      @@armobyzantine5881 I'm not sure if you're asking if the engine can literally resist being shot. They are largely imported to South America in the used vehicle grey market and are renowned for their reliability. You can get them with many different engines but the one I have experience with had a 1-KD 3l diesel. The last time I drove it was 7 years ago when it had over 500,000km on it. My cousin is still using it as a delivery van in rural Venezuela. Running on low quality fuel, with low quality oil in the engine, on low quality roads.

    Had a 2020 at my last job that squealed out of the lot. Dealer refused to look at it and gave the bullshit about the brakes needing to “break in”. Well at 3k I blew my brake lines on a bridge and almost crashed. Turns out they forgot to it failed to install a rear inside driver side pad. Metal on metal for 3k Now at my new job just had an alternator fail and leave me with no power steering or brakes going 50.

    I own my own 2016 Transit 350, I am a courier so this van gets a hard life. It is stop start all day with over 100 deliveries over 120 miles per day. I have covered 75000 in 2 years and the only problem I have had was a faulty fuel filler which corrected itself and a worn out wheel bearing and drive shaft which ford replaced under warranty. I previously owned a Vauxhall Movano which I liked but had way more issues. I would buy another Transit without question. I'm sorry not every one has been so lucky with theirs.

    The Transit has a use intended. It's got great gas millage and great power. General use is for light duty camper van's and casual use. For heavy duty abusive lack of care use such as construction it will not shine. The Econoline is still made and not promoted as the Transit is the go to. The Transit is a high maintenance machine. The engine needs strict oil change intervals. The brake shoes are 1/2 the size of the Econoline and wear quick. Drive shaft problems are common. So if you choose the Transit thinking you are getting a modern Econoline you are mistaken. This is a high maintenance van that you need to keep strict track of the service intervals. If you don't the van will let you know. Order an Econoline and you will continue to run it hard with drivers that don't care.

      These vans have a higher rear brake ratio than normal. Usually it's 60-70% front braking but these vans have most rear braking power so u will go thru rear brakes morw than front, no problems, just how it was set up. And because no dummy light, I always keep an extra rear set at home when I do hear that horrible grinding noise.

    I purchased a 2017 Ford Transit High roof Extended van with 60,200.00 mile from a leasing company here in Cincinnati. I wanted a nice big work van for my company. I just love how it looks with my company logo. It looks really nice and I get a lot of compliments on the van. However, it has been in the shop since the day I brought it home rom the dealer. I thought to my self that I shouldn't have too many major mechanical issues with relatively low mileage vehicle, just out of warranty...only by 200 miles. My other non Transit cargo vans go at least 200k no problem.
    It all started with a ticking noise from the engine...Back and forth for weeks, 2 different Ford dealerships and eventually a new engine. $7800 later and I bring it home and the cargo lights are stuck on and won't go off. So I'm pulling fuses at midnight!
    Ok the lights are minor and I am rolling again. 3rd day after the engine and now it broke down again. This time some sort of fuel sending issue. Now bear in mind that every time the Transit breaks I have to move all of my tools and massive plumbing inventory, which tales about 1 1/2 hours. Not to mention I broke down at 5:30 Pm tonight and didn't get home until 11:30 Pm after the second attempt to get a tow! I hate this van!!! If you must get a Transit buy new with extended 100k warranty. Also, make sure if your a contractor you have a reliable back up vehicle...How Sad!!

    Be careful with your goods inside the van overnight. Drivers door lock is made of cheese and easily opened with pliers. It is like leaving your van unlocked. I had to pay extra to a specialist company, just to have my doors secured. I live in UK and it is a big problem here. Tools do go quick if you give criminals a chance.

    I own a 2017 Ford Transit 250 cargo van (medium height & length), regular V6. From day one there were rear axle gremlins. It's been in the shop FIVE times at Ford for these issues: "Spider gears," rebuilding the axle, etc. All under warranty.
    I currently have 189K miles strictly interstate driving hauling expediate freight in every imaginable weather. The driver's seat squeaked like a sailing ship. Ford replaced it. Two different shops refuse to work on the rear brakes when the time comes.
    The rear wheels now have a rubbing sound when turning but recently passed a strict D.O.T. test. Any ideas on this issue?
    As for getting rid of it.... Mercedes is insane in repair costs. GMC and Chevy are still trying to figure out how to prevent paint from flaking off and the Nissan NV 2500? isn't long enough.
    The Transit replaced my '08 Ford E-250 Econoline cargo van with 645K but never had these issues. I miss it.
    I come ftom a Ford family but I swear I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD AGAIN! I hope corporate reads this. Consider yourself warned. Good luck.

    Our rear window on 2017 Ford Transit campervan spontaneously exploded yesterday while I was laying down (it about gave me a heart attack). Luckily we have custom magnetic window blinds because my face was about a foot from the window. Ford has been incredibly irresponsible about covering the replacement of the defective window, even though we provided pictures and a video shortly after it exploded with the sound of the glass continuing to crack. Good luck

    • @Gonewithjon
      @Gonewithjon  3 года назад

      That's nuts. What was the temperature when this happened? Was it just one window?

