i swear, this has to be the most underrated song in the series. It brings to mind such an overwhelming sense of finality whilst maintaining such a strong sense of theme to the game. As I descended that crater, I was reflecting everything I endured to get to this point. that's power right there.
Axeman Cartoons I totally agree with you, this song marked my memories, as the final resolute step for cloud's team in the dephts of the planet towards the core of their quest.
Beautiful track! The addition of the choir is a fantastic touch. I'd like to think that it's Aerith's voice singing out to Cloud and the rest of her friends as they descend down into the Northern Crater to face Sephiroth.
The name of the song already brings a tragic and epic feel, a fight for the existence of life itself. The final day, the final hour, the final minute. Everything we know depends on the result of this act, it's all or nothing. We. Must. Win!
Amazing remake. I think this is one of the most underrated and overlooked songs in the OST; it really sums up that feeling of "and so it all comes down to this."
They should use this in the remake. This is one of my all time favourite FF tracks, easily the best final dungeon theme, and this may be the only alternate take which still captures the epic, magnificent, thrilling feel of the original.
Hi Pontus! I just purchased your full album after having fallen completely in love with every piece I've listened to so far (I haven't finished yet!). I saw your Patreon page and see what you are going for and I wanted to say something about your work. First, as a deeply devoted fan to FF7, it's story, characters, music, and themes of life and forgiveness, I am very peculiar in my tastes when someone arranges/orchestrates the music. I am always searching for a specific quality to an orchestration of these songs. First, the original mood and intent must be retained while depth, fullness, and the character of the piece is honed and refined. Second, it cannot be over-dramatic to the point where it tries to be bigger than it is supposed to be (Example: over-punctuation like live symphony orchestras like to do in a concert setting). Third, it must retain the qualities that allow it to be used in the game itself without being distracting or jarring that takes you out of the moment. In short, it must build upon the epicness of the original without distracting from its original atmosphere and emotional intent. I've listened to Final Symphony, Distant Worlds, Voices of the Lifestream, Video Games Live, BitSymphony and more. I've love them all for different reasons and listen to them all both live in concert and in MP3, but they didn't have "The One" I was looking for. You nailed it. You fucking nailed it to the wall and dropped the microphone. You nailed it with Judgement Day, Cid's Theme, Those Who Fight, JENOVA, and Flowers Blooming in the Church. It makes my hair stand up and my eyes wet. All I have to say is: Thank you and I anxiously await the next volume!
Eh+ Gamer Hey, thanks! Given the number of talented remix-artists and orchestrators out there, it's a bit difficult breaking through, but comments like yours keep me carefully optimistic :)

As this played through my head, all I kept thinking to myself was "This is for Nibelheim, this is for Zack. This. Is. For AERITH!"........ Yeah, I was out for Sephiroths blood that day.
Amazing! This is great. I always loved this song and hearing the original on FF15 made me look for a better version.. Totally blown away when I found this. Bought the whole CD and I'm loving it. Keep it up!
Cant say often enough how incredible your work is, and how much I love it! FF7 is amongst my alltime favotite games/stories, and having its music so beautifully remade is pure gold! Thank you!
I hope the songs in the remake will be texture differently. The a sweet in this theme would work so well if it was mostly played with a single instrument only to go crescendo and finish on a gigantic choir harmony at the end. The single instrument would be symbolic of the struggle against gigantic odds, and the crescendo just makes sense to escalate the tension and epicness before the final showdown. Either way, enough rambling, great work mate
i just realised that this was transformed into the avalanche theme in the remake...i hear a similar beat and vibe. that combined with aeriths theme makes this song so great!!
Subscribed. Particularly the part starting at 1:50 made me fall in love with this. I also like the other orchestrations very much and will recommend you to them; keep up the good work!
Going through that crater with this song after you have finish all sidequests, thinking to yourself that Sephiroth dosen't know what kind of shit is coming to is face...
When i reach this point, i've already got all my character leveled up to 99. Looking for some Dragon Zombie to complete my Enemy Skill Materia, ready to kick that Oversized Katana bastard guy. Heuheu Btw, This remake is otherworldly. Brilliant touch man. ...
I love it - also, question, as an aspiring video game composer: how did you make this, what program? I'm now using FL Studio instead of good ol' guitar pro 6 but orchestral sounds would be great.
Let me point you to a great video that dives pretty deep into virtual orchestrations by Alex Ball, I can think of no better introduction: ruclips.net/video/wXgqiNtCfUg/видео.html
Incredidibly Epic, iTSthe song that says shit is going down I am ready for this,Ive been playing and taking out every obstacle until now Time to finish this bussines and then you get the 3 boss battles and you hear one wing angel and only one word goes through your mind : FUCK. Hahaha im about to finsh at least story wise the New threat Mod, guys check it out I loved it

