- Taryl finally found time to make his custom mower lift from pieces he received and has had laying around the shop. With his ingenuity and a few small purchases, for around $100, he was able to make this here mower lift. Works pretty good too. Perfect for those pesky shop pests that come around, like Slippers. This is exactly my kind of build. Wheels off old tractors, cables off discarded jumper box, discarded battery box, scrap metal and a Harbor Freight winch to top it off. The "barn" cover is a nice touch. I mounted a HF winch to my converted boat trailer & just used a bucket to protect it, been several years & still ok. For a sling I used seat belts that I cut out of a car that was scraped.
Enjoyed the video.
Stay safe, Joe Z
I love the basic idea of this useful piece of equipment. Having said that, I get the feeling that it needs bracing so that the legs don't splay out after prolonged use or very heavy loads. Stay safe and add some bracing.
Gussets needed.
be great for workin on trucks the way slippers is set up,
Sweet, love the red, white, blue color scheme. You deserved this rig, way to go.
Hey that is a well-made hoist you got there. Now you've inspired me to make my own. Thanks a lot. Keep up the good work I love you show.
Stanley Brand please put some gussets on all the legs in the x and y axis so the legs don’t do the splits and drop a lawnmower on top of you... this guy is careless and not even concerned with his own safety, so don’t put your safety in the hands of this moron...
Awesome job on the lift and really like the color and the barn cover is nice touch
Pretty ingenious work smart not hard. Glade to see you keep slippers hanging around
I would triangle off the corners. That’s a lot of leverage there
I would have made a "A" frame much stronger less weight. Strength in triangles. Awesome Taryl. There's your dinner!
Those are called gussets and aren't needed because the weight is vertical and spread out by all four tubes.
Dude that thing is BADASS! Love the color scheme too!
good job! can't wait for the ultimate table lift!
Love that lift, comes very handy for all types of jobs
Great job Taryl. Very nice lift. Wait till Slippers sees this
Wow, that turned out really nice......I know when I was there last, you were telling me about how you were gonna build it, and I had the idea in my head, but, like how you added the steering and battery box.....just as a tip, don't leave that winch hooked up to a battery for an extended period, unless you keep it charged, because I had the same exact one on a quad, and it drains the battery because it's always drawing a current ( because the wireless receiver is always looking for a signal from the remote ). On a table lift, get the Harbor Freight motorcycle one, and a air over hydraulic jack/ram, and widen the table.......I have the table, and widened mine, just need to do the jack/ram part.
Awesome set up....Thank you for video. Blessings to you.
Man... that`s real slick Taryl. I gotta rig one up for my shop. Thanks for showing us your ideas.
thats gonna make life easier for sure, great job
I like the Red, White, and Blue paint job!
Wow, I am really proud for you, if anyone deserves to have this type lift, it is you. Congratulations. 🎉🎊🎈🍾
Very nice lift Taryl !!
Excellent build Taryl well done !
Buitiful job taryl I like how portable it is.
Nice job Taryl: Consider a 6 inch corner brace (gusset) on the upper corners of the lift for support so that a heavy load won't cause the legs to spread. Great video's. Many thanks.
I was just going to say the same thing.
@@SteveRHanson I'm surprised that he didn't think of that. Looks dangerous with a bigger mower.
Spot on.
Those are probably the only legs to spread around Taryl! : ;)
Brilliant video thank you 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
simply fantastic . thanks
Nice Work T.D.
Super cool! Changing the fluid in my John Deere trans right now thanks to your videos. Thanks from Tulsa.
That thar is pure genius, Cuz. Looks like Ol' Slippers is really gettin' up in the world.
I had a similar winch capable of handling of handling loads similar to yours but I added a snatch block and hooked the cable back at the top. It slowed the speed down to half which cut down on the herky jerky. Also a spreader bar comes in handy, maybe 48" with hooks spread across it. Keeps the straps from snagging on things and the spreader keeps enough weight on the cable to wind up neater and lower better.
That's a nice rig Taryl great job
Looks awsome taryl
Taryl you constantly amaze me!
Good edition to your shop. Year after year the cold concrete is hard on man. It’s red, white and blue to boot. I love Yankee ingenuity. Good job
Very cool Taryl I love the paint job to ,Excellent work
thank you taryl. your the best.
Nice work Taryl!
Nice job on the lift. Be safe. Peace🇺🇸
That is a well thought out lift and well worth building.
Nice work you all, keep it up!
Looks great! Nice job. Thanks for the video.
That's a great lift. It's going to save you time for working on the tractors. The wheels are great for outside and work great. The winch will work great and it's great because of the remote control for it. I have one from harbor freight the same one and use it in my shop or on a car trailer before making it easier. I love your videos I'm a mechanic and work on all kinds of things. I'm retired from the army so I enjoy your videos.
Great job Terrell thanks
Good work. I think your lift is very impressive.
I enjoyed watching you enjoying your lift! Nice work. Don't forget to fill Slippers mug sometime👍
Only issue I see is the uprights need gussets at the top to decrease the load at that joint, especially since the legs are all angled with wheels on them (increasing the loading at that joint). It would be no issue at all, if the frame were bolted to the floor. Nice job though.