    • @functionalvanconversion4284
      @functionalvanconversion4284 3 года назад +1

      It was really bizarre sound, feeling and experience. 65 degrees, but it was sunny so the window did feel hot. The strange the window has a ladder on it with an emergency gas can on it (which is empty) so it's more shielded from the sun (so you would figure it would stay cooler).
      Also noticed that the new window has a much smaller gap between the window and the inside sheet metal frame, so it looks like the older window is very slightly coming of the metal of the van (new window gap 1/8" and old window gap 5/16") on the center where both doors latch together. I have read that Ford F-150 trucks have sun roofs that shatter spontaneously as well as the rear windows because the defroster mechanism turns on and stays stuck on. Whatever it is I think I should expect windows should not shatter on their own. We were somewhat fortunate to be around to witness it otherwise we'd be wondering if someone did it. We were going to take a nap and then go on a hike......really 😦. Ford may help us out with the window, but will see....

      @@Gonewithjon After countless hours of arguing with various Ford representatives and escalating to a supervisor (not a positive experience) Ford has agreed to reimburse us for the windshield. We were fortunate that we were present when it exploded (unlucky if our blind wouldn't have caught the glass dust) as we were able to get a video and pictures showing the window intact and cracking. The service manager also agreed the window was defective (he gave us the printout he submits to Ford Motor company). The window shop who replaced the window also verified that there was glass to metal contact on the previous window. Be prepared to argue and record the conversations with people as you will get various reasons as to why they want to not own up to the defect.
      Our new window is no longer flush with the other window by over 1/8" which according to the window shop is because the other window also is likely to have glass to metal contact and could explode spontaneously as well. Our rear van door also ended up with scratches from the glass as we were told to contain as much of the glass on our way to the dealership.

    I have a 2016 ford transit (350 XLT 15psgr w/upgraded radio large touch screen display/nav) with no issues what so ever. Had one check engine light issue only to realize the ECM was getting wet under the hood because the plastic gutter was out of place. Shop vacuumed it dry replaced the gutter and allowed the system to recalculate on it's own and the light went out on it's own as well. NO other issues. I am aware of the recall on the driveshaft issue not cool but at least Ford is on top of it and haven't had the issue as predicted. One of the issues is that the vans you guys are getting are stripped down economy cargo vans. Cheap radios, etc. And to all who love the split side doors, even the old E vans in time will leak in heavy rain. Sliding door is the way to go. And with all that being said if you guys are putting, I believe you said 40K miles a year on it...how are they cared for, what are you'll putting in the vans, what environments are you taking the vans(construction sites...)? So much small and unseen damage happens to vehicles at construction sites...wholes in body, doors bent and no longer line up with seals or seals torn or punctured, etc. In defense of the older E vans they had drip rails and these new ones don't. Bottom line I just don't think the Ford Transit van is up to the needs of your company not that the vans are that bad.

      @@tomh6779 Ford HAS "fallen from grace." A perfect example is the new Explorer, which has had numerous problems, to the point of having to ship newly produced vehicles to another factory where the extensive defects are being repaired (properly, hopefully). Ford, repeatedly, cannot seem to produce a new model without numerous issues. Another is the "Powershift" transmission fiasco, with inherent, unfixable issues that the company lied about for years, while continuing to sell it (exposed by the Detroit Free Press). Ford is not alone in this matter, but they definitely have serious quality problems.

    My 2017 Transit 250 diesel high top extended with 11,000 miles has had a major electrical failure with the High Speed Communication bus. This failure is connected to all the vehicle modules to the ECM. So far, the first dealer couldn't fix it in 4 days. Transferred to the second dealer who had it for 26 days and finally got all the multiple OBDII codes off. Well, that lasted for 10 days. Now, after having it towed into the dealer (trans won't shift) and setting 9 different OBDII codes, it has remained at the dealer for the past 30 days and counting. After the dealer was guessing that the ABS module was bad, it took over a week to get another one. Then mechanic stripped the brake lines reconnecting the module and now it waits for a new ABS hyd block. Of course, there are none in the US and it's on back order. Now, the dealer really doesn't know if the ABS was bad, doesn't know when he can get another part and can't tell me when I can get the van back. The only positive part of this is I got a new 2019 F150 as a loaner.

On a positive note, Ford must have fixed all those issues because I bought a 2017 ford transit 350xlt, I put 1500 miles\week, currently have 86000 miles after 14 months and havent had a single issue. Not a single issue. I do replace the rear brakes every 3 months or so because I haul 15 ppl and\or haul horses and other 16 foot trailers. Imho, this thing is the BEST, contrary to yours, commercial vehicle ive ever owned. You must have a dud or the first 2 years of this van had many bugs that finally have been worked out. Better luck. If I had to recommend a good van. It would be the Chevy Express cargo van. Those are known to last you a long time. These Transits aren't built very well. Even in 2019 they still have problems and wear down way faster than what a Ford Econoline or Chevy Express would have.