YES! Your comment hit it right on the head!
Axeman Cartoons Maybe is because, were too much hype with themes as one winged angel, ultimate jenova ....etc. Forgetting this masterpiece completely
not willing to rule it out.
Axeman Cartoons I totally agree with you, this song marked my memories, as the final resolute step for cloud's team in the dephts of the planet towards the core of their quest.
Took the words right out of my mouth!!
Beautiful track! The addition of the choir is a fantastic touch. I'd like to think that it's Aerith's voice singing out to Cloud and the rest of her friends as they descend down into the Northern Crater to face Sephiroth.
Same thought! It makes sense doesn't it?

Adam McLaughlin sameeeeeeee
I've heard almost every remake/mix of this song and man, this is the best without any doubt.
Amazing work!
Thank you!
The voice adds beauty and epicness, I love this track, this is probably the best final dungeon theme from FF series

Definitely needs more attention than it's gotten. I'll be picking this up this weekend.

As this played through my head, all I kept thinking to myself was "This is for Nibelheim, this is for Zack. This. Is. For AERITH!"........ Yeah, I was out for Sephiroths blood that day.
This is probably one of my favorite tracks on FFVII. Keep it up man, your doing an amazing job!
Adam Redd Mine too, always liked the somber tone in this one. Uematsu really outdid himself on the FF7-soundtrack
Amazing! This is great. I always loved this song and hearing the original on FF15 made me look for a better version.. Totally blown away when I found this. Bought the whole CD and I'm loving it. Keep it up!

This is incredible, great job on this!
I really like your take on this track! Again, you seem great with atmospheric pieces that have a sense of urgency, eeriness, or contemplative :)
i just realised that this was transformed into the avalanche theme in the remake...i hear a similar beat and vibe. that combined with aeriths theme makes this song so great!!
A thing of beauty
Great atmosphere! This is the Judgement Day!

+gawreluck Thanks for the support!
damnnn! masterpiece!
Went to 2 Final fantasy orchestra, one of them was half about FF7, and yet this song wasn't played, i wish i heard it live😢
I love it - also, question, as an aspiring video game composer: how did you make this, what program? I'm now using FL Studio instead of good ol' guitar pro 6 but orchestral sounds would be great.

I hope this makes it in the remake.
I just bought the album. These are magnificent. Any chance of an arrangement of The Shinra Company?
+tom chorlton Thanks for the support, Tom! I don't know if it will be included in vol 2 yet, but I'll definetely keep it in mind.
+Pontus Hultgren Glad to hear there is a volume 2. :)

Hey ! are you going to do Nanaki's theme ? please ! great work thank you
Great work! Do you have any plans for FF9 music? Melodies of Life for example.
The world map music from FF9 is a great version of that theme, might do something around that some time along the way :)
I was looking for the bell-like sound but it’s not present somehow it works
Of three Final Fantasy games I've played, FF7 is my least favourite, but listening to this made me urge to replay it.
Please include this into FF 7 Remake
Not my tempo !
リメイクはだいたいこうなってそう
This is great but it's waayyy too fast
this song always stated without saying" you're going to pay for you're crimes"
