Div, I just found your first video, but I've been watching for about a year. Teaching younger people is a wonderful thing. I think I'm a couple years older than you and have taught all three of our sons about most everything mechanical, having been wrenching and welding on stuff since I was 10. I still pick up a tip or two watching your videos. And my wife enjoys watching too. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
I find your words touch the heart . To share your skills is important we work our hole life lurning tricks to make it easier then know one seems to care our children go off and start the process over again. Oh well i watch you share your experiences with the world while i drive around in circles cleaning parking lots lol got to stay awake somehow . Apreasheate your time and wisdom thanks

I just watched this clip for the first time. And your comments about sharing skills, tips etc is valid for me. You know I have a very small, random, channel as well, and if you look, you will see my builds are cheap. I guess being a South African the genetic drive to save has stayed. I have described my cars and builds being from the cheaper end of the market and also being the “Bottom Feeders” And even if I could afford shine, it is not really my thing. Your channel certainly is a brilliant resource. Thanks as always.
Thank you for the intro. Just also found your channel. I am here in the outback of Oregon, USA so I am not close to any big towns to buy stuff. Enjoy and learning from you. Don Hippy
Thank you for sharing your skills and teaching others, it’s the way the world should be again, bring back the “lost arts “ Convenience equals laziness after a short time and I’ll be the first one to admit it, mail ordered parts are easy to get in the states but seems anyone can do that but knowing how to make your own stuff, that is priceless as they say. Keep up the teaching and passing it down as it should be done! Like your style of teaching brother.
This is a terrific intro video. I’m going back in time to catch up with you. Dif, I’m fully on the journey with you. Keep it rolling brother. Thanks for all this. Your values are aligned with the good and thoughtful. And I hope you start making money of this soon. Cause that’s nice too! 👍😊😊

I'm not into ratrods that much but what you do is very interesting and educational. I have a 69 plymouth valiant that I bought new and have done my modifications to drive train and just cruise it
Heya Diff well done on the videos I am a new subscriber and I love your videos and even got my dad watching and we both subscribed 😀. I am not much of a ratrodder but I love them and love old things and getting old cars going again. my Dad had many ford's when I was a child mom had vw beetles in my teens we moved here to SouthAfrica. I was blessed to work with old cars jags old Austin's A110s A 99 ... and ford's escorts and such.. as I got older got my licence got a little R 5 Renault as my daily driver from that I moved to old w123 mercedes 300D... I currently still have that cars engine in another old merc still going. keep up the awesome work .. I know how frustrating it can be as a South African not been able to get bits and other parts to help complete a build.
Look forward to more videos. Have already watched most of ur post. Would like to see the story of ur black truck, ( tow truck ) love the front end. Good luck with the channel.
You’re doing a great job spreading your knowledge. Very creative ideas, with your builds and your videography. As for English being your second language, you seem to know it very well. I’m super impressed with your use of the language, and find it hard to believe that it’s not your primary language!
Hi First before I forget could you spell your name out cant quite work it out :( I found this channel while searching to find out how i can make my 47 year old Dodge Van paint look 47 years old? I came into the "Crackpot Series" half way through and love it 😉 Its a funny old world but the van didn't work out for me,you know when you just don't gel with a vehicle and its time to move it on 🙄 I really like your Mantra everything is handed to people on plates these days we've forgot how to make do and mend. I live in the UK and like you I think the Americans don't appreciate how easy it is to get stuff I see all these paint jobs being done in USA with large boxes of cheap Rustoleum from wall mart over here its not so easy to get and when you do its limited and what we pay for one car they can buy 5-6 cans. I am hoping to do my last project soon, sadly my health has caught up with me. I have one shiny classic but that's my last, when I did it I almost regretted doing it right away and mourn the way it was before I started😪 Shiny Paint Causes Stress! Too Right! Also though I am not knocking the work professional painters do paint jobs have just become way too expensive! It no longer makes sense to paint a car for more than the car will ever be worth. Rat rods are strange over here in UK there are two camps, kids getting perfectly good cars and stripping off good paint and destroying perfectly good daily drivers, and old classic that would just cost too much to restore so like you they make do and mend. I don't and don't think I ever will understand why the kids buy a mint 10 year old VW Mercedes or BMW and destroy it just for a look? At first I hated rat look but there's two rat scenes rat look plus real old rat roads like you do and now I get Rat Rods😁 You fix broken abandoned barn finds on a budget make them interesting and give them a second lease of life, the other scene don't get me started on that one its just a waste 🤔 Love the way you make stuff you cant get,you fix stuff you make do and mend, never a dull moment. I don't want to undo my shiny classic its done now but that was the turning point for me I am getting too old for polishing stuff we don't know how much longer we have real cars before we are forced into mobile washing machines 😡 So lets just enjoy the drive and take up your Mantra and forget the paint thanks for your time, your knowledge id settle for chasing monkeys off the roof any day than be stuck in this modern dictatorship. Love what your doing Jo
Hi Jo. Thanks for the compliments! My name is Div, pronounced diff, that part in the back of the car 😅 Really enjoyed your comments, we think along the same lines! Except one thing: never say LAST project! it might be, it might not be... There's too much finality in that! Best is just the NEXT project 😃 Nice to hear from the UK. Take care, hope we chat again.
great vid DIF the rat rod Culture is derived from making do with what you have. The idea that you can make a vehicle to do what you want it to from old discarded parts. some of the best rat rods i have seen were built around some oddball part or motor and then just got out of hand. The fact that you must make your parts out of necessity just makes for better rat rods. show me what you've got! Al from Canada
Thanks Al! That's part of my definition of rat rods too: fun, low budget, traditional, rusty street rod, built with junk yard parts and built to drive! Not just a show piece. I see many $20k plus builds that are called rat rods, but they dont qualify in my humble opinion. Greetings to Canada! You have some great people there!

I suspect it just looks like its easy for everyone in America to get stuff, but it may be harder than it appears. Some folks have lots of money, and even then they often have to spend time looking for the parts, the rest of us struggle to afford parts, and we have to look for parts in recycling and thrift shops and even on the side of the road for parts. Its both a blessing and a curse in that you cant always get what you want, but sometimes you find things that give you ideas about how you can use it in your design. The important thing is that you have fun with it, while you are building it, and after you build it.
