With the reed in your mouth & positioned correctly you will generally blow out for most cow & bull sounds. I like contacting the latex on the reed with center of tongue, this gives me full control of sounds. ElkNut/Paul
Some gagging cannot be helped but a few, it's the way they are. For the most part though their reeds are too far back in their mouth, it needs to be brought forward. Too, use a narrow framed single reed, wide reeds do not fit most hunters & this is their biggest mistake. Look on our site & consider the Mellow Yellow single reed, this is for narrow pallets to average pallets. Thanks - ElkNut/Paul
