I had the Andy Howell deck around 1990...it was one of the first boards to have a slight nose tail. ☺ Kids watching this streetskating video today may not be impressed, but a lot of these tricks were brand new at the time :) And no, the world wasn't black and white, it was much more colorful than today. 🤙
Yeah. Andy was an early pioneer of nollie and switch skating. Switch didn't really catch on until 92 really but he filmed his part in 91. Its why he had fairly big noses on his board before many caught on. I remember at first the board would be double drilled to give option of bigger nose, slightly. I bet not many opted for smaller nose. Fairly quickly double drilled disappeared. Great time to skate. When nose got big opening a whole new world and new tricks, and Nollie and switch. It was exciting. I had friends who gave up at that point, which I couldn't believe. Why? just when it's getting developed and prgressed and morphing into craziness. His part has some crazy switch tricks in.
wow, looking at some of these ignorant comments...you obviously must belong to this current young generation of skaters who have no regard for the history of your own art. Andy Howell is one of the biggest technical influences of all time. One of the first to popularize and innovate switch-stance skating. He brought tons of hip hop swagger to the sport during a time when it was mostly punk. His nollie and switch lines were unconceivable back then. BTW this footage was all filmed in 1991.
@@patrickyoung9781 but I want to know is where did the sample come from? I remember it being an r n b/pop/soul or something song in the 90's it came from. been lookin 4 some time now.
It's called The Sound Lil Put Down by AH's own music project 'The Mafioso'. Good luck trying to find it online though, I've looked loads of places and it doesn't seem to be available anywhere...
Is it the sample u like, da horns, etc. Andy Howell sampled it from some r n b/pop/soul song in the 90's. I recall it back in high school, been lookin 4 it some time now, cant find it. Anyone knows?
@@MTCBKK Its called Art, Skateboarding and Life. My dad got it for me but I was homeless for a while and it got molded in my tent. Miss the book alot. Andy is an awesome guy and its an amazing read.

And our crew loved punk as well. Andy was our OG and definitely an innovator. He progressed sour skateboarding and the culture!
Andy was rad.
To see his genius bludgeoned by the filming was painful. Like, for instance, that noseslide.
Awesomeness cool yeeeeaaahhhh!!!!
91 92 best skate days
I just watched his nine club
At the time, I never realised how much switch stuff there was. So sick.
It’s been 31 years; this aged well. I also thought Guy invented the switch Ollie to nose grind to revert, but lookie here
I'm not sure who filmed this. But thank you. Had a few clips of me in there.
what is the song! 'compound fracture.. technics scratcher' dope!
It's called 'The Sound Lil' Put Down' by Andy's own group called The Mafioso... doesn't seem to be available anywhere though.
