I live near Morecambe and every summer the factories and shipyards would close for two weeks, the vast majority of Glaswegians would decamp to Morecambe. God bless them. The Lancaster ‘boys’ and Morecambe ‘boys’ would for 2 weeks team up to fight the Scottish ‘boys’. All hell would ensue. All locals would avoid the place but the hotels, guest houses, cafes, amusement arcades and fairgrounds were financially made for the summer. It was the 60s and 70s, what more can you say apart from after Thatcher came to power, it all went down the shitter.
It was a pleasure to watch. It good to celebrate the people we love while they are still with us so they can see the love and appreciation we have for them. Glasgow has done him proud💛👏👏👏👏
I was 13/14 years old (1973/4) and a friend had bought an album by Billy Connolly, I have been a fan ever since that day. I'm 63 now and have followed this man most of my life. He is simply a Comedy Genius. My Comedy Hero for 50 years or so, Thank you Billy for always being there to cheer me up at my darkest times.
Whenever the burden of life gets a bit heavy, I switch Billy on and my spirit gets lifted again. He and George Carlin are the two greatest ever stand-up comedians ever. Pure genius.
This wonderful man.....who lit up the world and gave us endless laughter through the decades! I never laughed harder than at Billy's wit! Gd bless ya big yun!
Mr B. Connolly. nigh on my most favorite person the human race has ever produced. God help us if there isn't a statue or such to commemorate such a wonderful human being. Went to many of his wee nights in Australia. He's right. I don't remember a thing! But my jaw was so sore the next day!
Remarkable talent. I watch reruns of Billy Connolly regular. My days are so much better for having watched this man. The laughter, and memories of his performances have improved many of my days. God bless, love him always
God I love you Billy Connolly. A gift from Glasgow to the world. I miss my second home. My husband is Glaswegian and reminds me so much of Billy in looks and humour love you Big Yin from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️ 💙
I discovered Billy a little late in life. I was watching George Carlin videos here on RUclips and on the side where related videos are, I saw a video that said, "Billy Connolly tells the best joke ever" It was the joke about the dwarf on a bus. I was sitting at my desk in my wheelchair in front of my laptop, and I nearly fell out of my wheelchair laughing my ass off. I've loved Billy ever since.
I am so happy Billy got this experience, Billy is so humble and he’s so right Glasgow: does belong to him ❤God bless you Billy I hope you live to 100 love the three portraits of him but my favourite is Vettriano’s.
I watched with tears in my eyes and smile on my face... Three amazing artistic tributes to Scotland's no.1 son. Time and tide might have slowed you down Billy, but the cheeky irreverence of your humour and the love of your homeland emanates from you still. You are a true icon.
I so love this.. I've seen this document many times and every time I get tears of joy, when I see Billy and John together. They are great friends, like brothers. ❤
I remember a man looking at me from a shop on Dundas Street over a period of time when i was a young man. I lived in the area then and often walked into town up that huge hill. I often wondered about this shop and this person. I was interested in art and would look at the shop as i passed. I now know it was John Byrne. What a remarkable talent to have and i wish i had stepped into the shop to say hello. The paintings were all framed in gold leaf and that put me off as a place i wasn't meant to be. Wish i had gone in to say hello to him. Incredible Artist. Stevie in Scotland.
Being a Mackem myself (No not a Geordie even though we are usually and annoyingly mistaken for One) The Big Yin is still my All time favourite Comedian and I doubt there will ever be another that meets his Criteria and Experience of life.I’ve always said Billy Tells stories not jokes and my favourite thing about Him is his ability to go completely off Piste yet return to what he was originally talking about. A Talent without doubt and it’s Soul Destroying to see how debilitating Parkinson’s disease has taken this man’s normal off the rails personality.
I’m about to move from Cardiff to Glasgow to live with my girlfriend. I’m autistic and frankly I’m terrified. Billy doesn’t know it, but he’s helping me through one of the most drastic experiences of my life. When you leave us, Billy (and hopefully it won’t be for a while yet) I will mourn you more than I did the queen!
Yeah the Big Yin!! makes me laugh to that's why i have alot of him on my channel so when I need some laughs it's all in my place, good luck with your move, scotland is a lovely place, thanks for listening
Billy is an honest to god saint. He’s peaceful and truly cares about his fellow man…you could also say he’s part philosopher, part scholar maybe even one of histories great thinkers.. but i know one thing for certain and that is if he wasn’t gifted to us via Glasgow we wouldn’t have the Billy Connolly we all know and love because he is Glasgow more than Glasgow is him..he just adds something absolutely brilliant and beautiful. Thank God For Billy Connolly
Sooo enjoyed his "photo shoot" segment...looks like he immensly enjoyed it too! So glad this popped on my randon "for you" side bar...thanks for having posted this to YT - Billy was an ABSOLUTE GEM!!!
National Treasure in Scotland goes without saying. He's definitely that . The rest of us including this 1st Generation Dutch American he's a International Treasure. The Artists are the Cherry on the Banana split Ice cream Sunday.. He's not only a Commedy and Music peice of Work . He's been helping display visual arts for decades. Banana Wellies and then some.. We all owe him thanks.😁😁😁😁
I love Billy and every thing about this program including the Art is easpecaly wonderful. It makes me remember Johnathan Winters Art he painted and showed Johnny Carson on his show. It well worth looking up. 😁 this show made my day.
10 years ago I told that joke of somewhere to park your bike, every time I see him he asks me where I’ve parked my bike. He’s my daughter’s ex and I wish he wasn’t, he’s the only boyfriend with a real sense of humour she ever had. My brother recently died, of Parkinson’s and he came to his wake and the first thing he said was “where did you park your bike Mum”. Billy has given the world so much that joins us (the ones with a sense of humour) together. Miss you Steve, love Mum.
One of the things I’ve noticed about Billy Connolly that I’m surprised I never noticed earlier is what a nice bloke he seems to be despite all his fame and wealth. The type of guy you could got for a beer (or in his case, coffee !) with. I suppose age mellows people.
I remember Billy on Parkinson which is the first time I ever saw him. He was wearing the banana boots. They said Fyffes on them. I was talking to a colleague at work about the show. She said ‘ oh yeah he was wearing banana boots that said ‘ Fifi’s.’ Lmao!!
I was commissioned to paint an oil painting with Billy Connolly. It was very interesting to watch your video in order to better understand this wonderful person and show his character in the picture. Thank you!
I'm only 6 minutes in but ytf has this been on utube for 2 years and only 50k have watch it has utube drop the ball on put this out more if not what the hell is going on
Dick Vandyke is over 90 another Wonderful Commedy Actor Dancer. It's about saying active. Billy Connelly has done that. The book is called Keep moving. Dick wanted to call it Things to do while circling the drain. 😁 I t keeps me trying just like Billy. Thank you Both Billy and Dick.
A true comedian. I never liked the Pamela effect which placed blame on his father, in typical 21st Century take on all people’s backgrounds. My father walloped me when I was naughty in the 50s and 60s. Now it’s abuse. I love Billy and hopefully modern medicine can keep him going as long as he wishes.❤
Always wondered why on a lot of videos the sound cuts out! why let it go out if it is incomplete it does spoil the enjoyment for people who are great fans⁉️⁉️⁉️
I would also like to know the artists he invited himself to work with. I love Billy Connolly, hes such a forward thinking awesome fucking funny dude, what a discoverer and author of the what ever the . It has been an attention bond for myself and im sure many, this guy is a fart and a king of ppl. Wish him and my old man could meet, they would not be comfortable, but leave a couple of old hippy well built in life glaswegians together 🤦♂️🙏🤣🧡 so cool and just not but totally simply cool
Why the hell they didn’t just use the frankly awesome painting of Billy in his denim flares by John Byrne, instead of some of the shite on here (Beige Billy & Clown Billy) just blows my mind! 🤯
When they put your portrait on the wall make sure it's plum level and not making you square .then a man can say that's me I'm well hung at last. 😁 Billy will get that . Anyone that built anything will.
Yeah, if you're doing that that well by 80 years old, what's the point of quitting smoking? Enjoy yourself, you're about to go anyway and trying to desperately extend your last few years will only lead to torment.
If the missing audio is for copyright reasons how could they add captions. That's the responsibility of RUclips, so it's not a lazy upload.Anyway it's free, quit whining.
Billy Connolly a son of Scotland and a gift to the world ❤️🙌
Wait, Billy Connolly is from Scotland?
@@KazeNoTaniFarmHakuba 😂🤣
True, true, true. He’s a philosopher with a sense of humour. That’s the best way to philosophise.
I live near Morecambe and every summer the factories and shipyards would close for two weeks, the vast majority of Glaswegians would decamp to Morecambe. God bless them. It’s good to see a meaningful kiss on the lips for two old friends.
The greatest comedian……..ever.
I've been a fan of Billy my whole life. It will be a sad day when he leaves us. The world needs Billy Connolly.
He'll always be the Big Yin!

