- From TikTok to The Wall Street Journal, the notion of “quiet quitting” has become the business alliteration du jour as leaders and employees alike wrestle with what the concept means and how it may affect ways of working in the future. Quit quitting is doing what’s in your job description - nothing less nothing more.
Hi! Can you explain me the differences between not engaged and actively disengaged workers, please? I don't understand why the second one are not part of the quiet quitters. Thank you!
From my perspective, actively disengaged workers aren't quiet. You know they are unhappy. They tend to be more vocal. You know they don't like their jobs, managers or the organization. They may be angry, upset, toxic, and/or not teamplayers. They may even discourage people from applying or coming to work from your organization. Someone who is quietly quitting is doing so discreetly and not negatively impacting the people around them.
Engaged
: These employees are loyal and psychologically committed to the organization. They are more productive and more likely to stay with their company.
Not Engaged:
These employees may be productive, but they are not psychologically connected to their company. They are more likely to miss workdays and leave the organization.
Actively Disengaged:
These employees are physically present but psychologically absent. They are unhappy with their work situation and insist on sharing this unhappiness with their colleagues
