I’m a new 82 yrs and I’m a lot like you. I live in Dickson , Tn. I really enjoy making my own tools when needed. Keep on enjoying and doing what keeps us going!
I've seen those built from pipe in all shapes and sizes but your foot pedal is on a whole new level of badass, that's pure genius, I love it,, awesome job on that whole thing and now I've gotta have one
😎👍🇺🇲 Truer words never spoken. "No matter how big your shop is. It's never big enough." I try to keep stuff mobile so I can shove it outside when I'm working on something. Cheers brother 👊🍺
I appreciate how you occasionally pretend to make mistakes so those of us who do mess up occasionally ourselves don't feel too bad about it and just fix whatever we did. Very nice looking tool, now I need one.😉
@ratrodsafrica I realize that, like it because you don't edit out things we all do from time to time. It's more enjoyable that way, to me anyway, because it's more real.👍
i don't wear gloves either, i also like making my own tools and being in the serenity of my shop. thank u for taking the time to make the tool. film and edit this video for us.
A very nice jobb😊, when you did that mesure error, i was smileing! It was me in a nutchell! Know day i always dubbel checking😅. Old man with alzaimer light 😂. Tanks 👍
I am a (64 yr old) newbie at sheet-metal and welding. THIS is the video I needed today. Thank you for making this.nI'd rather make the toll vs. buy it.
I too have built a few hot rods and do my own fabrication. That said, I can really appreciate what you have built and the quality you achieved. Great video man 👍
I’ve been interested in buying this planishing hammer in the USA and i was given a quote of $3000 and that was way beyond my pocket. Thumbs up for inspiring us now I’ll fabricate one for myself.
They crazy thing about the current world is that i could buy an entire planishing hammer with all the trimmings for LESS money than i’d have to pay for a local machinist to make JUST one or two of those dies you got made. What a beautiful thing you built. But that is just par for your course! Thanks as always for letting us hang out and watch. Can’t waIt to watch you using it!! 😊👍👍
No man, can't be! A cheap planishing hammer goes for around $250 -300, the better ones $1000 upwards. What kind of rates are they charging? I'm sure you'd be able to buy a set of dies online in your part of the world
@@ratrodsafrica cheap hammer with three dies is about $220. To get three dies made from scratch could easily be more in NY USA. A machine shop here would likely charge a rate that would make your head explode. Mine head explodes here all the time! 😊😆. Unless it comes from China, nobody here can afford ANYTHING! 🤮
What a fabulous build and a fantastic video. I've been looking at these but you may have just inspired me to make one for myself. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and ideas.
Dif, I was eagerly following on with your latest adventure as you are funny to listen to, as you abuse yourself when you make mistakes and admit when you stuff up in real time instead of editing out. That homemade foot pedal was a whole new level of genius and bush ingenuity brother, I hope RUclips is paying enough to keep building more Rods. Hope you have many, many more healthy years creating in the Forest. Have a Lakka day and a very Lakka life my brother. Best wishes from Oztrailia. 👍👍👍
Excellent build! Never thought of making one of those, but now maybe I can with the exception of the lathed parts I’m sure the rest is very doable. Thanks for the inspiration. 👍👌
Div!!!!! This was a awesome project!!! Loved the turnbuckle for adjustment and the custom footpedal was frikkin sweet!!!! Your creativity and ingenuity are amazing!!!
Diff , Pushing down on the metal as you planish will speed up the process, I also like to make tools. I make a portable planishing hammer that can reach to the middle of a car roof. I made 1-1/4" junk pipe. It works great. Please keep making these great videos. Thank you sir!
I swear I’m not a sadist, but watching people deal with human mistakes makes a nice contrast. Thanks for not editing that part out. Also it was cool how the cuts made the C shape so nice. From Houston TX. God bless you.
It's awesome art brother !!!! Awesome morning brother from another country great to see you again !!!! Another awesome adventure as always great craftsmanship brother It's awesome pray yall have an awesome day
Thanks for many new ideas, I built one a few years ago when I made tanks and fenders for my chopper, now I see how I can improve my construction. Thank you from Northern Sweden
What a beautiful machine! I like it when utubers show their mistakes, rather than trying to make it look like their perfect.
Nobody is perfect, so it's just fakery 😅
The Master Craftsman, demonstrated how to create difficult, complicated structures, easily, very simple, using affordable tools available everywhere, yet very accurate.
Second time I have watched it completely.
I still enjoy watching the tool builds, one day I'll build one for myself

I appreciate how you occasionally pretend to make mistakes so those of us who do mess up occasionally ourselves don't feel too bad about it and just fix whatever we did. Very nice looking tool, now I need one.😉
Oh it's not pretend brother! No fakery here, it's for real. Everybody makes mistakes occasionally. 🙂

What a hoot Div. Really enjoy your presentation. Thanks man.
Glad you enjoyed it!🙂

Thanks for including your mistakes. We all make them but some want to pretend it never happens.
No mistakes means fakery! 🙂 Everyone makes them, the value and learning curve lies in how you recover from them!

@aceadman wow! Excluding the cost of the material, I paid ZAR 450, about $25 for the machining of 5 dies
Beautiful and very handy tool. Thanks Div.
You are welcome 🙂
