Ha! I'd first need source material. :) I have a ridiculously complicated project I've had in mind for years and am getting close to getting to work on it. That's all I'll say at the moment, though I think when it's done and out there, I'll probably be put away. :)
I remember watching live at five always hoping Letterman was going to pop in. What now passes as late night entertainment television in comparison is a joke. Looking forward to the next video.
Well I've now lived long enough to see a TV figure that makes Abe Vigoda seem like an scintillating dynamo. Just kidding. I'm sure he's the life of the party. Cool production here, Mr. Giller! Thanks for sharing it!
The former studio where Johnny Carson broacasted the Tonight Show in the NYC years. (1962-1970). Then became the WNBC news studio, now it is the Jimmy Fallon studio. What is really interesting is the Fallon studio is set up almost exactly as the old Carson set up, with the home desk in almost exactly the same space.
Appreciated! I aimed the matching point on the first "n" on the second line of the #1 item from the Top Ten list ("nothing..."). Because they're different videos, I knew they wouldn't sync exactly throughout, but with that point matched, it was just a matter of the "sync" catching up to that point. If that makes any sense. Also had to figure out how to get the audio in their respective L-R positions. This would all probably be very simple and straightforward if I knew what I was doing. :)
Was there an inside joke to the “home office” in the NBC years? I remember at CBS the home office started in Sioux City because they were the only CBS affiliate that wasn’t showing the Late Show at all in the beginning, and then it moved to Grand Rapids, and then someone paid for it to move to their little town, and then the joke was dropped.
Every new year the mock home office was moved to a new mock site. There was no rhyme or reason other than either someone in the audience suggesting a new site during the pre-tape Q&A with Dave, or a Viewer Mail letter likewise suggesting a new site.
Before they became synced, this gave my brain a fun workout of processing both audio sources. Reminded me of watching the show live (and without a DVR) when I'd have to delicately balance 10% of my brain power to listening to my girlfriend flap her trap while most of my CPU was processing Dave's input stream.
Ha! Just checking out Don Pardo and Art Flemming "Jeopardy!" Stuff and here I am on Don Gillers channel again! Jeezy measey. (Interesting side note, looked up jeasey measy on Google to try to find the correct spelling but the current culture has cured this out of consideration. "Are you following Jesus or MEsus? And several entries about a Rapper that is neither young, nor Jesus like, nor...a rapper, was all I could find.) "Don Pardo, what do they win?"
Jack doesn't seem to know how to respond to Letterman's off the wall and impromptu comedy. I wonder how Sue would have done interviewing him--attempting to interview him,
Brilliant presentation of both shows. Thank you!
Brilliant idea to do this on split screen.
Well done.
Shows mutually enhancing each other's value..... great job!
Kudos to Jack, who handled Dave well, like a master actually. Well done. Excellent interviewer. They had great chemistry.
Beautiful Don! Lots of different angles/camera shots! mind-boggling.
Masterfully done. Great to see Sue completely broken down to the bones there at the end.
NICELY EDITED, DON. Bravo!
Thanks, Tom. From you, that's high praise. :)
The concept was simple enough. Execution, not so much.
Ahh ya made it look easy. Feel free to throw a complicated project my way anytime. Maybe next you can do the same for Carson / CPO Sharkey, ha.

Great to see both sides of this. Good job on putting it together.
Thanks!

David Letterman is an institution. Brilliant TV . what a master.

great stuff!
8:19 Sue Simmons - :The f#$k are you doing?" lol
Dave was so awesome!

1972 is when Johnny permanently took the show to California.
There can't be whole lot of variations on a theme.
Fallon is a poor excuse to try to replicate Carson.
Brilliant
amazing! one of the best letterman videos i have ever seen! thank you very much!
Thank you! That's very kind.
Well done and interesting.
Cool!! Great job!
This shit ain't easy. :)
excellent job on the sync.

Two thumbs up
Distinct proof of what an utterly pious, childish, uber political embarrassment late night TV has devolved into in 34 years. This was brilliant.
Nobody could touch Letterman during this era.
Like how you sync them. Footage on the right looks better

@@dongiller Happy that my hometown of Milwaukee was the very first one
Is there a “Dave harassing Live at Five” compilation?
Not yet.

Hopefully you listened with stereo speakers, as the two sources are on opposite sides.
lol kisses Al Roker's hand
Princess Die... weird
When did Jack Cafferty leave WNBC-TV Live At Five in February 1989?
Live at five set used to be and now the set of the tonight show?
Yes, was once Johnny Carson's studio when he broadcast from NYC, and now Jimmy Fallon's studio.

Hot ones brought me over here to...

Now we know which NBC affiliate this was on. WNBC Channel 4, National Broadcasting Company O&O in New York. 😌😂