    • @phoenixeagle462
      @phoenixeagle462 5 лет назад +1

      @@Gonewithjon They are the best so far as work vans and passenger vans go. 2019 and Chevy is still actually manufacturing the Express. I don't think they will cease production of it anytime soon. Supposedly they want to cease production of the Express and replace it with a European style van in 2023 God forbid. But I doubt it. Many companies still rely on the Express to conduct their business services. Along with the GMC Savana (Chevy's twin van) thats very reliable. Never had any issues with the engine and alternator as far as things go the 3 years I had mine. GM's twin vans in my opinion will take abuse more severely than what a Ford Transit could ever dare take. Much worse is the Ford Transit Connect (a Transit minivan) 2010 to 2013... box body, 2.0 litre engine, 4 cyl engine, 136 hp.... um yea... Prius territory. Simply put, the only European style van in America that is worthy to be called the best van and will last you a long time is the Mercedes Benz Sprinter. Only problem with that is it's higher value. Higher maintenance costs and the cost of the vehicle itself... being a Mercedes of course.
      I wanted to get one some time ago but my friend kept insisting I get the GMC instead of a Sprinter because of 5 things. Lower maintenance costs, the 341 hp vs the 188 of the Sprinter, and the 31 gal tank as opposed to the 22 gal of the Sprinter, v8 instead of a 4 cyl or v6 of the Sprinter, and 8,900 pounds towing capacity. Sprinter only does like 6,000 I think. But Ford Transit.... it's a piece of garbage. Ford does far better on their trucks than they do their vans. Point of the story. Dont get the Ford Transit Connect. It's the worst van of all.

U.S. 2015 was voted worst overall, 12 recalls, drivetrain, powertrain fuelpump, etc...shakes at 60-70mph. 2016-2017 also tons of recalls. 2018, not so much but Ford still can't get it together. I understood this was the number one van in europe but US cant get out of their own way. I have dealers literally lying about the recalls trying to resell the transits on the lots. Electronics has ruined our lives, particularly our cars. Unless you are a geek with time on your hands, modern electronic everything has just made life more difficult. Most people don't need hundreds of options that we are forced to go through and then program just to turn on a car radio.
    In the old days it was a ten second operation to press an on/off button, turn a knob to get your desired radio station, then another knob to adjust the volume. So how have electronics made life easier? We don't need car radios that can be used from everything from a cardiac defibrelator to an electron microscope!
    And linking a mobile phone to your car audio system.... Forget it! Just use your phone for sending and receiving phone calls.
    Of course if you grow up dependent on your smart phone, lose it and you will be incapable of breathing without your life support system! You will have to learn to talk to people instead of texting!
    Then of course if your car breaks down you can't get it fixed on the side of the road. You have to get it towed to the USS Enterprise Star Fleet workshops to get it started.
    Life was really much simpler and more enjoyable 50 years ago.
    And then there are Fords.................................

    Anyway the next problem could be a smashed head: when you have to stop immediately and the whole crap from the back will fly into you: get some wall between seats and cargo space. In europe cargo van without this wall cannot be on the road. This is dangerous even if you carry only small items.

      I have thought that 100 times. Maybe 1000. It would be the last problem with it

    Got the A plan thru my brother; was going to get a Connect. Nothing but bad reviews on Fords. NO FORD FOR ME...even with a discount. Bought a 99 Econoline from the factory....warranty up and trouble started. I should know better to think Ford.

    Not being able to turn off prompts is indeed annoying. Yes, I know 911 is turned off, I'm the one that turned it off.

    My opinion, your anyi Ford
    I biught my 2015 transit new, 80k later its been virtually trouble free. I traded up from a Mercedes 07 sprinter that was a nightmare. So go buy your company a sprinter, and see what junk really is

    • @Gonewithjon
      @Gonewithjon  4 года назад

      We have 11 Mercedes sprinter vans I think they've had a problem or two out of those also. I think it's all subjective everybody's going to get a bad one every now and again

    Why is so much of your video focused on issues with connecting your phone to the radio? Who cares? I leave my radio on one station and never touch the radio. I really don't think that matters to the commercial industry that much.

    Never buy the first two years of any new model. Number 1 rule never buy the first two years of a new model because it takes them that long to get the bugs and faults out. Our 18 model doesn't drip.

    I have a work van bad breaks ford transit in the shop two times for the back breaks

    I was neutral about transit, but after i saw what it withstood in the Hands, of one heartless son of a bitch, that neglected all imaginable services, i hail transit all day every day! Ford transit, mk6, 2001 model. Yes, it rusts, but that can be dealt with. Thanks ford!

    These Transits are pieces of shit. Mine's a year old and the ford supplied bottle jack won't jack up the van to change the tire. For your Sync chime on startup, select it to utilize 911 and it will quit saying that annoying stuff on every startup.

      Guff City Rollers finally someone else who understands. I have had haters for this video who seem to have no idea about these vans . Mine was "fixed" but still leaks water everytime it rains. Lots of water

      My company invested in these vans, but now has switched to the Chevy Express vans. The Transits look good on paper, but fail in the real world. I had a '16 before my '17 and the throttle body went out on me during rush hour on I-65. Terrible quality. Almost caused me to have a horrible accident from a total loss of power. Tell your haters to suck one.