John Burn was such a handsome hunk and a beyond brilliant human. What skill and humanity.

This is a gem. Thank you, Alan.
He's the big yin!
celebrities come and go but Billy has been a constant in my life since the late 70s. I wish I could thank him personally.
If you tried he would probably set the police on you.
I am so happy I lived in this world that had Billy Connolly in it too. Patty
Yea me too.
Don’t really know why the No of views is so low for someone who is loved so much, bless you Billy
🙏🙏🙏❤️
The reason the number of views are low is because of the large number of sickening comments you find all Billy sites on RUclips.
Ag man, in tears at the end of this. Such a beautiful human being
Whenever the burden of life gets a bit heavy, I switch Billy on and my spirit gets lifted again. He and George Carlin are the two greatest ever stand-up comedians ever. Pure genius.

I saw at the China Fleet Club in Hong Kong many years ago . He swore non-stop for a couple of hours.
So that was his set. He swore non-stop for 2 hours.
I don’t know if these tears I’m crying are from laughing or just from love. I don’t care.
Love and laughter
Same here. I think both. 6 years ago I hardly knew him. Only the movies he graced. Then I found him on utube. I watch everything I can find.

I dont think its any reason to stop because of a number ,, hmmmmm i agree whole heartedly thats why in my later year's in life im still surfing
For all the times I have watched and enjoyed Tutti Frutti, I never knew that it was written by John Byrne

Why does the sound go on and off? Is it because they're saying something that the BBC doesn't want you to hear?
Why does the audio keep coming in and out ?!
Lots of comments on that but I am not having any issues . Perhaps copyright in some countries ?
2017...
The sound went off.
Billy is a Scottish legend but a national treasure to England, he's an amazing comic and everyone should check out his stand up 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I presume John Byrne is speaking English, but I can't understand a word he says. Fantastic documentary nevertheless.