I have a 500# capacity 110v hoist on a trolley on a beam in my garage. I love it- wonderful tool for tractors, bicycles, and showing the grand child how to make stuff go up or down.
Safety chain to the beam.
Mike
Poor slipper ! I like that ! Good job !
you done an excellent job on that , now that is a mower lift
Nice work Taryl
Looks good taryl be safe
Finally, a video with some balls to it..
Well done!
Nice job Taryl, that will come in very handy 👍
Taryl- You are a genius- well thought out and very versatile.
Awesome! Thank you.
"I've been making these little barns...". Classic!
Hey, just reading through the comments, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned bracing!
I love these guys
Nice Job Taryl 😀😊🧰
Great job on the gantry Taryrl it's perfect to pick up and move machines around and lifting equipment out of truck it will save you lot of back pain.
i made a lift similar to yours taryl. Used the same harbor freight 2500 winch. I recommend separating the spool and seeing how much grease is in the 'gearbox'. My winch growled loudly when lifting larger tractors / engines. There was NO GREASE in the planetary gearbox. Filled it up and got much quieter. Should be fine now.
Genius!!! I love it!
Love the colors. Very patriotic.
That's right,,I made mine like a crane lift 2 tons 20 foot and swing 360 remote control.on trailer..love it..used it to load unload,repair work.8 years ago and still works perfect..cost $450 total then,priceless now.
Great work Taryl! I might build one myself!
The ending was good!
Great setup
Taryl! You’ve done so much for so long with so little I believe that you can do almost anything with nuthin!
AWESOME!!!!!!!
Nice job sir!!!
Sweet lift!
This guy is a trip 👍👍😂😂
nice job taryl your craftsmanship pays off. I could send you pieces i have from an automotive scissor lift i have
Bravo Taryl. Good for you. Enjoy my friend.
You and I had the same idea about the harbor freight wench. But my idea, now I can see was flawed. I was thinking about a 4 post lift, that would go up far enough that I wouldn't have to bend over to get under even the deck. And there would be no runners between the front and rear tires. Just thick tubing holding the front tires. A the same for the back. All four posts would have one cable each, going up to join one cable, that's connected at the wench. No disconnecting the battery, or suddenly realizing the gas tank is cracked. Love what you do with the battery box though. And covering the wench and the electronics. I left mine out in the weather, cause it was supposed to be weather proof. But it's not.
Awesome taryl
Love the hacksaw Taryl and nice gantry crane. I'd like to glue a magnet on the back of that remote control.
Slipper and his wegy oh my, great job Terol
They say great minds think alike! I have the same setup in my little shed hanging from the rafters though! Works great, used it to remove my trans in my John Deere riding mower and I totally love it...lol
you’re a genius taryl 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻👍🏻
I like the lift wish I had one here at my garage
Now you need a lift table for lifting push mowers
I love it.
I've got a hoist that's really tall like that only you can lift car motors with it. My dad used it for our riding mower. My dad was 80 when he used it, he built the hoist from large diameter pipes, then painted them gun metal grey and welded them all together, to pull motors in the big wooden shop he designed and we built complete with all wiring and roofing. He's gone now and it's time to change blades again and my big belt broke 😳I've never done it but it looks really straight forward.
I'm very impressed
Fun for all
And eduvational
Thanks
Love it....I have one myself. You could also use it for those whining or non paying customers.
100K Subs man well done!
That lift is NASA quality 🤣🤣🤣def a shuttle launch pad.
Better actually, it wasn't founded by tax dollars and the mowers actually go somewhere.
Nice job. Made with stuff laying around. American Ingenuity.
They are very cool
Good job, Taryl. I made a lifting gantry from a section of swingset frame. The lifting is accomplished with a come-along and a piece of chain. It's not as sturdy as yours but it does work. I can get to the blades a lot easier now.
nice work on slippers
That is super cool! I have one of those winches on my utility trailer. And like others if my garage was big enough for something like that I would definitely build it but now I'm thinking have a smaller version just to pull engines and to left machines off the ground. Thank you for the inspiration!
nice i ordered it aint the space shuttle its a lawn mower zippy jacket and tera pump thanks taryl very awesome lift btw i love your creativity you need to mass produce those i would be your first customer on that for sure
Your the man taryle
Nice , I need one of these !!
Hey That’s sharp , engine puller and all. excellent engineering.
A Great Lift Idea!
I have been using lifts for a while and when you build yours dont pant the top, vary modular, add a winch to pull things up on it. Cant tell you how many times I pushed my lift to the wall because something didn't go up the ramp. Make sure the ramp is not smooth
Great lift taryl and a great place to store slipper. 😂
Good job!
PLease add a 3' long diagonal HSS (square tubing) welded all around to each top corner @45°.
Then take it outside and do a test lift of 1,000 lbs. VERY Important. That left rear axle on the 110 looks iffy....
the frames are fully welded, like a portal frame .
@@josephkaumo2352 A lot of weight without the load on it. Nothing ties the base together which is already wider at the bottom than the top.
@@gordbaker896 missing the point to his video. He is lifting mowers not nasa rocket engines, cars, or trucks. And he doesn't fully suspend them
The advice makes sense, cheap security for a little effort i would tie it together it can’t hurt.
My thoughts exactly. Wouldn't hurt to add a little peace of mind. Don't want Taryl getting cleaned.
