so long and thought about these things and wondered about these things and discussed these things. And while there's not just "one way" to "get" a song or band or album, I have to say you really get it. (P.S
"If you could combine.
Led Zeppelin 3 and Led Zeppelin 1 and 2 and come up with the perfect album" And I'm just laughing because I know what you're about to listen to!)
Yes stairway to heaven is like one of the greatest rock songs ever and watching your reaction was just fucking priceless
Battle of evermore was a duet with a woman named Sandy from another band. Once you know that and you listen to it again it blows your mind how good their harmonies are and how good she is!
Darius, It does not get any better than this. Rock Master Class!
Darius I sincerely appreciate and enjoy your reaction to this album. This was the first Led Zeppelin album I purchased back in 1975, and the excitement you express as you progress through its tracks takes me back to my own first experience with it. Bravo!
"There no drop-off to the drumming," he says...t right before Four Sticks! 🤣🤣🤣
You got the gift, brother. Keep it coming.
When the levee breaks is a cover from 1929 blues song about the 1927 Mississippi River levee breaches.
You are correct about when you compare Zep III with Zep I & II. When the band were making zep III, the record company wanted another Zep II album but the band wanted to go a different direction. I agree that Zep III sounds a lot more free. Great reaction.
Four Sticks is my absolute favorite Led Zeppelin song
dark side of the moon by pink floyd is definitely gonna have you floating 🔥
The intense demonic sounds on When the Levee Breaks comes from Robert Plant's harmonica. Great stuff!
A HARMONICA????
@@lifeofdariiusYup! Listen again with harmonica in mind (hard to get out of context sometimes), but Robert rocks it - not just an amazing singer! LOVE your videos, BTW!
Such a DIRTY sound - the harmonica is the first thing to come in after the drum intro, the band follows a fraction of a second later.
Gotta love this album...just like all their others! Robert is on the harmonica in When The Levee Breaks!
Hey Darius, just found you a week ago and as a massive Beatles and Zeppelin fan I really enjoyed your input. great reviews!
This band IS the trip.
the 'oh my gawwwdd' at the beginning of when the levee was so perfect
Robert plays the harmonica on 'When the Levee Breaks'
NGL I was waiting for this one, I know you're gonna love this. Also, I'd recommend London Calling by The Clash. British band also, a few years later after Zeppelin/Beatles, that album is also a classic!! Greetings from 🇲🇽 my friend
Love, love, love your reactions to our Boomer music. Oh yeah, light it up when listening to LZ. ❤😂
Jimmy Page didn’t play on While My Guitar Gently Weeps (that was Eric Clapton) but as a session musician he did play on songs like the Goldfinger theme, It’s Not Unusual (aka the Carlton song) and the score for the Hard Day’s Night movie.
I hope you start getting to pink floyd
they're one of the best aswell
Awesome reaction bruh “guitar sorcerer” had me rolling 😂 amazing record and also the drums on when the levee breaks have been sampled a million times, they probably sound familiar. Also when we getting Dark side of the moon?
John Bonham played the "When the Levee Breaks" drums in a stairwell! A lot of natural echo in all that thunder
Interesting! 🤓 Never knew that but totally makes sense.
The stairwell of an old mansion
I’ve been dying to see this one.
nah this is crazy 😂 I appreciate the concern Teddy
Yours is the proper way to react to this album. You will love PHYSICAL GRAFFITI too.
Just discovered your channel on some Beatles vids, watching this first Led Zep reaction, love your energy, thoughts etc You definitely get it on multiple levels and great to hear your reactions, subscribed, keep em coming music and non-music
Appreciate your enthusiasm and honesty. 💚 cheers.
Much appreciated 🙏🏾
Stairway to Heaven defined Rock Radio in the first half of the 70s because it was played daily for years. Stairway was played on radio so often that even LZ got tired of it. Later in life, Page admits it's their masterpiece. Page wrote the music. Plant added the lyrics almost immediately when he heard it.
I think it's the greatest song from the rock era. After all these years and countless hearings, I still enjoy listening to it.
There is a Led Zeppelin tribute at the Kennedy Center where the group Heart performs Stairway with the members watching except Bonham. I know you would love it.
You'll love Houses of the Holy, can't wait!
Best ever reaction!
You’ve finally heard the greatest song ever writtenn
I love your reaction to STH, it’s genuinely my favorite song of all time. I stand by everything I said about this album last vid on Zep.
I’m telling you man. Next albums going to be great soon.
Please please please, make a solo video on Stairway to Heaven Live, the song is extended and the performance will is *freaking* amazing, 11 minutes of glory, trust trust trust
Also, I’m standing by the fact that Physical Graffiti is the best album, the band says it, I say it, I’m telling ya, I’m so excited for it to come
Btw the reason Jimmys guitars sound like that is cause he did layering “multi-tracks”, so he would record the same guitar lick like 3 times and play them over eachother
Also I maybe talking a bit too soon, but the band I pray you’ll listen and react to soon is Rush, their first album actually sound a lot like Rush
re: "song remains the same".
Have you ever listened to Rush?? Loving the videos and your vibe man!
"Stairway to Heaven" and "In My life" by The Beatles are what I consider the two greatest rock songs ever written and you uploaded your reaction to both on the same day. You sir...are a LEGEND. 😎😎😎
Great reactions. Nicely done.
